  4. Project CARS allows you to create liveries for the cars that you use, so, this thread was created so you can share the ones you made! Post yours! How to install the liveries in the game: Install the nVidia DDS plugin for Ps. NVIDIA Texture Tools for Adobe Photoshop Resize image in Ps to 4096x4096 Save as DDS using default options Undo the resize so that it's no longer square/squished Place DDS file in game installation directory, under steamapps\common\pcar\Vehicles\Liveries\Custom (or whatever it's called - rough guess) Fire up the game and choose the car, switch the livery left. P.S. Thanks Ryzza5 for the step-by-step on how to install those. I will start with those: [headline]Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 - Turboduck "Full"[/headline] Download [headline]Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 - Turboduck "Vision" (Beta)[/headline] This one still needs some adjustments, as i can't test it myself. 5. The @GAMEdigital twitter just revealed that they got dibs from BandaiNamco UK that Project CARS the crowd-funded sim-racer from developers Slightly Mad Studios will be releasing at the latter end of November on the 21st, which is a Friday btw. It's amazing to think how long this project has been going and for those of us lucky enough to have been able to watch and of course playtest it as it's evolved is quite something indeed.
  6. Presented in a beautiful steel case along with four striking sleeve designs and a behind-the-scenes book entitled "Project CARS: By Racers 4 Racers”, the Limited Edition also comes complete with five legendary cars drivable in any game mode and showcased with special one-make series within your career. With a combined top speed of over 1200 km/h and with 2000+ horsepower between them, the BMW M1 Procar, Mercedes C-Coupe DTM, McLaren F1, and Sauber C9 are all leading examples in sports, touring, and prototype car culture ready for you to push to the limit out on the track in all game modes. PLUS! To this day it remains one of the fastest production cars ever made. Sauber C9 With a top speed of 248mph, the Sauber C9 was a Group C Prototype that still holds one of the fastest records at Le Mans. In the 1989 season it won all but one race of the World Championship making it a dominant force on the track and an aspirational legend. BMW M1 ProCar During its years participating in a bespoke one-make series, Group 4 events, and various national series, the M1 Procar saw many legendary drivers such as Niki Lauda and Nelson Piquet behind the wheel and even a custom paint job by visionary artist Andy Warhol. Mercedes-AMG C-Class Coupé DTM With its predecessor being the most successful car in the 28-year history of DTM, the AMG C-Class Coupé is a stronger, safer machine built on a naturally-aspirated V8 engine and incorporating larger wheels and a huge rear wing to make it one of the most competitive cars running in DTM today. 1967 Ford Mk IV Winner of both the 1967 Le Mans 24H and Sebring 12H, and driven by legendary driver Mario Andretti, the Mk IV was ahead of its time breaking new technical ground that has influenced car construction through to the modern day where it still holds the record of being the only American car to have ever won the classic endurance race. 11. Slightly Mad Studios is proud to announce a new partnership with the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, organizers of the world-famous 24 Hours of Le Mans, that will allow gamers to experience the world’s biggest motor race in Project CARS. Players will be given the unique opportunity to tackle one of motorsport’s most daunting and challenging tasks, a high-speed race twice around the clock at day & night, rain or shine. Project CARS will be the first racing game to properly simulate all the aspects that make the Le Mans 24 Hours one of the most challenging racing events in the world, as gamers will be given the chance to run the event in real-time, facing a full grid of 55 opponents on track. On their way to the top spot of the podium, players have to dodge GT traffic at high speeds and fight the elements as Project CARS dynamic time-of-day & weather engine makes the virtual race twice around the clock every bit as unpredictable & challenging as the real event. To ensure we capture all the essence of the legendary race in Project CARS, our development team is aided by no less than three race drivers that competed in last weekend’s edition of the event: While Rene Rast and Oli Webb successfully raced each other and 16 competitors in the LMP2 class, finishing 3rd & 4th in class, Project CARS Physics & Handling Consultant Ben Collins was busy in the GTE class. Their experience will translate directly into the game, allowing all gamers to share the thrill of competing in this legendary event. First run in 1923 as the Grand Prix d’Endurance, the Le Mans 24 Hours have become one of racing’s crown-jewel events as no race driver career is complete without a start at the French classic. For more than eighty years, the world’s most famous manufacturers and drivers have been flocking to central France each June, trying to make their mark on this prestigious event by proving both the superior speed & reliability of their cars. Project CARS will feature a true to life virtual version of the Circuit of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Using a mix of permanent race track and closed public roads, the track’s 13,6 kilometer layout poses a unique challenge that is unlike any other circuit in racing. One of the circuit’s most distinctive features is the legendary Mulsanne straight. A public Route National for most of the year, the six-kilometer stretch of road turns into a slipstream battleground each summer as prototypes reach speeds of more than 340 kilometers an hour on the legendary “Hunaudieres”. Going along with the track will be plenty of machinery that has shaped the history of the event, including Audi’s extremely successful 2002 Audi R8 & 2011 R18 TDI prototypes as well as Ingolstadt’s newest creation, the Le Mans race-winning 2014 Audi R18 e-tron quattro. The popular LMP2 class is represented by two cars as Project CARS will feature both the Alpine A450 LMP2 as well as the ORECA 03 LMP2, representing more than 80% of this year’s LMP2 grid within the game. Project CARS will also honor some of the race’s most legendary cars as players will be able to experience Le Mans legends like the race-winning 1978 Renault Alpine A442B, the 1990 Mercedes Benz Sauber C9 Group C car & BMW’s 1999 V12 LMR prototype. To celebrate the addition of the Le Mans 24 Hours, Gaming Nation UK will be running a virtual 24 hour race for charity using Project CARS. To find out more about their event and to donate to the worthy cause, make sure to check out their JustGiving page. Project CARS will be coming to the Playstation 4, Xbox One, Steam OS, WiiU & PC, starting November 2014.

  14. Audio lead Dr Stephen Baysted has been in the studio at London recording the needed sound bytes for the 'Pit 2 Car' feature in Project CARS. It'll take a while yet to post process the results and to implement the extra functionality that has been written in, but as a rough estimate the script is about 5 times bigger than GTR2 and has many many times more variations. The feature will be authentic in design, with audible interference and white noise - no crystal clear communication like in Shift 2 Unleashed. With full damage and failures enabled, you there's even a chance of losing radio communications completely, as does sometimes occur in real life.
  15. This new trailer shows a large part of what has culminated over the many years of development this game has been in production, and now as we edge ever faster through the year of 2014 the official media drops are starting to happen and as the old saying goes; good things come to those who wait. And this is none ever truer than Project CARS from Slightly Mad Studios. Having been watching this game for many years it's now quite remarkable to think that this game is actually coming and it is truly going to be one hell of an introduction for this brand new franchise that will easily take-on the big names in their domain. Can honestly see this game being the one you switch between with The Crew.
  16. As a Project CARS Manager, one of my perks is having a livery of my choice in the final game. Since I can't think of any good ones that benefit me, the next obvious choice is to make a tduck livery. I'm not asking anyone to actually make this for me (although if you can that would be great ), but rather the purpose of this thread is just to form a design committee to help form the livery from start to finish. Since none of you can view the thread directly I'll have to copy the brief here - just don't spread this out everywhere ok (nothing super secret, it's just in the Manager forum because that's the logical place for it). The tasks as I see them are: 1. Get Diablo's approval/thoughts - done 2. Pick base car/car type (thinking GT3 or street class... maybe one of the yet-to-be-announced Audi's) 3. Pick base car paint colour(s) - done (yellow body, orange bonnet, green roof) 4. Design logos and choose best one, also the main font type and colour turboduck Diablo to provide larger/alternative PSD files 5. Dream up additional sponsor names/logos and/or use existing SMS ones Graham's Goat Washing Someone to create and submit draft logo I <3 Bacon rear ID plate Members to think of a plausibly legitimate business name (not real) and submit draft logos 6. Logo/text/sponsor placement on car 7. Driver Names 8. Car/Driver number - done '07' I'm open to all suggestions (even if you're not artistic you can think of sponsor names that somewhat reflect our heritage and insanity (I forsee a Goat Washing sponsor for instance). Of course Diablo (site/brand owner) and myself (perk owner) can overrule if we feel we have to but I'm hoping this will be a popular community project. Just remember this livery will appear in the final game for you to select and take awesome screenshots of so get involved. *waits for Diablo* Previous examples: Is the Audi theme a coincidence?Diablo to provide larger/alternative PSD files
  17. After a few site-visit from Nic Hamilton, Ben finally makes an appearance. Having driven a wide variety of vehicles to their limit thanks to his 8-year stint as the Stig for TopGear UK, as well as professional racing experience from Karting, to ASCAR, and even V8 Supercars @ Bathurst and Formula 1, Ben is a great choice for the role of handling consultant. He has previously shared his optimism for this simulation on his Twitter account and also briefly in his recent AMA thread on Reddit. Click here for more: http://www.wmdportal.com/projectnews/ben-collins-visits-slightly-mad-studios/ For WMD members who want to see more detailed information and Ben's feedback, click here: WMD Forum
  18. A fun series for those of us don't have the time/commitment to join one of the other serious leagues. By casual, I mean it's not the end of the world if you miss a couple of races The format would be as follows: One short practice/qualifying race (i.e. 3 or 4 laps) which will set the grid. Then 2 longer races on the same track (about 25 minutes each), the second being reverse grid. Points are awarded for the top 15 drivers. At the end of the series, we subtract the worst results from say 6 races from everyone (which means drivers could miss up to 6 races (3 nights) without any championship disadvantage, which keeps things closer for everyone). The goal is to have fun and keep things close for drivers of varying skill level. "Casual" does not apply to driving standards though. If you bump-pass or hit someone off the track, you will need to safely pull off the racing line (check your mirrors), wait for them to recover, and follow them and retry the overtaking maneuver. This helps to prevent needless contact since you risk your own position, and if you get punted off the track, you've still got someone to race against. The car is the Gumpert Apollo S on default tyres. You can change the rest of the setup but must post a screenshot of your changes on the WMD at least 15 minutes before qualifying starts The start time for the practice/qualifying race would be at 11:45am GMT (which is 8:45pm Australian Eastern Time (GMT+10)). The first race will start 15 minutes later. --- Registered Teams/Drivers: Team Beran #7 - Ryzza5 #8 - WonderWeasel Team 2 # Ozzmcom # MrLolololXD Team X Global Systems #24 - Santtu #25 - T3hReaper91 Team SMAD Racing #19 - TDUFREAK500 #20 - Destroyer-GT Team 5 # LeDude83 # leadclimbing Team 6 # Mostly Sunny # BuToNz Team Garton Racing #12 - gsto2 #13 - cjorgens (NB I have this thread posted on the WMD forums which is where the additional names are from) Saturday July 20 - Practice & Testing at Anhalt Short using various cars (all in one car first race, all in another car second race, etc) to compare lap times - not compulsory but would be a good chance to meet each other and see what everyone's driving style is. SEASON 1 CALENDAR Saturday 27 July - Round 1 (Practice + 2 races) - Heusden (Zolder - Belgium) Saturday 3 August - Round 2 (Practice + 2 races) - Bologna (Imola - Italy) Saturday 10 August - Round 3 (Practice + 2 races) - Moravia (Brno - Czech Republic) Saturday 17 August - Round 4 (Practice + 2 races) - Eifelwald GP (Nurburgring - Germany) Saturday 24 August - Round 5 (Practice + 2 races) - Derbe National (Donington Park - UK) Saturday 31 August - Round 6 (Practice + 2 races) - Milan (Monza - Italy) Saturday 7 September - Mid Season Break (no races) Saturday 14 September - Round 7 (Practice + 2 races) - Emirates Raceway National (Dubai Autodrome) Saturday 21 September - Round 8 (Practice + 2 races) - Anhalt GP (Oschersleben - Germany) Saturday 28 September - Round 9 (Practice + 2 races) - Florence GP (Mugello - Italy) Saturday 5 October - Round 10 (Practice + 2 races) - Belgian Forest (Spa Francorchamps - Belgium) Saturday 12 October - Round 11 (Practice + 2 races) - Loire National (France) Saturday 19 October - Round 12 (Practice + 2 races) - Northampton (Silverstone - UK) This feels a little long - let me know what you think - we could turn it into 2 seasons. If we do it as one season, I'll increase the amount of events you can skip from 4 to 6 (3 nights). For those who don't skip any, their 6 worst races (as far as points go) will be subtracted. If you're confused and worried... don't be, I've done this before in a GT5 league and it all works out. If for any reason you get a penalty in a race and lose points because of it, that race won't be counted as part of your worst 6. Teams To add another interesting element, we plan to have a team championship as well as drivers championship. All this means is that you pair up with a buddy and race the same colour SLS. On the track there will be someone that you especially don't want to slow down/crash into, and if you're not placing too well in the championship you can at least still work towards the possibility of a team win. Due to the possibility of odd numbers or absent drivers we won't take this too seriously, it'll be somewhat experimental. Rules 1. Track Limits You must always keep at least two wheels on the track. This means inside the line/curb. If you cut slightly, just back off the accelerator for a bit to make sure there's no time advantage. If you miss a chicane and cu it, you'll need to slow down enough to make sure you don't get any advantage (assuming the game hasn't penalised you). Replays of each race will be saved and checked, any found to be wilfully gaining an unfair advantage may incur a time penalty. 2. Contact Bump-passing or dive-bombing (pushing someone wide in a corner to overtake) is not permitted, if you accidentally do this, let them back past and try again. If you cause someone to spin out or crash or push them off the track, you will be required to slow down safely (watch for other players) and let them back past you. Players not doing this will be penalised. 3. Safe Rejoining If you go understeer off the track or have spun off and need to rejoin, check for other players approaching at speed. It is likely that they will use all the track following a corner and would crash into you if you rejoined without looking. The faster car on the track will have right of way, so keep driving on the side of the track until you are far enough away from the previous corner for players to be able to move over and pass you safely. Ensure you have controls mapped to look left/right/behind. IMPORTANT NOTES: Qualifying: Don't all race off at the same time if you don't want to be held up, one person will take off every 5 seconds, in whichever order they are placed on the grid. Races: As per other leagues, do not go racing as soon as the lights go out. Lap one of the race will be a formation lap with a 100kph speed limit. As soon as possible, get yourself into the correct position (announced in lobby). Then once you reach Sector 3 (T2 on map), get into formation*. The leader can choose when to begin accelerating from when they reach the last grid lines to the start/finish line. As soon as they accelerate the race is on, no backing out of it. *Side by side formation (2 rows), the leader should know which side of the track has the inside line for Turn one and take that position early in the formation lap. There is to be no swerving or stop/starting to warm up tyres in Sector 3 of the formation lap. Large incidents: Hopefully we're all careful and avoid these but in case they happen, and a lot of drivers are affected, I may type 'sc' (safety car), in which case all drivers should slow down to 100kph, maintain position, and go back into formation (SINGLE FILE for safety car restarts). It may be helpful for the lead car to acknowledge the 'sc' call by swerving to warm up tyres, as some may not notice the chat text, but will recognise the swerving. I will endeavour to wait until the lead drivers are on a straight before typing this - although there is some chat lag I've noticed. --- Please post below to register. Let us know if you'd prefer to enforce default setups or allow custom. Tires must be the default option. Make sure you're in the Steam group I created for this league:
  19. There's a discussion going on with Andy Tudor about box art. Below is a selection of existing racing games along with some community- (and Andy)-submitted box art concepts. http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x152/aleistad/Private/all_boxes_zps8bedc26e.jpg Which ones do you like? There was one I liked a lot but in that grid it doesn't stand out nearly enough. If you want to make your own go ahead, I can post it at WMD for you (will link back here for credit) if you don't have access. WMD Forum!
  20. Hey all :) Welcome to my pCars' dedicated screenshot thread :D So let's begin...
  21. A place for me to Collect all of my Project Cars photo's. Lets start off with a whole new set..
  22. Have met a couple of you now online for a short race or two but it would be good to organize a day and time that suits a few people and all get out onto track for a few races in various tracks and cars. I would suggest 5 lap races on normal length circuits and 8 on short circuits. We can all discuss what cars and tracks we want to use without trying to get many duplicates :) Discuss
