  2. Well, the Windows 8 Beta expires mind January 2013, so it's a free Operating System for a year ;) The Windows 8 Start Screen replaces the old Start Menu, however the OS starts with the Start Screen (funnily enough). Treat it like your phone's home screen (unless you have an iPhone which is just an app menu). From there you can launch the proper Desktop by clicking on it's tile. (Most of) it's already running in the background, so you're just switching to it. From there you can use it like Windows 7, except the Start Menu continues to be replaced by that Start Screen (until someone finds a way to bring the Windows 7 start menu back).
  3. ...and the one behind you was wishing you'd get out of his way :p Seen plenty of cars Tom.
  4. FSX was a resource hog though. + I couldn't export my game settings (i.e. controls, mission completition/stats, etc) so it always took forever to set it up again, before being able to play at 15 FPS with mediocre graphics.
  5. TDU2 made it hard to fly around Hawaii, so let's see if MS Flight makes this any easier. This freemium game is designed to appeal to those who prefer arcade flying instead of a full-blown sim (although hopefully sim settings are still within). Grab the software from here and share your thoughts, pics, videos, etc. https://microsoftflight.com/en-US/home/ ---------- Post added at 15:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 15:13 PM ---------- I knew that the Games for Windows Live Marketplace products were a bit of a ripoff, but I'm feeling a tad more uneasy when I see the prices for currently available DLC: Microsoft Flight - Xbox.com If I understand corectly, Hawaii (the location) came free with a few missions, but to get the rest of them, we have to pay $20? Then you can spend $21 for two more planes? That's $41, or about half the price I paid for the ENTIRE FSX game (which contains numerous planes, and the WHOLE WORLD). Therefore I probably won't be purchasing any DLC until I get a better idea as to how much the entire game costs, by which time I hope there will be a heavily discounted bundle pack available.
  6. yes or a shutdown -s -t 3600 if you've got an hour to kill :p or shutdown -m \\COMPUTERNAMEOFSOMEONEONYOURNETWORKRUNNINGWINDOWSXPWHOYOUDONTPARTICULARLYLIKE -s -t 00 -f to shut down someone else's PC. (shutdown -a to cancel a scheduled shutdown) ---------- Post added at 15:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 13:30 PM ---------- Added another video to the first post for those who want to check out Win8 without installing.
  7. Congratulation Diablo on finally finding 7 spare minutes to compile that xD I will also point and laugh at everyone who spent more than 1 minute making their avatar pic :ym: And also a  for our chatbox resident and Mr Spam. No-one knew what IMoA meant when they voted so I don't really care. I almost won Worst Andai as well - that would've been interesting. I'm the best Admin? :hmmm:
  8. -s = Shutdown (-r for restart ot -l for logoff) -t 00 = do it now (instead of the default 60 second countdown) -f = force (i.e. ignore MS Word asking you to save your document)
  9. WinKey+R shutdown -s -t 00 -f Or make a desktop shortcut to that command. :) Once I actually test it out I'll let you know.
  10. I'm still downloading it but briefly used the Technical Preview that was released late last year/early Jan. I also think the Start Screen is not a good idea for Desktop PC users, although MS had some interesting stats regarding that here: #1 Evolving the Start Menu: Evolving the Start menu - Building Windows 8 - Site Home - MSDN Blogs #2 Designing the Start Screen: Designing the Start screen - Building Windows 8 - Site Home - MSDN Blogs #3 Reflecting on user comments: Reflecting on your comments on the Start screen - Building Windows 8 - Site Home - MSDN Blogs However I'm of the belief that enough clever people also prefer the old Start Menu and will find a way to bring it back for us, if Microsoft doesn't. For those who like reading there's also some MS blog posts following the Beta release here: #1 What's changed since the last release: Welcome to Windows 8 – The Consumer Preview - Building Windows 8 - Site Home - MSDN Blogs #2 System recommendations: Running the Consumer Preview: system recommendations - Building Windows 8 - Site Home - MSDN Blogs
  11. It seems a few of you have downloaded Windows 8 so feel free to discuss, criticise, share new features/tricks/hacks etc in here. A lot of you don't seem to recognise the Betta (i.e. Beta) Fish from the Windows 7 Beta either: :) http://www.google.com.au/search?q=betta+fish&hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-GB:%7Breferrer:source%7D&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=8q1OT6ziCoaziQfT3e1w&ved=0CF0QsAQ&biw=1320&bih=687

  14. If you don't know then it must be fictional :cheeky:
  15. Will try this then: I have a limited collection so don't complain :)
  16. Fictional cars in GT5? What is this I don't even I assume you mean concept cars? (i.e. GT by Citroen, Red Bull F1, etc)
