  2. Friendly reminder that you've only got a year to go ;)
  3. Anyone think it would be worth having a 'Latest Poll' section underneath Latest Posts and Articles on the index?

  5. DGSotW Hall of Fame Week 40 Theme: Stationary Chosen by: T1M Winner: Clarence
  6. Congrats to T1M for winning last week. * Stick to the implied theme (don't look for technical loopholes) * Images must not exceed 5MB, and be at least 990px wide by 340px tall. * Each person who enters must cast a vote in the same week to remain eligible. You may not vote for yourself. * Winning image must not be of TDU2 as you risk account suspension. * Winner picks the next theme, unless winning consecutively, in which case the runner up decides. * Winner has 48h to PM a new theme to me or another member of staff if I'm away, if they fail to meet this then the theme will be a free round. * Competition is limited to games on all platforms of any age that are classified as driving/racing games. (i.e. FPS games that have cars in them wouldn't be eligible). Please mention what game your screenshot is from. * Minor non-enhancing editing permitted (cropping, addition of your name, etc) is permitted, as long as the actual screenshot isn't tampered with. Just like all these other comps. Week 40: Stationary
  7. Thanks for dropping by Sponge.... I guess I haven't made it clear enough yet that I've already purchased the MY14 Honda CBR500R ABS. I've been picking up as many tips as possible by watching hours of YouTube footage but if you've got any other pearls of wisdom to share then please feel free to do so
  8. Riding a bike here can't be any worse than driving a car in Russia
  9. I don't intend to be anything other than careful
  10. Just riding around the local area building confidence and then probably mainly commuting in decent weather with the odd fun ride. It's about 15 meters away. ;) Running a bike is hardly any cheaper to run/maintain than a car somewhat surprisingly. Annual registration and insurance are only slightly cheaper than the car, servicing costs are the same but at more frequent intervals (every 12,000kms for the bike compared to 15,000 for the car, or every year for both), then I've been told tyres only last something like 5,000kms and are a few $100ea to replace. Chain maintenance is a bit of pain (DIY) otherwise replacing them sooner is also expensive. Not to mention the $1850 I spent on riding gear (none of which is rated for winter). Then there's money to be spent on further training courses. So we'll see how we go. If anyone is still in touch with Tom (Sponge) I wouldn't mind getting his thoughts here :)
  11. If you're just riding around town then a 125 will be pretty fun but both the 125 and 250 are grown out of pretty quickly. I went on my 3rd ever ride today and I was fine with the 500, took it on the freeway with no dramas. 125's and 250's wouldn't feel anywhere near as stable going that fast (of course they'd struggle to go that fast), not to mention the lighter bikes being a bit scary in the wind. So if a more powerful isn't that much more expensive than a slow one, then go for it I reckon. My biggest struggle is getting the bike out of the backyard up the driveway between our 4 parked cars atm.
  12. So after sitting on a few bikes I found the sportier CBR500RA had a wider and much more comfortable seat than the 500X and it's also ~$1000 cheaper and looks better, so quite the easy decision there. Haven't worked out how to attach the GoPro anywhere yet (misplaced some of my mounts) so I'll just attach some other Aussie's review of the bike (warning language) Mine is White (Tri-Colour) and has ABS, and immobiliser and steering lock built in. I've ridden it 3 times now, filled up the tank today (which is a bit of a faff) for $15.
  13. I don't want to have to click thumbnails. ;) The image size limits here are huge now anyway - check the rules thread.
  14. I like the 86 pic Can you embed larger images instead of thumbnails?
  15. I knew CS2 was free but I thought it only worked on old versions of Windows. Great shots anyway, I find it takes too long for me to get too few good shots.
  16. Kudos to Kunos! Up until now, if you wanted to race on a laser-scanned version of "Green Hell", you either needed an rFactor Professional license, or you needed to be a successful racing driver employed by a team who have their own simulator. Financial issues plaguing the 'ring' over the past few years has made realising this dream a challenge, but now the ambitious studio behind Assetto Corsa are setting out to make that a reality in September 2014. In addition, Kunos will feature 10 community-chosen vehicles in this Dream Pack DLC. Keep tabs on updates to their official website to have your say. http://www.assettocorsa.net/nurburgring-news/
  17. Delete the radial.cdb file in %appdata%\Test Drive Unlimited iirc
  18. erm, check back tomorrow, assuming I don't kill myself trying to ride it home (just like when you learn to drive a car for the first time when you're ~16, it's best to learn to ride a bike that's (currently) too fast away from traffic. I'll probably have to go on the highway too to fill up the tank. I went on a test-ride on Saturday, in the middle of a large busy town that's full of immigrants who literally can't drive. I had one person coming towards me the wrong way down a one-way service road. Not to mention I first applied the throttle coming out of the shop carpark as if it were the 125c bike I learned on and almost careered into a parked car on the other side of the street... bloody terrifying  I'm trying to work out if there's any way to record some decent footage without permanently attaching anything to the bike or helmet.
  19. How exactly does one manage to do that? :umm: I've referred to this requirement in 4 different places, not to mention the tick box in itself being a giveaway compared to the radio (circular) buttons.
