my tdu is silent

Everything seems ok untill you get on to the menu - then theres no sound.

Ive just bought my tdu dvd, and a new computer. Ive tried Live for speed - that works perfectly.

Also, when in game, after 5mins, a error message will appear saying its encountered a problem (which im presuming is sound related)

Ive heard that "if you add tdu to alchemy, it fixes it"

All sound settings are turned on, both windows and in-game.

Thanks.

EDIT: Also, just before you get to the menu, the screen goes black for half a sec.

Updated my sound drivers - tdu wont even load up now, it gets to the point just before the menu, then freezes. Ive had to restart my brand new comp already :(

Anyone help?

Delete the Radial.CBD like Streak recommended. If that doesn't work:

Post the exact wording of your error message.

Then:

(I assume you are using windows XP. Let me know if it is something different.)

Try this as a test:

Right-click "My Computer" and Select "Manage"

In the Computer Management Console, click on "Device Manager"

Double-Click "Sound, video, and game controllers"

Right-Click on you sound card and choose Disable

Your sound card is now off.

Reboot your computer.

Run the game.

Of course there will be no sound, but what we are testing for is the crash. If you game runs for 10 minutes or more, you can be sure that you have a problem with your sound drivers. If the game still crashes, you've got problems somewhere else, possibly in your memory.

If the game Does NOT Crash:

Download and update you sound card drivers.

If the game DOES crash:

Disable / uninstall anything that runs during startup (WinAMP Agent, Anti-virus, Steam, uTorrent, ect.) and then reboot. The idea is to free up as much memory as possible and test. Continue to leave the sound card disabled until you find the cause.

I suspect it will be a driver issue (Sound or Video). I would not rule out hardware failure though.

Be sure to:

Update Sound and Video drivers.

Update to the latest version of Direct X.

Install Service Pack 3 (for Windows XP).

Do each ONE AT A TIME AND TEST THE GAME BETWEEN EACH.

Once you've done all that, it's time to start thinking about hardware problems.

Also, to turn your sound card back on, follow the same step above except choose "Enable" on the last step.

Good Luck,

D-Gen

Hi again, I gave the game to my friend for a day. He expirenced no problems with sound/crashes, so its not the disc.

I deleted the radial.cdb file - however no change appeared.

I turned off my sound drivers, however, it still crashed. (I seem to have about 3-4 sound related drivers, is this normal?)

I just tryed turning all sercurity and auto running programs with no avail.

Thanks ever so much for your input :)

http://i37.tinypic.com/30ufuoz.jpg

thats the error message which appears when the game crashes.

Edit: im downlaoding DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer now.

Brief Description

August 2009

The Microsoft DirectX® End-User Runtime provides updates to 9.0c and previous versions of DirectX — the core Windows® technology that drives high-speed multimedia and games on the PC.

Which seems pretty promising, so, fingers crossed ill be crusing the island with you guys soon :D
