I seem to recall some movies such as Gone in 60 Seconds where tehy had another technique. Apparent;y for that bit in the water runoff place thing whatever they were really going no more than 30mph, they just used a camera with a higher capture rate and increased the speed at which they were played.

Its a movie, first i dont think cars were going to the real speed (camera and special effects can make the pursuit looking faster), and about which car is better than the other, that will be always the main character car whatever it is ^^
