Ubisoft Spending Over $68 Million for Watch Dogs

TIMELESS

Recommended Posts

Traditionally, production studios are wary about information they release concerning budgets and their work force, and Ubisoft itself has stated that it does not usually comment on developer headcount. Last year though, a French business publication named Challenges was able to charm a figure out of executive producer Stéphane Decroix. Prior to the delay, the budget for Watch Dogs was at over €50 million, which translates to just over $68 million in dollars. This doesn't take marketing into account, either, which could potentially double the total amount.

 Ubisoft are going all out for this, eh? To compare, all in, Tomb Raider (2013) cost just over $100k. Looks like it'll make the list of most expensive games ($50k+): Most expensive video games - Video Game Sales Wiki - Video Game Sales, Charts, NPD, Graphs, Video Game Figures, and more!

WHERE DOES ALL THIS MONEY GO? I mean I can understand it when it is a movie budget they blow real stuff up and all that business but in a video game? Can someone come up with a meaningful explanation.

My thoughts exactly!

I wonder how much this will have set Ubisoft back by the time they release it (rumoured March?) including marketing and manufacture! Rockstar are absolutely insane to have spent $250 million, especially since it's only taken me 2-3 months to get bored of it

Release date is June 30th.

Rockstar made that $250 mil back in just 24 hours lol - I'm sure Ubisoft is gonna make back their $60 mil just as fast, I'd figure. This is the biggest Ubi game launch since AC I - iirc.

should say pre-orders make up the majority of that 24 hours, so it's not even 24 hours really. It's back in time
