released Eternal Skies mod [very minor update v1.1b]

ETERNAL SKIES MOD, made in 4 days.

 

*****very minor update 15/8/10 to v1.1b - see last post for changes

 

Motivation: to create persistent times of day that are faster cycling [about 15-30min?] and to make the sunsets lighting more colourfull.

 

The following 5 time cycles are included:

 

1. ETERNAL SUNSET [with orange lighting]

2. ETERNAL BLACK CLOUDS [late arvo - almost night/storm]

3. ETERNAL OVERCAST [with some sun peaking out]

4. ETERNAL DAY [blue sky/white clouds]

5. ETERNAL DAWN [dark blue sky/white sun]

 

To change from one to another you must exit the game and restart.

 

Most of the weather [except for sunset] will be similar to what you have already seen, but with different transitions come different outcomes.

 

Works with HDR on, but I have not fully tested HDR as I don't like the bloom effects in this game - it is over done.

note: to quicky preview the cycles you can change timescale from 200 to 2000 for fast [30sec] cycles, or reduce to 50 or 100 for slower cycles.

Hey eternal great mod but could you also upload to a filehost like filefront, megaupload, mediafire etc so that people don't have to register here in order to get it. Reason for this is we don't want any more people who just register for mods and then do nothing else or even participate within the community here.

HDR is supported in this mod, just not endorsed. [because i hate it!]

Very Very Minor Update: v1.1b

fixed: "SUNSET" and "overcast with SUNrays" timecycle speed slowed down in step 2, all other files are unchanged, update not needed for those who edit times themselves, mainly released for new/future downloaders.

thanks for crediting me, shame you didn't use my ETERNAL OVERCAST [with some sun peaking out] -is 1 of my faves.

 

i checked the .ini files in your mod, you have indeed made my 'dawn' as your 'clear blue sky' - it is not actually clear, there are a lot of foggy clouds and the sun is often hidden behind those, low on the horizon. that is why the sun is not visible in your screenshot, even tho it reflects on the ocean. if you watch the whole sequence, the fog changes to greyish clouds also.

 

apart from that, your installer looks good, [i made this mod for myself, and decided to share it with others, so did not worry about that side of it]

I have updated the weather in my mod and used your mod and the mod of Illusion and combined and changed it to make 4 different weather models:

but, when I am on the top of a mountain and its possible the see the ocean, it becomes a little strange: there isn't any line in the horizon. there is sky, and suddenly, there is ocean. that can't be improved?
