  1. For the most part, I wouldn't mind if all future console upgrades were 'mid-life'. Pros -Still get increased performance -Backwards game compatibility, with many automatically (or with very little work) taking advantage of increased performance -Expensive hardware peripherals (i.e. steering wheels) continue to work. Cons - Any unique expansion devices (ala Kinect/PSVR) must take up a USB port on an older system or be exclusive to the upgraded one (which isn't really a con since PSVR won't work on PS3 and Kinect won't work on the original Xbox). - Players who always want the best will no doubt be upgrading much more often (i.e. every 3 years instead of every 8). With consoles now being x86 like PC this type of upgrade cycle is possible. Of course while PC's start off being more expensive, you typically only need upgrade one component (GPU) to improve performance and you save money with cheaper games on Steam and no monthly/annual multiplayer subscription.
  2. [headline]E3 2017 - June 13th - 15th[/headline] It's time for the TBEEE2017NNT thread which can only mean one thing! I've been eating alphabety spaghetti again. Or it's nearly time for E3 2017! Surely we can be sure that there will be some big announcements this year as there has been every year. But who will pack the biggest punch this year? Will it be the big daddys of E3 in Sony or Microsoft or will it be from the likes of EA, Bethesda or Activision? 3. Microsoft are ramping up Scoprio news ahead of E3 2017. They have given an exclusive agreement to one of their biggest critics, Digital Foundry, who are known for analysing performance (or lack of) in great detail. Check out their report here Whilst the raw specs may remind some of 2-3 year-old gaming PC's, mass produced consoles will always be more efficient in their design, use of system resources, and may attract better coding and Q&A. Since this console is a mid-cycle upgrade, designers have been able to tweak the new hardware to perform better with existing game engines, rather than rely on developers to make adaptations based on new hardware. If you don't own any Xbox One console, are you now tempted by this elite offering? If you have the original or S variant, will you upgrade? Will you go all out and get a 4K HDR screen as well? Is the inclusion of a 4K BluRay player required these days or rendered moot by online streaming services? (Upscaled 1080p already looks amazing on my display). Add your thoughts below!
  4. There are still kids playing 1989 games... ...Minesweeper
  5. You liked the HP2010 physics???
  6. I get the feeling you're trying to insult these guys, but Google Translate is letting you down... :hmmm:
  7. What are the existing players spending money on? I haven't heard of much new DLC recently. Successful game studios don't really want to fire all their developers which is why they're onto the next project/game asap.
  8. Oh, I didn't know robillard suffered from multiple personality disorder
  9. As long as it isn't a Saturn...
  10. I really don't get how a game like DiRT 4 and DiRT Rally require so much disk space. I don't recall them having that much content (only a handful of locations iirc), or insane texture quality. I'm sure they could up the compression if they really wanted to.
  11. Beav pls, no-one likes pCARS here  When I first switched to a Logitech G25 I was coming from using a keyboard and the games of the day were TDU1, NFS Carbon, and simulations such as GTR 2 and Race 07. That said I did lazily try pC1 with keyboard. You should be slower when starting out, just as if you were learning a new track for the first time. Slow, smooth and clean, focus on technique (slow in, fast out, racing lines, look for the corner exit instead of right in front of you, etc). You may also want to review/disable some of the assists that were relied upon for gamepad inputs. There will always be some aliens who can achieve great times without a wheel, but you should find a wheel to be more fun and allow for greater consistency. I would only caution not to fall into the trap of thinking that stronger force feedback is better. It'll just tire you out quicker and possibly make your inputs sloppier. Real cars are designed and setup to be as easy as possible to drive. Set some before and after time trials and race against a former gamepad ghost lap that you record. Here's one of the latest races I did on PS4 at the same track with a wheel. You'll obviously see how it is less twitchy. There's also a decent comeback effort and some battles worth watching if you've got the time to kill ;)
  12. I may have sped it up to 1.5x and switched tabs a few times but I guess I am still sad enough to have watched it
  13. In there doing it right now Even managed to win a few games too
  14. I did notice that, I often see at least one of their tasks as a bit of a chore though. A friend sent me a tuned Dodge Dart which accelerates like a jet, yet somehow doesn't sit still destroying it's tyres.
  15. Funny that's what we usually say about most visitors  :jk:
  16. Richard Burns Rally is free these days and still enhanced by the community if you're into that Richard Burns Rally Lives On with New RBR 2016 Free Download | RaceDepartment
  17. Drone mode != photo mode?
  18. Some wild weather in north-eastern Aus (QLD) Category 2 cyclone hit early morning before dawn today as a Category 4 Hurricane, I believe it has since become Cat 3. Interestingly, despite the very high wind speeds, the actual movement of the storm across the continent is a slow 8km/hour. Night before: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KK0AV7ZMPQ
  19. Another good episode... Matt's wandering start to the race was a bit odd to follow but I guess
  20. And that's before you stop at VRent ;)
