vit-jan0 got a reaction from andrey zyb in Test Drive Unlimited: Project Paradise [v0.03A PUBLIC BETA AVAILABLE!]
Some feedback regarding game installation issues (game not launching, missing d3d) and how it was fixed:
After installing TDU1, applying 1.66A patch, game complains about SECUROM.
After applying n0-dvd patch exe, the game does not start (the small game window with black background appear for a second).
After i apply ProjectParadise d3d9.dll to the game direcory, and launch PP exe, it can not find d3dx9_43.dll
After i download and run DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) (directx_Jun2010_redist.exe) https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 it extracted files and i run extracted DXSETUP.exe file, it install DX update.
Win.+R; dxdiag; continue to show that i am running DirectX 11.
THen i install graphics card drivers using SDIO (Snappy Driver Instraller Origin) and reboot.
Game started launching through paradise launcher. (maybe DX update not did it, maybe graphics drivers & reboot)
In order to use my existing TDU profile backup folder, i have not known where it belongs so i created new profile in game, not ticking GameSpy and quit game.
Now copied my profile backups - "MyGameNickname" folder and ProfileList.dat file to C:\Users\me\Documents\Test Drive Unlimited\savegame\
    and launch the game again.
Following all tutorials/readme's in Platinum and PP pack, installing graphics drivers and reboot, game is working

there is a "default car" (some call it a hot dog - orange yellow colors) which appears when other driver is using custom car model that you do not have, also maybe sometimes when they are not using Platinum pack but other car pack.
Btw. here is a tutorial for TDUF how to export car/physics for sharing with other player.

vit-jan0 got a reaction from Djey in TDUF - Most advanced modding tools for TDU so far!
TUTORIAL: First steps in TDUF software, how to export car modification to a file ( file can be shared with others who can then import it in their DB using TDUF tool by @Djey )
    Select database:

Then click "Load" and select TDU folder:

Select car you want to export to a file:

Click "Select" to confirm car selection and "Use all" to export all the car data:

I can use this export file (patch) to later import it and overwrite car data in database. Sharing performance/tuning of the car with others or to revert my modifications to the previous state.
    SUMMARY:
---- How to import car in TDUF software? ----
    1) make sure databasse is loaded:
click "..." next to Database field and select Database folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Atari\Test Drive Unlimited\Euro\Bnk\
click Load, select Test Drive Unlimited folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Atari\
    2) export original car data (optional, you can then return to original state of the car):
select car name / Export / TDUF patch / select correct car / Use All / save file
    3) import car data:
select car name / Import / TDUF patch / click "Save" button to update the database, restart the game, modifications should be live

I'm surpised how much damage this tickbox can do. I also lost current progress and had to restore to an old backup. If anyone knows of a workaround please let me know..

The swinsuit is unfinished stuff from Atari. Sadly, when you make the normal clothes being accessible on bikes, you also have access to unfinished stuff.
Also, yeah, this whole process of modding TDU started in August 2016. Lol
Also, i am glad, really glad that you guys are enjoying it. This is what keeps me motivated to keep working on it, trying to make it even better.

Perhaps you should recognize, that TDU is not a simulation, like Project Cars.
If you want correct values / behavior at all, you should move on to these games.
TDU is an arcade game, just for some fun. 😉

If you trying to make it better please update, because instead of listening to me you oppose but I just feedback to you . And no not hardcore mode, it is normal game mode with all assist's are off. Im driving automatic for automatic cars. Driving paddle shift for paddle shifting cars. Driving manual+clutch for manual cars.

First off, this mod is absolutely incredible!  I don't know how much the physics were tweaks for the modded cars but coming from Assetto Corsa, some of these cars are spot-on in hardcore mode!
I have one request though: make Hardcode mode unlocked by default, or at least make it an option to gain champion status by default.
It took me several hours to unlock and I basically cheesed it by buying cars and doing a single challenge over and over again.  I have several friends who won't try this game coming from Assetto Corsa simply because of this limitation.  Sim racing enthusiasts like me would be crawling all over this game if hardcore mode could be used from the get go.

TDU connection takes a while to connect to people. And it will only do when you are at least 5km near someone.
Although, you need to port forward your router, to improve the connection.

The chat pops up when you press T. Each TDU session can hold at most 8 players, you see how many people are in the session by pressing F, or looking at the number below the GPS.
Usually, that number below GPS has a faded globe icon, if such icon stays a bit orange, means the game is having trouble to connect you to someone. It must stay, not just flash. If it stays blueish, means you just have nobody around or close enough to connect.

Well, from where do i even start? I guess the beggining.  So, i will adress a few things, so you can understand it better.

Back in 2016, i learned how to modify my own TDU game, learned how to add new cars, without replace an existing one. Replacing existing cars has been the way to moify TDU since 2008 if not earlier. But around 2015 people started to figure out a way to add a new entry. So, there was me, happilly adding new cars, untill i've come across a problem, while playing multiplayer, other people couldn't see my cars. That is when i decided to make a "car pack", which then became to be Ultra Community Pack.  TDU Platinum is basically Ultra Community Pack update v1.05.

So, to clarify, TDU Platinum doesn't have a team of people, it is basically a 1-person's work. I would be selfish to take full credit, because the mods i used were all mae by other people, for years and uploaded for public download. I did a few things myself, as i know how to edit textures, weather and the game database. But cars, sounds... that's not under my knowledge abilities. Everything was downloaded and added into the game in the best way i could find.  With that in mind, let's start to address the points/suggestions you made.

    1->
1.1 - The vehicle tachometer and speedometer, the 3D one, is set up in a software, called zmodeler. The modder who makes the car mod is responsible for such setup. The only way to fix this issue, is unlock the mod file, using HEX Editor (Keep in mind that this is not really well seen by TDU Modding Community) and edit it. All this, of course, if you know how to properlly set a tachometer/speedometer in a TDU car mod.

1.2 - Like i said, everything was downloaded. 99% of car mods don't have a sound mod, or a gauge mod for them, because to make them, it is required different skills. Usually, a car modder can't make a sound mod or a gauge mod, and a sound modder can't make a car, you get the point. So, unless they talk with each other to release a "full mod kit", that contains car, gauge and sound, you're pretty much on your own.  I actually know how to make gauge mods, but if i make them for every car, TDU Platinum would take not 3 years, but at least double the time. Because it ain't as easy as it sounds.

1.3 - Same issue with the Tachometer and speedometer. That is set on zmodeler, in the car mod file. To fix it, you need to unlock the file.

1.4 - Same as 1.3. Zmodeler limited. The position of the driver is set on zmodeler.
1.4 (2) - Not every car is on zeperfs, plus, some cars have ficticious power and acceleration, because they are upgraded versions that i added for better gameplay, such as D-Class Supra upgrades. TDU doesn't have a drag strip so i could measure 1/4 mile times of all the 880 vehicles. Plus, you're the first one to actually mention the need of accurate 1/4 times, specially because they have no influence on how a car performs in-game at all. It's just a data value to be displayed.

1.5 and 1.6 - TDU Platinum physics were devoleped in Hardcore mode. For some unknown reason, some cars do not perform the same when in normal mode. So, for any judging on how a car performs, please play on hardcore mode.  But a further explanation. TDU doesn't really work well. You have a "general" grip value, a general acceleration value. Some RWD cars, like the LaFerrari, have a higher acceleration value to match it's 0-60 time. I could increase the grip value, and it would have basically the same result, although, the car would have blistering performance on the corners, due the huge grip.  It's an old arcade game, compromises have to be made.

1.7 - I know the sound is a very important aspect of the pleasure of a driving game! But again, as said, these are mods, that require people to make them. I would love to have every single car sounding perfectly accurate, sadly, modders can't go and record real car samples. In fact, only a few modders actually still make TDU sound mods, because guess what? It ain't that easy.

1.8 - I didn't allowed the 3 "top cars" (P1, LaFerrari and 918) to be tuned because they are too good already. And cars that can reach over 400km/h in stock form also can't be tuned. But whatever. Maybe i will change that.

1.9 - I would like that too, unfortunatelly, it's impossible at the moment. Game was never meant to have such feature.

1.10 - I kinda disagree, but feel free to change it yourself. I provided the tool you need to edit it. It's called TDUF.

1.11 - Again, TDU Platinum was made in Hardcore mode, to really experience it's physics, please do drive there, and at least have some sort of throttle control, so, i don't recommend keyboard playing. And again, personal taste, i tried to make the cars as they are, not to fit a person's preference.

1.12 - It's literally impossible to have the "smoke" anywhere else but on start-up. That's how the game was coded.  And about the car RPM dropping slowly, keep in mind these cars are all mods, done by different people. So, compromises have to be made in order to get them at least driving well.

1.13 - Zmodeler issue. To fix it, you need to unlock the mod files aswell. Can't be done.

1.14 - That's because the sound mod requires it. It takes longer because it has a longer start up sound.

1.15 - Impossible to have such feature, as game never meant to have it.

    1.16 - 880 is not enough?

1.17 - Sadly, bike mods are a rare thing in TDU. The ones that there is, are kinda low quality and not worth adding.

    2 -->
2.1 - I kept the original traffic, because traffic mods are a huge factor in FPS drop. Since i wanted the game to run as light as possible, no traffic mods.

2.2 - Nobody so far managed to successfully add a new traffic car, because how they are coded.

2.3 - Impossible to have such feature, as traffic control is encrypted af and nobody really understands how they work.

2.4 - Frequency can sort of be controlled, but again, not in-game, since the file is encrypted, you gotta edit it via notepad, with the game closed.

2.5 - Impossible to change how the traffic behaves. Their path is encoded in the game core. But if you drive behind them, usually they leave their lane if they can. (they won't leave if they are overtaking or being overtaken)

    3-->
3.1 - I would like to see that too, but TDU map modding has just started with BEight. Nobody before him could really mod TDU map like that. And i already asked him about making the Airport as asphalt, and he told me that's not possible, because how the sectors work.

3.2 - Same reason of the Airport. You can't increase the amount of asphalt on a given sector. You can change it's place, but to create something new, you gotta remove from somewhere else.

3.3 - Sadly, that can't be changed either. As it's coded into the game.

    4-->
4.1 - Impossible to do that, as i don't think the game really measures it, plus, chronopack is a feature hard coded in the game.

4.2 - Impossible to do that aswell, same reason as 4.1

4.3 - You can actually change the songs. Press R, and then the button you assigned for left-right in the menus. Tap once, and it changes the radio, tap twice, and it changes the song.
More radios is not possible, but you can create 4 new radios per profile. They are the User radio.
TDU has a limit of songs per radio, hard coded limit. And there isn't a way to make them work different as they already do.

4.4 - Impossible to have such thing. Plus, TDU is about driving, go explore and memorize. It won't take that long.

4.5 - Why not? Maybe because it's also impossible to have it?

4.6 - Also impossible to do such thing.

    5-->
5.1 - I don't think so. I did that on porpouse. I want people to go play, explore and find the cars themselves. TDU itself never listed the 350Z Nismo, neither the Saleen S281. So, i want to preserve the "surprise effect" of the game. So, forget about it.

5.2 - Sadly, people will modify it regardless. Plus, i want modders to be able to work on the game aswell, so they can work on new projects and what-not. So, tools are required.
About Project Paradise, nothing can be done. Speeder and Lean are nowhere to be found, and only them can actually work on TDU servers.  But Frank Maestre, TDU's lead guy on multiplayer already said, many features require a separated server to run, which he is not willing to give the code, like he gave the free roam server code to Speeder and Lean. So, Project Paradise will remain as it is.
Turboduck is an old forum, that has changed platform quite a lot. Modders erased their download links, or they simply expired. We are a small team of 4 or so people that have a lot to do with our lives, and check every single topic will demand a lot of time.

But, now, to finish it up, i will say what i think. I think you were quite pedantic on your post. I know, good intention, but the fact that you haven't even considered that if it was possible, it would have been done kinda upsets me. TDU Platinum is a mod that took me 3 years to make, i did what i could, and you paid nothing for, yet, you come here and post a really long list of wishes and desires without even consider the possibility of something not being possible to be done, otherwise it would have been made.  Feels ungrateful, despite of what you said at the beggining.

That's exactly what i tried to do. But the problem i found is that bots simply can't handle well. They start to mess up the corners, and go straight into the bushes. Plus, each bot has their own "skill". Set every bot at maximum "skill" breaks the game.

I want many things aswell, but sadly, some things are beyond our capabilities. The best way to make TDU hard is to use underpowered vehicles for the events, in hardcore mode.

2000 of grip is a lot, but yeah, a 1000hp Dodge Viper won't have grip with street tires if you mash the throttle. You either gotta control your throttle input or active electronic aids (TCS).  It's supposed to behave like that. It's supposed to be hard to drive without aids. Lol  If it's too easy, it will be too much OP, as it's really cheaper than hypercars that have same amount of power. It has it's downside.

    Yes.

TDU takes a while to connect, so you must wait for a while. Although, you may not be able to join a session for different reasons. Session could be full (max 8 players), session could be broken, which requires players to remap, session could be isolated, or you just can't stabilish a good connection with the players.

vit-jan0 got a reaction from MagicV8 in TUTORIAL: HOW TO MAKE A SOUND MOD FOR TDU
Tutorial #2 Here is my tutorial inspired by Nick1999 , but using different (free) audio editting software
How to modify TDU1 car engine sound?
I have found youtube video with clean engine sound of the car of my choice and used this sound for a TestDrive Unlimited 1 car.
Result is not terrible and not too good. But here is how i did that:
    1. Download TDUMT (TDU Modding tools 2) software Mini Bnk manager - https://github.com/djey47/tdumt2/releases
    2. Open it and select appropriate .bnk file. For example C:\Program Files (x86)\Atari\Test Drive Unlimited\Euro\Bnk\Sound\Vehicules\Enzo_FXX_audio.bnk
    3. Click Load button, then click Unpack all button. Open appropriate .wav audio file located in the output directory you have defined. Open it in the Audacity software - https://www.audacityteam.org/
On the bottom, click "Start and end of selection" and instead define to show Length and end of the tracks, it is important later to see the length.
    4. you can find on the internet appropriate videos/sounds: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=ferrari+fxx+sound+onboard&atb=v126-1&iar=videos&iax=videos&ia=videos
You are looking for the rather rare, several seconds long sound which RPM is steady - same on the beginning and on the end.
    5. Find online tool to convert your video into a sound. For example i searched: youtube to wav audio" and i found https://ytmp3.cc/en13/
    6. add your sound file in Audacity and make sure it is mono, not stereo (track dropdown/arrow menu or the Tracks/Mix menu has the option). Stereo had issue playing right in TDU1. Find the part of the track with steady engine sound and highlight this part and copy this part into new track for future use.
    7. double click original TDU engine sound track in Audacity to see its length and note the length.
    8. copy the best (most steady sound) part that match the original sound track length into yet another new track leaving longer version for possible future use
    9. click File, Export, Export as WAV and Save as type: Other uncompressed files, WAV, Microsoft ADPCM. Before confirming, you may backup original .wav sound before overwriting.
    10. Now do the same for other sound file (possibly there are multiple files for each engine RPM and also files when the gas pedal is pushed and when it is released! so total maybe more than 6 files to make!) For each RPM audio file you may want to modify pitch (the Effects menu) or the Speed to make the sound different.
    11. re-pack the sounds into a .bnk file using "Repack" button in the TDUMT software. The directory to select is in my case "C:\work\Enzo_FXX_audio.bnk" directory.
It saved Enzo_FXX_audio.bnk file which i then copy to C:\Program Files (x86)\Atari\Test Drive Unlimited\Euro\Bnk\Sound\Vehicules\Enzo_FXX_audio.bnk (backing up original before overwritting!!!!!!!)
    9. Launch TDU1 to see the result.
    10. Save the Audacity session for future use and further work.
    ISSUES:
    - car makes no sound. I do not know the cause, but it helped to quit Audacity and TDUMT and start it again, load the original bnk file in TDUMT, unpacking and copying already customized audio files from previous unpack to new unpack and then repacking.
    - the high RPM sound is not fluent in looping. Answer:
    A) maybe your sound track is too short and not same length as original, try to increase length a bit, but possibly not more than 1 second above original track length? You can try playing your sound in loop (doubleclick track or click "Solo" button and then Shift+space or shift + play button) to see if the error is in different/non matching beginning and the end of your sound track - https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_looping.html . Then you can maximal zoom-in and find some anomalies in the sound/adjust it by a "pencil tool". You may find that there is a gap between the sound sequences (inc ase you had too short sound and used cloned/duplicated the sound to make it longer. Use menu Edit / Clip boundaries / Join.

I disliked erroneous Enzo FXX sound so i spent numerous hours learning and trying to make my sound mod. I based it on the sounds from this video   The resulting sound is not stereo (i think the TDU1 needs mono). Also somehow the Audacity software which i used was unable to amplify the volume of the imported .mp3 more without loss of quality, thus the resulting quality is a rubbish. Note also erroneous looping in high speed and RPM due to my soundtrack start and end is different (i may hopefully attempt to fix it and beside that also replace "default" sounds when gas pedal is not pushed).   In this mod i only worked with 3 sound tracks for RPM where gas pedal is pushed, rest 3 when pedal is not pushed i left default for now.   For each track i changed pitch (option in the Audacity - so the sound is different in various RPM. One can change pitch and the speed. When changing speed, then one needs very long steady sound which may be problem to find on the internet. One may edit the sound manually, but it is too difficult and time consuming to return something good. Better to use long sound track and find part with steady RPM from beginning to the end. Tutorial on how to mod the TDU1 car sounds.   Video featuring original TDU1 FXX sound HERE Video featuring my modified TDU1 FXX sound HERE   PS: if you dislike my work, i invite you to make a better sound mod for this car as this car really deserve it guys 👌   HERE actual .bnk file (last updated 5/16/2020) needed to apply my sound mod. There is no way that it's that simple. Believe me, if it were that simple, I'd have made a lot more mods by now and they'd all sound way better >_>

You need to get a sample with a continuous pitch and volume, which is difficult when the engine is revving quickly (or even accelerating slowly). The car basically needs to be on a dyno (which is bad because of the whirring) or at a standstill, holding a constant RPM - and very few videos are like that.
