  1. If we break NFS games down into a few categories... * The Old (NFS, NFS II (SE), NFS III Hot Pursuit, NFS IV High Stakes, NFS Porsche Unleashed, NFS Hot Pursuit 2) * The Fast & Furious (NFS UG, NFS UG2, NFS MW, NFS Carbon, NFS World Online) * The Forgettable (NFS ProStreet, NFS Undercover) * The Simcade (NFS Shift, S2U) * The New (NFS HP 2010, The Run, MW 2012) ... often it's the old games that have the most popularity overall and are full of fond memories. So then, what made these games great? What makes the new games bad? Don't reply with a big rant (or even small paragraphs), because we're making an itemized list here, similar to when we told Atari what we wanted in TDU2 (and that turned out well ). Keep your list points concise so that I can copy them below. If you don't agree with someone, just ignore their post. If you like an idea, just click the like button. Try to cover as many areas of the games as possible. Later on we'll feature this on the homepage in an article and Diablo can send a link to the NFS Twitter account. WHAT WE LIKE IN NFS GAMES * Diverse (& European) locations, great driving roads (not condensed into a tiny map though) (NFS The Run was quite good in this case). * Great engine sounds * Great graphics * Knockout/Tournament mode across multiple tracks, instead of elimination after each lap or xx seconds. WHAT WE DISLIKE IN NFS GAMES * Overuse of maps that feel like they're based in America * Open world maps are small and shorten the game's lifespan to just a month or two. * Open world maps only have few roads going to few locations so you can't choose different ways to get to a location. * Lack of dashboard camera view. Those who have a steering wheel and H shifter want the full immersive experience. * A requirement to modify cars to progress/be competitive online * "Tap Brake to Drift" * Exclusive car manufacturer licenses (gives NFS bad image) * No online freeroam (not session-based)
  2. I think physics made by a graphics artist would suck just as much. ;) You need the right type of experienced person to begin with
  3. Yes, although we can't deny they cheated by making things harder simply by changing the car weight to about 50kg TDU2 had Hardcore mode added later after much fuss in the beta program, which was essentially SpinOut Mode
  4. Yep, besides that one line I'd agree with the rest of his post. Pains me to think there's a nice game out there spoiled by just one (or 2) thing(s).
  5. As a simcade game I enjoyed PGR 4 more than FM3 & 4 though. Handling felt quite nice, predictable but still challenging.
  6. I'm surprised they keep going to the same spot every year. Why not visit different parts of the world each time instead of annoying the same old Londoners every time. Guess the secondary houses there factors into it. That guy with the umbrella was a complete twat though.
  7. Yes, but private servers in addition to MOOR would be great for pre-organised events
  8. Congrats Camel - thank goodness you missed the first race in the championship or you'd be way out in front :)
  9. Racing in ~80 minutes... Feeling good about this race, I've got 6 out of 7 setup parameters within 1 number on the final test so I've tweaked them accordingly. Calculated fuel for each stint as well so I should have just enough, assuming my technical director is correct with his estimate (allowed for .2 variance).
  10. I'm sure it'll be out on a new console, but I'm not really looking forward to it. I spent way to much money on this series and have hardly got any lasting enjoyment in return. If not already, I won't be far away from playing ETS2 more than my total time in FM3, FM4, and FH combined. The game just feels too stale/clinical. Feels more like a museum than a racing game. I don't want to see a single track from FM4 in FM5 (besides Nordschliefe, well not the inaccurate Forza version of it). Plus Project CARS will be releasing around then as well and I'll be harassing you all to buy it :p
  11. This has already been posted in the forums and the chatbox :oook:
  12. Watch this video for a bit of comedy (skip to when they start driving) and for a clever way to recover from a crash without paying for the recovery service. :)
  13. If TDU2 taught us anything, an open world driving game should focus on the driving, (the cars, roads, sounds, handling, force feedback, etc) - all 'the sims' stuff takes the background. pCARS is due for release around thanksgiving 2013 (although us members being the 'Atari/EA/etc' can vote to delay it if more time is needed). Then there'll be some time for extra support and content. Then there's the Rally expansion pack that a lot of us want (which would rival Richard Burns Rally). After that perhaps we can get an open world game started. WMD Forum
  14. It would be a separate thing I assume, with the same engine underneath. pCARS has had multiplayer for months now.
  15. I drove the original game but didn't bother upgrading when they asked for more money. I don't think it's a TDU replacement. Given that fact that it's offline only why not just keep playing TDU offline - or support whoever is trying to get it back online. Forza Horizon 2 would be out before these guys make something comparable to TDU1 (given historic progress) on the next-gen consoles, and it would also be somewhat possible to convince SMS to make an open world sim game after pCARS based on some of Ian's posts.
  16. nah, those machinima days are over for TDU1. To think I still have an unseen movie that's about 85% done somewhere back from 2009.
  17. I hate it when they brake before the lights go yellow and you slam into them. If you sound the horn they should try to move.
