I've been a fan of the crysis game and having fun with the sandbox program along with it, i only can play it on low that was with the demo. What do you think would be a good graphics card to run it on medium or semi high settings? i dont care for the very high settings etc i just wanna run it on medium or semi high settings. :)

med - 8600gt - 8600gts

high - 8800gt - 8800gts

to get decent framerates. you may need need to put antialising off or 2x.

9800gt GX2 in SLI

Make sure the rest of your com is powerful enough so it doesnot bottle neck

lol. he doesn't want it maxed out though. but damn. 9800gx2's in SLI, boy that's sweet! :p

Mark's 9600gt should put it in between the med and high. the 8800gt is better than his 9600gt. ;)

if you do plan getting a 8800gts, i recommend getting the 512mb version as it uses and new chipset architecture (G92).;)

don't get the 320mb and 640mb ones (G80). i'm not saying they're bad, but the new one is better. Sorry TSS and Stinger if I offended you! :o

if you want to go a step higher, the 9800gtx is the way to go. but it costs almost a hundred dollars more than the 8800gts.

I was on my local computer store website and all i can find well what is decent and in my price range is: $300 or lower.

---------

XFX GeForce 9600GT 512mb DDR3 - $230 AU

Leadtek 9600GT 512 PCI-E2 - $205 AU

NX8600GTS Diamond plus - $199 AU

Nividia 8600GT 512mb - $109

-------

Thats how they were listed on the site...

If you can list anymore in $ AU then let me know otherwise tell me what you think is best outta the list even know you do mention the 9600GT. I also have a funny feeling most of them are the same.. :o

from what you've listed up there, the XFX 9600gt is the best one up there.

here's my research for your budget. these are the best cards under 300 dollars.

unfortunately, the 8800gts is over 300 dollars.

Gainward GeForce 8800GT GDDR3

might have a mix of med and high settings there. your antialiasing might be set to at most 2x only though. it's not because the card is crappy. remember crysis had sloppy programming. that's why you'll need a 2x 9800gx2's in SLI to max it out.

Hmm.. fair enough well i have had a look on the site for your cards you listed and they are not listed on my local computer store. Could i give you the link to the place and pick out a card whats in my price range cause that way its much faster to find a card thats at my computer store.

hmmm. weird that they don't have the 8800gt - gts on there.

here's the Sapphire Radeon HD3870

the 8800GS is a bit better than the 9600GT but, the 8800GT is still better. but, if you're playing on a large resolution, the 9600GT will be better since it has more VRAM the 8800GS. 8800GS only has 384mb of VRAM.

here's the 9600GT

i still recommend the 8800GT though. ;)

haha. or another store. ;)

EDIT: btw, i forgot to mention, the Radeon HD3870 is close to the 8800GT. i've heard it runs a bit hotter and performance wise, maybe a few FPS lower than the 8800GT.
