Interestingly, I have the update, I'm using W10Privacy (thanks D :p), and I can no longer defer updates!

Thought it was about time to get the update after 'Checking for updates...' wasn't doing it itself and found a manual method via the link below. So if you are still waiting for the Anniversary update yourself, you can force it to come through via the program below. It's an official Microsoft one, not a third-party.

Also because the Anniv. update changes the Windows menu look and if like me you prefer to shut your system down via the Power icon (you can still Shift + Tab to get to it quickly) then note you can use the Win Key + X shortcut to access a quick Shutdown option or alternatively you can create a shortcut to slidetoshutdown.exe on your Desktop (and then Pin it to Start) that will show your Lock screen background which you can then -- as you probably figured -- drag down with your mouse to initiate the Shutdown sequence.

Why wouldn't you just make a shortcut to shutdown -s -t 00 instead?

 

Also there's still quite a few issues with the update being reported so I personally wouldn't recommend it just yet if you use the PC for gaming or webcam stuff, etc.

They basically introduced a new 'proxy' service for webcams to allow sharing with multiple programs using a modern codec, and broke 90% of the older webcams out there that use an older codec, including their own Microsoft cameras from last decade. (Webcams haven't really improved much in the last 8 years so no reason to upgrade them).

 

Then they didn't announce the change at all so none of their Windows Insider folks realised or reported it.

So what's wrong with gaming on the new update? I haven't noticed anything different in that regard :hmmm:

Wow, Win + X is a great wee time saver. I wonder what other useful shortcuts there are :hmmm:

Win + Q is good for doing searches.

You can r/click the bottom left corner for the Win+X menu as well. It's been there since Windows 8.

 

Win 8 had some other decent keyboard shortcuts as well that W10 deprecated.

+W, +C were two that I used.

Win + W now brings up the 'Windows Ink Workspace'... several things I didn't know existed. :eek:

Privacy is a no go, some say you can disable it and yeah, you can disable some of it, but not all, it's baked in it to be a spyware, nah, I'm good, windows 7 is the one to go
