  1. James made a good case for the Mercedes Jeremy made a good case for the i8 [spoil](until back to the studio)[/spoil] Will was entertaining. Richard's piece was less gripping (not to take anything away from how frightening it must have been), but despite [spoil]me expecting the old LR to still be in pieces[/spoil], I still had a good laugh at it.
  2. Can't knock you for trying (although part of me wonders if there is something wrong with your wheel (or you)) :cheeky:
  3. TDU1's physics aren't that big an improvement, plus I don't think it's very off-road friendly (i.e. no dirt tyres you can install). So all the dirt roads would behave like the airports at best (I'm guessing). But it would be interesting to see if part of TC's map could come across as a test (i.e. West Coast)
  4. It's the limiting factor though. Going by all the other most importantest things in this thread then a BMW M3 or Porsche 911 or Ferrari 488 GTB would be better. Desired car tends to = [What you can afford] + n (car fans tend to stretch the budget a little). ;)
  5. And how many of us are? (I'm not).
  6. Interesting how no-one has mentioned the price yet. Kids
  7. Or you could ask IvT to fix their game for you. Remember they mentioned having to rework their game engine... which might imply that the TDU1 engine simply cannot handle a map that big.
  8. Does anyone know what 'improtant' means anyway? :susp:
  9. You don't have to wait... just come down here.
  10. Yep, if you're far away from the trees and/or whizzing past them at 250kph you're not likely to notice that optimisation, whereas making all the leaves 3D would be a massive FPS killer, so it's an easy decision to make. Because they're 2D, they always have to face a player (otherwise at side-on you'd only see a line), which is why they appear to rotate when in freecam/photomode (also possibly in replay mode). You may find one day that there is a transitional phase employed later where only critical nearby trees are fully 3D and others are not. Or, devs may choose to improve other things and leave tree tech 'as is'. If you've got access to the WMD forums there is a 3D Trees thread there where there are some technical posts made by SMS on the subject. I think Bathurst had (or has, I forget) 3D trees at one point.
  11. This is why smilies should be mandatory for every post :hmmm:
  12. I'm interested in your reasonings. I've played just about every driving game and sim available, and I also have real life race track experience, and with my Fanatec wheel I feel more connected to the virtual cars in pCARS than in any other sim. iRacing is close but they key differentiator is the modelling of the accelerator pedal, and the subtle aural feedback you get from it... this allows you to get closer to the edge of grip without going over in a more consistent way. Speaking of... many older sim's simply reduced grip to increase the challenge, but speak to anyone with track experience and they'll tell you it's a complete myth. (The whole reason why BC joined SMS in the first place. See also Tiff Needell's video review of various racing games). Racing cars in particular with big fat slick tyres have bucket-loads of grip. GT3 race cars have ABS and stability control. Circuit racing is about fast lap times, not drifting (might be a by-product but not a requirement). Of course, if your feedback is based on random tests without checking the forums to see what the devs were working on or experimenting with then you might want to try again later. Don't forget wheel settings and car setup can also make a big difference :)
  13. You do realise that you don't have to be able to play the game with everything set to Ultra, right? I wish more games had visual settings beyond the reach of many so that they would look even more awesome years later. Similar to how my old PC couldn't play TDU1 on stock High settings, but on newer PCs I could play at the highest settings AND make use of HQ texture mods, the HD (draw distance) mod, and force higher AA. If the game was optimised to extreme levels, it wouldn't be dynamically calculating stuff and therefore wouldn't be a simulation. Same reason why MS Flight Sim X was never "optimised".
  14. Same deal in TDU1 and many other games. It's called compromising quality and with performance.
  15. I guess we better all jump on board X Motor Racing if the bots tell us to  btw I have played the X Motor Racing demo many years ago when it was new, it was absolute rubbish then and looking at the video above it seems like nothing has changed. iirc I had to spend an hour working out how to map by wheel controls in a config file because they had no in-game interface to do it.
  16. Same, had a brief cruise with someone a month ago at their request but haven't really played it since late December. No one is organising cruises, and it takes a good 30 mins to relearn its physics to drive quickly. One day I'll get around to exploring all of the map and become more familiar with navigating it but got a few other things on atm.
  17. Where's the rest of it?
  18. There's more to cars than just their external body * Internal cockpit * Damage model, deformation * Ambient Occlusion (reflections) * Sounds * Physics * AI control * Customisation, tuning parts If that photo was taken as soon as the external body was complete, it would hardly be fair accuse them of holding something back just for the sake of it.
  19. The operation was successful. I also split up the list to save people from destroying their scroll wheel.
  20. bit.ly Or we can insert a post below the OP for you.
  21. So did it work?
  22. Don't ever leave us again!
