K seriously what am i doing wrong? All i wanted to do was make the white background in my new avatar clear but no matter what i do it won't go clear. I've done transparent gif's before so i dunno whats wrong.

Can someone do me a big favour & remove the white background from this? You'd be doing me a big favour.

You should see lil squares on Photoshop if something is transparent, don't know what you did wrong.

I did it, but no need to upload a third...

But this is how it should look if the background is transparent.

When you're saving for web, be sure that you enable transparency. Otherwise it'll give you a white background by default.

I would also suggest saving as .png as it offers higher quality transparencies. The only browser that doesn't like it is Internet Explorer and nobody uses that anyway.

Here ya go :)

Thanks guys. I'll use mac moguls as he went to the trouble of removing the left over bits from crap lassoing lol.

In Phtshp that can be done without lassoing, u know. Tool called Magic Wand is perfect for selecting the plain backgrounds. For further adjustments like removing silhouette borders u can use tool Select>Modify>Border/expand/contract...

Damn it! I can make transparent backgrounds in photoshop but they appear white here :(

Why don't you make the background the same colour as the forum's grey? it will "Appear" transparent.
