DGSotW Week 23: Road Legal Versions of Racing Cars (1980-1999)
Ryzza5 replied to Ryzza5's topic in Driving & Racing Games
If you are only communicating to one person - use the PM system, the rest of us don't need to see it. -
I sent you a PM about this ages ago and you never replied... If we're assigning games to people then I'll hang onto Project CARS and other PC Sims; anything I don't cover (which basically comes from bsimracing) is fair game for others.

Had a quick look around the community center area but couldn't see any brand new houses with signs on them I'm expanding the monster trap to improve it's effectiveness. It'll encompass a much larger area between my house, MrLol, Calster, and flagimbarb. I'll then make the surrounding paths well lit and try to keep the fenced off area dark to attract mobs. Next phase will be to build a skywalk over the area with shooting (bow & arrow) platforms. Still WIP do please don't mess it up too much. See, it does work: gusty was throwing snowballs around, harley's dog got quite mad, decided to release him for the luls

Next person who bickers in this thread will be dealt with by staff  -
Didn't someone suggest ender chests as a solution?
-
Have you connected your house to the emergency tunnel system yet? Also be sure to put a sign on your house identifying it as yours :)

DGSotW Week 23: Road Legal Versions of Racing Cars (1980-1999)

Do you want him to get more votes than us or something Milli? Keep quiet  -
lol I built it as a temporary shelter for night time as I was going to explore the next volcano down, can you can take it down if you want, just chuck the door in one of my chests. Instead of getting to explore I was called to rescue my brother who tried digging a tunnel but fell and got stuck in a undiscovered ravine (landed in water so didn't die). After building it I noticed your cool sliding door underneath - looks great. Didn't go inside though. So Telos_IV cen be reached via tunnel just before you climb up to Harley's house (I finished that tunnel for him but Harley dug from the other end, not sure if he close off the tunnel from his mine so beware), and it can also be reached via tunnels just before gusty's house. I will later dig a tunnel from gusty's bridge back towards my place under the NPC village, and I may dig from the community house towards iLLGT3 to loop that off. What are those other buildings in that area? Some screenies View from my treehouse: Somebody is in distress - commence digging new emergency tunnel Khev's 1-star hotel :cheeky: How I found my property the other day  How it should look

Weren't the majority of all road going racing cars from that era anyway? i.e. Mercedes, Ford, BMW touring cars, various rally cars (already mentioned) -

No idea if this meets the requirements - Matt couldn't even pick a theme, just gave me a vague description :fp: Standard road car with a livery -
FSA/FCA wrap-up. The investigation is essentially completed, here's the headlines: pCARS (current project) * No fines or prison for Ian Bell :D * SMS must make it clear to everyone that they can get a refund at any time (up until the game ships). Refunds were always being offered anyway (you just had to ask nicely or be really rude to the devs) :p * Sign-ups/tool pack purchases will not be reopened. We already hit the target in November 2012 so no big deal (only those who took their time and missed out... miss out :) -edit- there may actually be a way to get into the project s**n but I can't share the details on what Ian is planning. If you're locked outside and interested in joining make sure you have some funds ready to go. This is still not a tool pack purchase though. Going forward (future WMD projects) * Developers will need to maintain a higher stake than the 30% model currently used. Can't remember if it was specifically 50% or not. Other news * SMS are official developers for the Wii U now and have the dev kit.... and now they are also official developers for another new console  /tease

DGSotW Hall of Fame Week 23 Theme:Road Legal Versions of Racing Cars (1980-1999) Chosen by: prophecy Winner: Mercedes-Benz
-
Congratulations to Prophecy for winning the Driving Game Screenshot of the Week last week. * Stick to the implied theme (don't look for technical loopholes) * Images must not exceed 2048kB, and be at least 990px wide by 340px tall. * Each person who enters must cast a vote in the same week to remain eligible. You may not vote for yourself. * Winning image must not be of TDU2 as you risk account suspension. * Winner picks the next theme, unless winning consecutively, in which case the runner up decides. * Winner has 48h to PM a new theme to me or another member of staff if I'm away, if they fail to meet this then the theme will be a free round. * Competition is limited to games on all platforms of any age that are classified as driving/racing games. (i.e. FPS games that have cars in them wouldn't be eligible). Please mention what game your screenshot is from. * Minor non-enhancing editing permitted (cropping, addition of your name, etc) is permitted, as long as the actual screenshot isn't tampered with. Just like all these other comps. Week 23: Road Legal Versions of Racing Cars (1980-1999) http://i746.photobucket.com/albums/xx106/TDUFREAK500/SlammedE36M31_zpsef823c30.png

To an extent I share those concerns, but I'm keeping in mind the career design in mind (that hasn't been coded yet). From the very beginning the concept was not to copy every other driving game where you grind to win money to collect cars. Instead you are replicating a real racing career virtually (a bit like some of the old ToCA games). So that means you could do one or two seasons in the same car. The focus now becomes, not how many cars you have, but how many racing disciplines there are. You could potentially spend a lot of time in such a game - we'll see.

Tunnel system has now reached gusty's weird looking mansion. And I didn't even accidentally tunnel into his massive mineshaft :D I'll probably tunnel back the other way under the NPC village, under my house where it should meet up with the other tunnel I built today, linking up khev's hotel and ILLGT3's place. I tried to record some footage in FRAPS but this kept causing the game to freeze
