Maybe due to the fact that the Fuel tank is standard and one ignition and the whole car goes up in flames???

 

Also, it was a 100mph impact, into a garage wall, and a flip. No bloody wonder people went over! Nascar is totally different, in enclosed spaces, with protected fuel tanks, and fire points all over the place, you'll be suprised if you see a fire extinguisher at a point in the rally that is not a Marshalls point!

 

2 different sports, two totally different situations of saving lifes.
