  1. Great mod Dragozool. ive been tex modding tdu2 for ages now ( since day 1 of uk release ) but ive been using it for car sticker imports, which stay in the game forever :D Altho its probably already known. Atari/Eden are not doing ANY checking in regards to cheats or mods. You can take all mods online. you can even use trainers to cheat and win races and nothing happens. I had some guy join a race i was in, in a VW beetle that could do over 150mph, he won the race and collected the points. They just don't seem to care..
  2. there is 2 reasons why it doesnt work. Either you didnt follow what you need to do EXACTLY Or you are still using the latest .exe. the latest exe is build 11, you need build 6 for this to work. I know it works as i have written several tutorials on another site and they all require you do a car swap. Plus im rocking the eden hotrod, the viper ACR and the mercedes sl 65. those last two cars are gonna be in the next DLC update, but coz they are used in missions they are already in the game. Forget using hex editors you only need Tsearch, 2 cars and and older .exe to get this working
  3. Really nice work here mate, im gonna make use of this for sure. Regarding people worrying that using a mod like this could get your online account banned, NO IT WON'T. if kids are getting away with using trainers to give them more money, faster speeds and even making cars fly, then there is no way you will get banned for a mod which doesnt really give you any advantage over other racers. even if you report users for cheating nothing happens to them, i was doing a race against some kid and he cheated to win ( speed boost ), so i reported him and he is still happily cheating to this day, so far i have reported about 10 users for cheating during a race and NONE of them have ever been banned. Like everything else to do with this game eden/ atari doesn't give a crap anymore, at this time you could even take modded cars online and nothing would happen, i even saw one kid mem hack a bus to have bugatti physics ( that was kinda funny tho ) and he is still fine.
  4. Xpadder ?? wow that's a ... "different" use for it i guess, never thought of using it to fake a h gate shifter. Which while im on the subject, if you own a force feedback joystick ( not a rumble gamepad an actual FF joystick ) then there is a better solution for you. there is an app floating around called "FF Shifter" it's used a lot on Rfactor and Live for speed. unlike xpadder which just simulates different key presses depending where you push the stick, FFshifter will actually make your joystick into a proper H gate shifter with a proper " clunk clunk " feel to it as it passes out of one gear into another. It will only allow you to move the joystick along the h gate shape. So what i mean is if you was in first, you cannot just push the stick right and make it go to third, you have to move out of first to neutral, then across to center, then up to 3rd, it applies forces to everywhere other than the H shape. Heres a link to a youtube video showing it in action All the best, Nobby
  5. There actually is a way of creating a car in ANY other 3d package. BUT you will still need Zmodeler2. You can build your car in any 3d app you like and just convert it to a format ZM can handle. Then you set the car up in ZM ( making sure all part names are correct and such the like ) then export it from ZM into .BNK format. Do all the build work in what ever modeler you are used to ( i prefer Lightwave 9.6 ) then export it as something like .OBJ or .3DS and import that into ZM. Then do the setup in ZM and export from that as .BNK format. Not an ideal way of doing it granted but if you don't like ZM modelling controls and you will be much faster making a scratch built car, you might as well do that. Might seem excessive, buying an app mainly as a converter, but ive done it a few times. Last one i did it for was 3DS max 2010 i hate MAX but nothing converts max models like max itself, in fact almost nothing converts max files :)
  6. Get wolfs TDU toolkit from Here it has a registry fixer amongst other things. I used to get crashes all the time in tdu, now i never get crashes.
  7. I believe what you are talking about is "wolfs TDU toolkit" the one that lets you build multiply sets of bookmarks, backs up your save game, fixes your registry, create radio stations easy... BTW a newer version has been released ( don't know how long ago) but i just loaded the toolkit on mine and it says there are newer versions for all the toolkit apps. V2.5 i think it said..
  8. Indeed link is broken, this is what i get when i click the link. Oops! An unexpected error (-1) has occurred. If this problem persists or you need further assistance, contact support.
  9. Very nice work TDUZoqqer. Just out of interest, what app did you model that in. was it all Zmodeler or did you build it in something like Max and import the mesh into ZM after? Can't wait for this to be released, its gonna be like sitting in a rocket :)
  10. I completely disagree it will only screw up if you let it, by giving it wrong info. Something i did notice in Gooner's image..... his install path. Says E:\Atari\ Shouldnt it be something closer to E:\Atari\Testdriveunlimited or E:\Atari\TDU Every car ive downloaded that had an auto installer, ive used the installer and never had any problems EVER. but thats coz i pay attention to what im doing.. i make sure the installer is running in admin mode and i make sure the folder location is correct. when you hit install it goes to the correct location and installs perfect. All the installer is really doing is copying files from one location to another, unless you give it incorrect info , how can it screw up anything??
  11. Yes you can make Rfactor cars into TDU cars and vice versa. Zmodeler is needed to convert the vehicle from OBJ/3DS to TDU, and im sure there are plenty of car editors/ scripts for import/export of Rfactor seeing as cars are being made for that all the time.
  12. Highly unlikely anyone will do doing these quickly. as they require a lot of extra work compared to a lot of the other driving game models previously converted. The app used to convert them from forza .carbin files to .Obj isnt the best converter in the world, it has many floors, hence why so much rework is required on the models before getting them tdu ready. BUT a lot of those problems have been worked out or at least work arounds have been found. so the first few forza 3 WIP cars are appearing now.
  13. Any of these cars are possibilities to be made, as forza 3 cars can be converted now..:thumbsup:hopefully someone will have enough time on their hands to convert all 311 cars :D
  14. Just so you know .max is 3ds max's native file format :) The name should have given that away
  15. oddly enough www.zmodeler2.com Google really is an amazing website :)
  16. most important app you need is Zmodeler2 thats what has the need4speedshift importer plugin. But its not free, so we cannot upload it for you, sorry. You can get it at http://www.zmodeler2.com
  17. Then i think you may have done something wrong.:) the only reason i got that program was so i could convert 3ds and obj to other formats. The last BIG thing i converted with it was one of the " evermotion" car models ( suzuki swift ) into 3ds so i could load it into Zmodeler. But the car object needed to be split into its smaller sections ( doors, body, etc ) so i scrapped it as it would take me way too long to make it tdu compatible. If you want, you could always pm me a link and id convert your model into Zmodeler, 3ds, DAE format for you. then you can do all the work on getting it TDU ready. Id like to be more active on the forum, and i have access to quite a few high quality car models ( ever motion, dosch3d ) but i just don't have the time to make tdu cars, but converting takes just a couple of minutes to do, so thats not gonna eat into my time really, plus its a small distraction from working on some of my larger projects  like i said if your interested, just drop me a pm, id be happy to help you or anyone else out with things like file conversions.
  18. 2 of the most important words you will ever hear regarding 3d file conversion.... " DEEP EXPLORATION " Id personally recommend Deep Exploration 5. It will convert between almost all well known 3d formats, ranging from OBJ, LWO, 3DS, C4D, DAE and many others. the only major file format it wont do is .MAX ( 3ds max native file format ) it is supposed to if you have max installed by for some reason it never works. It also converts almost all image formats, including direct X textures. when you convert 3d files it will keep all UV/ texture information even for 3ds. its also one of the only programs ive used that doesn't screw up models when you convert them to 3ds. So you could happily convert OBJ to 3ds or DAE without it messing up the normals or the UV assignments. The only semi important thing you need to remember is when you load the 3d file into Deep Ex put the textures in the same folder as the object otherwise it doesn't know where they are ( altho you can manually go to each material and load in the textures ) then when you save it you can tell it to either keep the textures in the same folder as the object or tell it to save them somewhere else. I use this app on a daily basis and i honestly could not do without it. its as important as the modeling app itself. I do a LOT of 3d work for small companies so its a really handy program to have as it means i can make my model in whatever format i like and convert it to something else if i need to load it in another app)
  19. I think i can answer this one... What ever car you are replacing is where the new car will be. So for example if you was to swap the Dodge charger for a bmw, you will be able to find the bmw by going to the Dodge showroom. because the game still thinks it is actually a dodge ( its only the car model and name that have changed in the eyes of the game ) if the car isnt at the dodge showroom, check ALL dodge show rooms, if its not in any dodge show room then you will have to hunt for it, by checking every car showroom. if after searching every single car showroom ( doesn't take long if you do it by clicking the map rather than driving ) then its pretty safe to say the car didn't actually install. by definition if the car installed, it changed some files, if those files changed it HAS to be in the game SOMEWHERE, so if you can't find a car in any showroom then it probably didn't install correctly/at all. @thunderhawk17382 Firstly... handy dandy thread you have here, well done, will come in very handy for some people. Secondly if you can somehow squeeze what i said into a few lines of text (i know i say a lot when i try and explain things) then by all means add it to the list of Q&A's
  20. I think what your trying to ask is . What programs do people use to make cars... That depends on what you are comfortable using. You WILL need Zmodeler2 Which costs $60 (USD) as that is the only thing that can convert the models to TDU compatible files. But to actually build the car.. you can use any 3d modeler you like. Some people build the car directly in Zmodeler2, some people use 3dsMax, some use Maya, you could even use Sketchup if you really wanted. My personal choice of modeler is Lightwave 3d. but as i said it's entirely up to you, but you WILL need Zmodler2 to convert your 3dsmax/maya model into the tdu file format.
  21. Awsome mod, many thanks Hey 2CV, just wanted to say a big Thank You to you and everyone else who helped with this update. It works great, finally i actually see the logo's for all the cars i have rather then them all being blank. I didn't have any problems with the install or when it came to run the game, everything worked great first time. The only problem i have, is one that everyone will probably experience, but i know technically its nothing to do with your mod, its to do with the fact that we modify the game.. The " unidentified " car issue with the police radio. I know its to do with the fact we have added new car makes/models but there are no police radio samples to match those car makes/models so they have an " unidentified car " sample in case that happens. Which is something i wanted to talk to you about...... ( for example ) we have a Mini we can add to the game but the game does not have a police sample for the word Mini, so when they announce it over the radio they say " unidentified car." I really have no idea how tdu looks at its audio samples for the police radio, but if you think its possible to add samples for some of the new car makes/models to the game, i would be interested or at least willing to have a go a recording some new police radio samples. If you ( or if any other of the big modders ) think its possible and you are interested in something like this, drop me a PM and we can talk about it. Again Many thanks for this update, works like a dream :excited: +rep
  22. Use either Djey's modding tools or use Dredgy's TDUPE. Both have the ability to change the names of the vehicles ( you can find links for both by having a quick look around the modding section of the forum )
  23. A couple of ideas that may be stopping you from saving your changes. 1 either the database files are write protected ( shouldn't be, but you never know ) just do a properties on them and have a look, and change it if needed. 2 are you running the modding tools in admin mode ? im almost positive your supposed to run in admin mode, which would also make sense as running in non admin mode can stop you having access to lots of things on your computer. If neither of the above are relevant then im not sure dude.
  24. No problem, glad to help.. hope you get it sorted out.
  25. Hi.. Im not 100% sure, but i believe it's not just a case of setting the top speed. what i mean is you couldn't set the top speed to 500kph and the car will actually do that. there are other things to consider, such as down force, the weight of the car, traction etc. The same applies in the real world, you couldn't put a Ferrari engine in a Nissan Micra and expect it to go the same speed as the ferrari. if anything it would just sit on the road spinning its wheels due to not having enough traction. Try upping the amount of traction or down force to the driving wheels, that should help a little.. Then again lexus are quite heavy cars if i remember correct, perhaps the car is too heavy to be able to go that speed, you may need to reduce the car weight slightly. But in short, just upping the top speed won't do a lot to a car, you have to take other things into consideration. Hope some thing i have mentioned will help you out. Good luck dude!
