  1. Hi all. I'm from Melbourne AU, and regularly played TDU1 on PC when it first released up until the servers closed. I completed TDU2 and took part in a few online cruises but didn't enjoy the physics/handling unfortunately. The dirt-road handling was more tolerable. I managed to win the TDU2 Superfan contest many years ago with this amateurish trailer. I stopped playing TDU2 when I was accepted into the WMD program that helped fund and develop Project CARS. These days I've packed away my Fanatec CSR Elite wheel + pedals and I play The Crew 2 and Rocket League on PC using a Xbox One gamepad in my spare time. I'm looking forward to learning more about TDU SC.
  2. CDKeys.com also has TDU2 listed, but not very cheap. https://www.cdkeys.com/pc/games/test-drive-unlimited-2-pc-cd-key-steam I wonder if proceeds of sale for TDU2 goes to KT Racing? It would be funny if someone heard about TDU World and increased their prices.
  3. Some more interesting news today - MS have removed the "Annual Subscription' option for Live Gold. You can only get 1 or 3 month subscriptions now. Users can instead get 1 year of Xbox Game Pass which includes Live Gold (for a slightly higher fee). Retail outlets likely still have 12 month Live Gold subscription codes as well for a limited time (in case you were desperate for one).
  4. Geoff Keighley goes hands--on with the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller. It looks a little larger, feels a little heavier, hsa a louder speaker on board, and there are few other nifty features on board. Whether or not they are used in cross-platform titles remains to be seen. 00:00 - First Hands on With DualSense! 04:58 - Astro's Playroom Demo 08:19 - Eric Lempel Interview 18:00 - When will Pre-Orders Start? Do these features add up to your console-buying decision making process, or are they just novelties to be dismissed?
  5. It may be an option alongside the expected traditional outright purchase. We'll have to wait and see to be certain. The question is, at what monthly price would it become an impulse purchase. i.e. if it was $30 per month for the best console + Live Gold + Game Pass (100+ games), would you go for it? If you didn't have a 4K TV or care about high frame rates, would you go for the new S series if it's bundle was only $15 per month? If you had the Game Pass subscription, you might not care so much if the S series was Digital only, compared to the PS5 Digital edition where you would still have to buy most of your games (as far as we know). Another plus is the confirmation that controllers and hardware for Xbox One will continue to work on the new consoles, and old games will keep working and perform better, saving more $$$. For me personally, I'm more excited to get a new GPU later this year which is rumored to be a big jump in performance. I don't have a need for either console at this point in time. I haven't played GT Sport at all and Forza is available on PC (thanks MS).

  7. Xbox head Phil Spencer has written an interesting article confirming a few points regarding the future of gaming within the Xbox family. Once again, he sounds confident that their success will not be measured in the number of consoles sold, since he promotes the playing of new titles on old hardware for those who can't upgrade or choose not to. Could it be that Microsoft will offer their new consoles on a 24-month payment plan alongside Xbox Game Pass for a low enough monthly fee, that traditional PlayStation owners are tempted enough to switch? Or get both consoles instead of just the PS5? Will parents who typically buy a console as a gift for children be attracted to this new model where they don't have to spend $70+ per game since the monthly price includes access to a new console plus 100+ games plus multiplayer (Live Gold) access bundled in one reasonable fee? Have a read through the following article and let us know your thoughts. Don't forget to come back for the next Xbox game stream scheduled for next Thursday (July 23).
  8. Great to have you back here, Des  🙂

  9. Maybe they also need an International Airport on the island??? Especially if the game has two islands.
  10. California is well represented in The Crew 1 + 2, plus you mentioned that Los Angeles is in GTA V and Midnight Club LA. I think the checklist for the TDU series tends to be: * An Island that can be recreated in 1:1 scale or close enough. Being an island means the world has no arbitrary borders and so is by nature "Unlimited" * Coastal roads (obviously, it's an island) * Twisty mountain roads with elevation changes * Long highways for top speed * Tunnels for sound appreciation * Cities and built-up residential areas for extra immersion compared to NFS-style open worlds * A rich/elite environment where supercars might not be too unexpected in real life I don't see mainland Europe, America, Brasil (or any mainland) being used by TDU given that it traditionally has been based on elite islands. Either way I can wait to find out more and explore a new location that I've hopefully never seen before. I don't mind if they include O'ahu as a secondary or even DLC location but I wouldn't expect it to take primary focus.
  11. (edit, The Jackal's first post/rant above mine appears to have been removed, so my reply makes less sense now) Welcome to the forums, Jackal. I'm also Aussie - I think it's fair to say we don't have to worry about them picking Oz since TDU usually goes for islands (but not gigantic continent-sized ones) at ~ 1:1 scale. USA is overdone imo (NFS are well overdue to feature somewhere different) but I don't think Europe is overdone. I guess most players just want to go somewhere they can't visit IRL (which right now is just about everywhere beyond the local shops for us in Melbourne, haha). I'm pretty sure the majority of locations that could be selected have speed limits and slow drivers. But I haven't visited too much of WA besides Kalgoorlie and Karatha. Try using paragraphs next time - they're much easier to read than that wall of text
  12. The best guess so far from the community has been https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martinique
  13. I must say I really do hope the voice acting is better this time around. I'm also very relieved if they are releasing on Steam as well as Epic at launch.
  14. Maybe the pedestrians are obese and can't get out of the way fast enough? Or maybe they're all anime girls.
  15. Very glad they kept the Unlimited name in the title and stuck with 1:1 scale. Puzzled by the PEGI 18 rating but very curious to learn more. Thanks KT team if you're reading this.
  16. Well, it's not provisionally PEGI 3 or 13 Don't forget most of us were under 18 when we played the first game - half of what made it great was that you could experience driving on a G25 before you had your real life drivers licence. That said, GTA-V sales didn't seem to be impacted. I just hope the adult aspects can be avoided so that I can recommend the game to other young ones. @Eudemon might have to restrict forum sign-ups to 18+, but at least he could look at scantily clad anime girls here as a result haha. Let's continue the TDU3 discussion on the new announcement thread:
  17. It's rated for ages 18 up? What do you think they've got in there to require that classification? Did they go too far with the car wash? PEGI 18 The adult classification is applied when the level of violence reaches a stage where it becomes a depiction of gross violence, apparently motiveless killing, or violence towards defenceless characters. The glamorisation of the use of illegal drugs and explicit sexual activity should also fall into this age category.
  18. Does the crown image remind anyone else of the NFS ProStreet career?
  19. I've been mainly playing The Crew 2 in recent weeks.
  20. I like a half decent story in a racing game more than most it would seem, but the TDU2 one was pretty hard to stomach, or maybe it was just the acting. TDU1 proved that a story isn't really required at all. The solarcrown domain is a concern, but it could simply just play host to platform leaderboards of some description. As for missing vehicles in TDU2, given the financial situation the most likely answer is that they couldn't afford the licencing costs to use the vehicles they had already built. It happens in many games. Sometimes the launch game sales enabled them to spend more on the licences later to release as DLC. Other times the assets are shelved for the next game. Eden Games didn't have much opportunity to do either.
  21. Forza's maps are way too small for cruising, so I wouldn't judge what everyone does based from that. The Crew would be better to look at.
  22. I'm thinking if they were only re-releasing O'ahu, etc again they'd probably have released it by now (depending on the car count). It will be great to have Oahu again but I don't think that would be all. The images we see on their website definitely look like Oahu, but they could simply have been testing new tech in their game engine with the old location while the new location was still in early development. We saw this with leaked 'TDU2' screenshots that clearly resemble TDU1 more than the sequel. I'll be honest, Brasil does at first seem like an odd choice but at the same time knowing so little about that area would make it more fun to explore for the first time. It reminds me more of the 'leaked' artwork pre-TDU2. Maybe the entire rumor is falsely based off these old artwork assets. Or maybe these assets were included in the acquisition which sparked real development in that direction. I only get to experience the thrill of discovering a new area once and I kind-of feel a bit ripped off in that sense when The Crew 2 came out with the same, albeit tweaked, map. TDU1 proved that we don't need over-the-top features and game modes, just a good location, good netcode, good community, and a good selection of cars that handle well that make the player feel that they are really driving the car. Ibiza was ok but you couldn't really cruise around the coast as you had to keep going inland and it was hard to remember which road to take to get back to the coast. Oahu's map was much better in that regard. For those who don't know, this place used to be called TDU-Central, or TDUC, which sounds like TDuck, now TurboDuck.
  23. Brasil sounds good for the visual environment, but i have no idea what the roads are like. @Milli ??? I'm still waiting for Japan or New Zealand's southern island to be featured. Searching for TDU3 Brazil returned these results: If they want to release on the Epic store that's fine, but I really hope they don't make it exclusive for any amount of time because I'm avoiding installing their software more than I've avoided Facebook for the last decade.
  24. Surprised to see another WRC game before any TDU3 news, but I guess this confirms that TDU3 will be a next-gen game, which can only be good news for us, enabling far greater possibilities.
