ETS2 and ATS discussion

If you don't like the various ETS2 maps because they're all spread out and scaled down with tiny towns linked by monotonous motorways, then you may be interested in this WIP map mod for Hungary. The plan is to make it much more realistic as far as density and scale go, and it feels 'lived in'. Walking pedestrians too.

Have a look here:

You'll need to make another new profile to use with this mod though. I'd say it's worth it if you're an ETS2 fan. Version 0.9 has 30 cities, but they're branching the road network out to hundreds of other towns.

We are happy to confirm that we now have the official approval to start building a new truck - Mercedes-Benz New Actros will be coming to Euro Truck Simulator 2!

Implementing a new truck model into the game is a time consuming adventure on the order of several months, so please be patient with us.

Once the New Actros is completed, we will have reached the dream scenario of having fully branded trucks from all seven major European truck manufacturers in our game. Frankly, four years ago when we started the first round of approaching truck companies, we were far from sure if we can ever reach this stage. From that point onwards, we would love to be able to keep up with model refreshes as well as take a look at alternate vehicle configurations, product lines, or specialized rigs.

There are now 3 trucks in various stages of completion under development for ETS2, but also 3 more truck models are under development at the same time for American Truck Simulator! (Well and then some coach buses too for yet another project). The vehicle team at SCS has grown to 4x the size it was two years ago, all thanks to never-ceasing support from our fans and customers. Some of you might dislike us spending time working on paint job packs for Steam, but in reality such work is not a distraction, it is buying us time to improve the game that was released on the market a year and a half ago, while also developing new projects in parallel.

As with most new truck models we are going to build, first we took a detailed look at the actual vehicle, kindly provided to us by Mercedes-Benz Czech Republic.

SCS Software's blog: Rounding up the set!

:yay: There have been numerous MP4 Actros mods already, but all of them had a rubbish interior, so I'm personally really happy that the good guys at SCS finally came to an agreement on the annoying licensing stuff with MB.

Interior seat position adjustments

OK, we expected interior camera to win, but definitely not by such a large margin. After making truck sim games for over a decade, we still have a lot to learn about our players! Your overwhelming majority vote concerning preferred use of interior camera when driving suggests that the attention we are currently putting into further enhancing your in-cabin driving experience is aimed the right direction.

So if you ever had a wish adjust your seat position behind the steering wheel, this upcoming feature will make you happy - it will allow you to do just that.

Here is a screenshot of how it is looking right now:

and some ATS renderings as well:

I tryed this multiplayer mod few days ago and it's a pure jewel.

First, about convoy, if you want to play with your friend, it's better to take mission as driver (those where you do not use your own truck) cause you can jump on a truck choosing where you start and where you arrive (depending on available mission). Of course vocal software as Skype, Oovoo, Mumble, Teamspeak3 are highly recommanded (this mod have its own TS server too given from chat ingame)

So, the online is very different from TDU/the crew games cause all people standing in front of you on the server will appear, you can do a big convoy of 30 trucks if you want! To get this result, they dropped the traffic off (wich was often half bugged on tdu cause online synchro, and cities looked more empty anyway. I was very surpised cause there is really lot of people playing this 1 year old game in a alpha mod that only few players know.

Also, lot of people drive clean respecting the basic rules (server kick every outlaws) and the gameplay (by missions) make the comunity very nice, maybe cause they have something to do and not only race like if you still was on a racetrack when you choosed a driving game on open world (TDU)

I think this game helped with this multiplayer should deserve now to have its own dedicated thread category cause it's more "open world" "driving" "online" than any other game until now.

From what I've read they had redone quite a lot things 'under the bonnet' meaning map and trailers mods for the older versions won't work in 1.14. Guess I'll have to wait a few weeks but then again I don't play much anymore so I ain't mad at all. :hmmm:

Great to see the new weather system in making. It's all coming together very nicely.

I'm not entirely happy with this update. The new DAF is nice, lots of the stuff they mentioned sounds good and they keep working like they have 100 people on the game, but the AI is still going downhill. The update is told to contain more realistic AI vehicle speed in curves, but I think they messed it up. Traffic now rapidly slows to 40 km/h on the big cloverleaf interchanges, when they simply have to make a loooong wiiiide curve to the right which you could easily do at 90 km/h. Already caused a crash and 2 circus manoeuvres to avoid an accident.

New update about to come: Correct dashboard illumination colors!

Just today we have finished programming one more neat feature - support for different color dashboard button back-light. Until now we were limited just to white back-light, but in reality way more color variety is used by truck manufacturers.

The screenshot below shows that immediately we have started improving the just-released Euro 6 DAF, for the next Euro Truck Simulator 2 update we would like to improve as much of our truck fleet for night driving as possible.

DAF_Euro6_dashboard_at_night.jpg

We have a plea for the real truckers among you. Finding good reference is very hard for us. We have taken tons of photos and videos of interiors while we test-drive the trucks, but we had seldom done so in the dark. If you have access to a truck featured in our game, would you be so kind to send us a photograph of the interior, with engine and lights on, taken in the evening? To give us a clear idea of the night-lit dashboard, you would have to take it without use of flash, so that the elements of the dashboard can be recognizable.

We have created a special section for this research on our message board, if you want to contribute to our know-how, please follow this URL: SCS Software View forum - ETS2 - dashboards at night. Thank you!

Update time, includes special event and achievements!

ANNOUNCING HOLIDAY SPECIAL EVENT: SCS POLAR EXPRESS

We've just received a cryptic letter with some very disturbing news: Santa Claus might not be able to deliver all gifts in time on his own! We were told that Father Christmas is looking for logistic professionals who want to help out with Santa's substantial delivery backlog.

Here's more details for elves truckers who want to help out to make sure that all gifts are delivered in time: The task at hand is delivering a unique kind of cargo over the distance equal to that of SCS Software office and the North Pole. Note that this distance can be covered across multiple deliveries. Progress of the deliveries can be tracked from your World of Trucks profile.

Santa always makes sure that everyone gets the gifts they deserve, and indeed, there is something special waiting for everyone who contributes his or her due to the effort to transport all the gift packages in our Polar Express 2014 Event. Succeed and you will be rewarded with a special Raven Truck Design DLC. This original tuning set cannot be purchased, the only way to obtain is to earn a Steam key for it during this limited-time event.

This update also brings some changes to our engine and structure of the game files, which may affect modifications. If you are involved in creating modifications, visit this page for more information about latest changes.

SCS Software's blog: SCS POLAR EXPRESS HOLIDAY EVENT

Now you might wonder how far you'd have to drive to get that achievement. You can see this on your personal World of Trucks page. Below ''Your Current Ride'' you will see the ''SCS POLAR EXPRESS - HOLIDAY DELIVERY EVENT''. The third line, ''Completed'', tells you how far you progressed for the achievement.

Another note on the Raven Design pack: once you have 100% completion (you can F5 your World of Trucks page after every Xmas Gifts delivery), you will automatically receive the achievement and under ''EVENTS'' you will find a message with the key for your Raven Design pack.

All you have to do is activate the key on steam, let steam download the ~5 MB pack, and then go ingame. The pack consists of two Raven paintjobs as shown above, plus a black wheel option for both front and rear axles.

Ryzza mentioned this in the chatbox and I figured I should post it here since it's so PRETTY.

SCS Software Blog: New Light and Weather System Coming

As you may have already noticed in some earlier screenshots we have published, there are considerable changes coming to the game environment. Several in-game graphic rendering elements have been altered or improved to achieve a richer color palette[..] The most noticeable changes to the systems are improvements to HDR tone-mapping calculations and sun shafts. Each weather condition now has its own specific lighting preset, allowing us to provide different scene illumination and reflectivity depending on the current state of game environment.

We are half-way through all this work, quite a lot of it is still ahead of us. We aim to release the improvements mentioned in this post alongside Scandinavia DLC [...] even if you don't rush to buy Scandinavia right away when it's released, you will get the visual changes as a part of a free game update available for all Euro Truck Simulator 2 owners.

Greetings, and Happy New Year 2015 to all of you!

Looks like Euro Truck Simulator 2 was played a lot during the festive season. Over 34,000 people managed to complete our Holiday Event! We are astounded by such activity and eager to provide more cool stuff on World of Trucks in 2015.

Holiday Event will come to an end on Wednesday, January 14th 2015. If you are still in progress of trying to earn your exclusive Raven Truck Design DLC by completing it - hurry up!

Another good news is that DLC Scandinavia is in the final production stages now. We sure still need to test it properly, tweak it, and optimize it - with such a big project that's a ton of work on its own - but we have considerably better testing capacity and process available to us now compared to previous project releases. Let's hope all will go smoothly.

Let us show you some screenshots around the Swedish city of Kalmar:
