Top Gear's Stig Revealed!

Fans of Top Gear might want to prepare themselves for another Stig death soon. When "Black Stig" Perry McCarthy revealed himself, Clarkson, Hammond and May offed him. Now, according to the UK's Telegraph, the "White Stig" has apparently ended the mystery, revealing himself as 33 year-old Ben Collins. Collins has raced professionally in everything from NASCAR to LeMans, and most recently served as Agent 007's double for sequences of Quantum of Solace that required fancy wheel work. It's been such a secret for so long, how did the veil of silence come to be broken? Collins himself apparently revealed his day job to the owner of an art gallery in Bristol, England when asking for help producing a limited-edition print of The Stig plying his trade.

 

A builder had also come across the famed white suit and gloves on display in a cabinet while doing work at Collins' home, and there has been conjecture in the past that Collins is The Stig. Now that the cat is out of the bag, we wonder if there's much wailing and gnashing of teeth in the halls of Top Gear's offices. Secret identity or no, Collins has proven himself as a fantastic driver as The Stig, and with this latest revelation, he potentially faces "The Sack" as they say in Merry Old.

 

No confirmation yet from Clarkson, Hammond or Mays on this revelation, and the only word out of Top Gear is that they "...never comment on speculation as to who or what The Stig is." Hmm. In any case, we are left to wonder... what color will a new Stig be? Red? Gold? Blue? Thanks for the tip, Richard!

There have been really strong rumours about Ben Collins being the Stig and I've been saying it for quite some time now. He was also mentioned in a report when Hammand had that crash as someone who works closely with Top Gear as a professional driver, or something like that anyway.

 

He will be fired as there is a clause in his contract that states if his identity gets revealed he will get fired.

 

I wonder who the next Stig will be.

I'd heard it was Ben ages ago ... I think TG shouldn't confirm or deny it and just keep on using him as he's a very good driver

well it was my theory because jams may was called captin slow and i had never seen the stig and may together at the same time untill last nights episode.

The white Stig who drives the cars round the track for the lap times is Ben Collins. Black Stig got fired because his identity got leaked and there have been numerous other Stigs like the truck driver Stig and American Stig.

I know the black stig got fired for that, but it's been said countless times before, if you look at the height of the stig on various episodes it's not always the same.

Brilliant thing about a man with no face is that you can swap him for another driver, and noone would even notice.

The White Stig that does the Test Track is one person ... however there are then the 'other' White stigs for the specialist bits ... like the Winter Olympic special or when it's the White stigs cousin

The one about Perry McCarthy was he basically wrote in his autobiography that it was him, he made it very obvious apparently.

But as Hybrid says there are various different people who play the Stig then you have all his cousins from different continents.

Ben Collins has already appeared for the show as Ben Collins, so doubtful he's the only Stig. More likely it's him, plus a bunch of the BTCC drivers that they often have on.

He could wear no helmet and still set the same times..

 

Why do they keep it all so secretive lol? Top Gear is more secret about stuff than MI5.

If they get in another Stig now though, they'll have to have a new powerlaps board too.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if all this was just explained with some 'crazy' TopGear/JC excuse and forgotten about by next week.

Then next time we see the Stig on TG he'll be wearing a t-shirt with 'I am Ben Collins' on it....

Yeah, I read somewhere a while ago they've had a few BTCC drivers on as the stig, as well as a couple of F1 drivers...
