  1. Assetto Corsa Track Updates Kunos Simulazioni began the development of Assetto Corsa back in 2011 and since then they have learned a lot more about how to go about creating assets, modelling and gathering accurate track data via laser-scanning, as well as increasing their staff numbers and financials. And so, some of the older tracks are showing their age compared to their newer counterparts due to missing out on the new found knowledge and methods that are now being used. However in a gesture that you would not usually expect to see, after all it would be easy to leave them as is and commit to making everything from now on to the current standard, Kunos are going to update and improve these older environments. In fact, they have already started optimising circuits including "Vallelunga, Nurburgring GP, Mugello, Magione, Imola, Silverstone, Monza, Spa Francorchamps, as well as the Nordschleife". The upgraded versions of which you can check out some comparisons in the gallery below, will come for free as part of the 1.5 update, currently under development. With the forthcoming console release you could say they had to do this anyway but we like to believe this is the kind of team Kunos are; always wanting to better themselves and bring their new knowledge and use it to benefit not only what is to come, but also the what is already available. 2. No News Is Good News? Hello Friends! Let us get straight to the meat of the situation today, there is still no news at all about the new NASCAR game that's “supposedly” in development by the new developers Dusenberry Martin Racing (Dmi). This will be the first game that Dmi will be making in the franchise and is looking to be a welcome change as previous developers Eutechnyx's games were riddled with bugs, making the series unplayable for many. What is Dmi? Well to put it plainly, their CEO's Tom Dusenberry and Ed Martin are both responsible for running previous iterations of the NASCAR games. Dusenberry previously headed up the NASCAR Heat games, a high point in the franchises history; Martin himself was a previous executive at Papyrus (the original NASCAR game developers), Atari and EA Sports (of whom held the NASCAR license from 1996 until 2009). So why no news? Why are we left in the cold? The only answer we've been given is that Dmi has been hard at work fixing all of the mistakes and bugs in NASCAR '15 which was originally done by Eutechnyx. They have confirmed that NASCAR '16 will be coming out in 2016 for the Playstation 4, Xbox One and for PC and that is all the news we've gotten. They've also stated that the game would be far more simulation than the previous entries into the franchise – notably those made by Eutechnyx, which had an extremely arcade handling system. We are still early into the year, so here is hoping we get some news soon – those of us who are NASCAR fans have been waiting for a true experience for a very, very long time. 3. Assetto Corsa: Brands Hatch One of the more famous racing circuits of the UK, Brands Hatch (Brands), is coming to Assetto Corsa in the fast-approaching Dream Pack 3. Brands, according to Kunos Simulazioni, has taken 6 months to produce from thousands of reference photos and Laserscan data and will be the fourth track to be released this year for the title, following on from Nurburgring, Zandvoort and Barcelona. Ever continuing to bring the goods to its players in the way of popular circuits being added to the ever-growing official track list available to the game. A favourite among motorsport fans, Brands hosts all manner of racing series such as the BTCC, DTM and even the British Superbike Championship and with corners such as Paddock Hill Bend, Druids, Dingle Dell and Clearways, there are plenty of opportunities to pass, but if you're not careful these can also make you look a fool and have you crawling through the gravel traps. More about Dream Pack 3 is due to come in the coming weeks and days, namely the cars and like you, we are hoping for some treats! Dream Pack 3 is due for release on December 15th, 2015 via Steam. 4. Let's See If I Remember How to do This Blog Thang Did you know that we haven't published an article full of Project CARS screenshots since July 2013? Never mind that we haven't published ANY articles in 10 months. But we love righting wrongs so much that we occasionally have to create those wrongs ourselves- that's just our style. And with only 30 days remaining before launch (hopefully), now seems like a great time to share some of the latest screenshots posted by the WMD community. Media [gallery link=file" size="gallery-thumbnail" columns="5" itemtag="div" icontag="span" ids="2759,2760,2761,2762,2763,2764,2765,2766,2767,2768,2769,2770,2771,2772,2773,2774,2775,2776,2777,2778,2779,2780,2781,2782,2783,2784,2785,2786,2787,2788,2789,2790,2791,2792,2793,2794,2795,2796,2797,2798,2799,2800,2801,2802,2803,2804,2805,2806,2807,2808,2809] Project CARS is scheduled for release in May 2015 on Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Release dates for Wii U and Steam OS will be announced later.
  5. The Ultimate Driver Journey WMD member Halcyon is renowned for his video trailers, so much so that SMS have hired him as a member of staff to create further video productions. Combined with Dr Stephen Baysted's rendition of Lux Aeterna, this latest video gains 'official' status. The trailer also confirms a release date scheduled for November 2014. When it comes to next-gen visuals, world class physics, racing authenticity, career freedom, and variety of content, Project CARS remains the most anticipated and premier choice for race fans. Jump into the seat of a kart and forge a career with the aim of one day winning a prestigious 24hr race in a LM Prototype car, battle bumper-to-bumper for a third consecutive championship in the world of Touring, or simply take an exotic supercar out for a beautiful drive along the coast. Whatever your journey, Project CARS is your destination... MEDIA:
  6. Get Ready to Show Off Your Awesome Driving Skills The next update of Assetto Corsa Early Access will include the multiplayer mode and was previously scheduled for tomorrow’s release; our work in the last two months has been strongly focused to complete and deliver this feature properly. We have also made investments to set several free public servers for our users and a proper lobby for servers created by, users, leagues, sim racing websites and so on. However, due to local 25th April celebrations, we might have some issues to get the best possible support from our Italian based server provider, right on launch day. Multiplayer is one of the most awaited features for a lot of sim racing enthusiasts, but in order to properly test in public the multiplayer mode, we need to get the best technical support possible; for this reason, and also in order to improve multiplayer functionality and to develop some additional features, tomorrow’s release has been shifted to Friday 2nd, May. This delay will allow us to release the multiplayer on a working day, getting fast and proper support by our provider, if needed. We are pretty sure you understand that we are working at our best to provide the best gaming experience we can. Thank you for your kind support and attention.
  7. What a sixpack! Slightly Mad Studios' Project CARS just keeps growing as Audi has just been announced to become the latest brand to join the community-assisted simulator! As many as six Audis are joining the game, including the latest rendition of their supercar: the 2013 R8 V10 Plus as well as its big brother, the 2013 R8 LMS Ultra GT3, which will challenge the recently announced Bentley amongst other GT3 racers. The 1989 90 IMSA GTO is a beast that could prove to be tough but rewarding to control and it will surely find its own fans. Le Mans heritage is not forgotten as included are both the 2002 R8 LMP900 and the 2011 R18 TDI LMP1, both of which have shown their domination at the track. Last but not least is my personal favourite, the small 2012 A1 Quattro - a 256hp version of Audi's tiny A1 which I'm really eager to test! All of these cars will surely be great fun to drive and they'll be hitting the tracks in Fall 2014 when Project CARS is released for the PS4, Xbox One, SteamOS, Wii U and of course PC. 8. Take a Third Off The Assetto Corsa Early Access Beta is currently on a Weekend Deal at a discount of 33% off the normal price and will be so until March 10th, so if you are still stupid enough not to have picked it up then for the love of bacon go and buy it NOW!! You will not be disappointed and remember there are constant updates coming for the title before it reaches it's gold standard version 1.0 later this year. Then with the Dream Pack DLC to come shortly after the future is only ever going to get better for AC and you should indeed be a part of that if you love your sim-racing. 9. Stay Safe Out There Many an online race ends at turn 1 for most people. Anything from an overzealous racer trying to get their nose into the corner first from last place, to a small lapse in concentration that inadvertently catches others resulting in carnage. So knowing how to drive and race around other people is a big part of actually finishing a race, which as many a real-life racer will tell you... to finish first you first have to finish! Knowing how to drive a car in games can seem rather easy considering how many games are out there that feature racing. Believe it or not, having AI opponents in games is a bonus in knowing how to race properly as they are usually dumb, meaning you have to be aware of what they are doing and might do when you attempt to pass, many online games on the other hand require a bit of knowledge on how to place a car on a track, where to brake and whether going wide or cutting in close is the best way to get the most out of a passing manoeuvre on a capable human opponent. Nowhere is this more important than in many racing simulators, where usually one mistake means an end for your and maybe others' race. If you're having trouble with staying on a track, there are many guides out there to help with driving, consistency and eventually racecraft. None are better than what iRacing.com has online to help new drivers. While mainly tailored to iRacing, it will be a useful guide to anyone who wants to have a competetive fun and a clean race online in any game. Practice Makes Perfect. Have fun racing!
  10. Lucky v0.7 The number 7 is a big favourite for being the lucky number of many people, and with this latest update for the Early Access Beta of Assetto Corsa bearing it you could see why, as it brings with it the Nürburgring Grand Prix circuit as well as a F1 style open-wheel racecar in the form of the Lotus Exos T125. Available now owners of the title can update their version and enjoy these two brand new items as well all that comes with the fixes and updates below. Assetto Corsa v0.7 Changelog New car Lotus Exos 125 New upgrade Lotus Exos 125 S1 New track Nurburgring GP Less noisy bodywork sound for GT cars Fixed hotlap penalties always on Friends Leaderboard :: filters lap for hotlap mode Some performance improvements Replay size reduced by 25% Gui now restoring hidden apps on exit Fixed Gui issues on apps Fixed smoke issues on replay Tuned low-level settings for smoke Fixed time attack start Some texture update for Autodromo di Monza Anticipated pit limiter when entering pitlane for Silverstone and Silverstone International race circuits "New" badge in UI cars thumbnails New "special tags" filtering. 11. Ring the Lotus Another update for Assetto Corsa is due this Friday and on their official Facebook they have posted goodies such as a blurred out pic of the Michael-Schumacher-S (keep fighting Michael!) from the Nurburgring Grand Prix circuit and updated their cover to an in-game shot of the Lotus Exos T125, in the past these actions have proven to show what is to come to the title so these latest postings have obviously created much excitement for what may be to come on Friday. We've known that the Nurburgring-Nordschleife is coming later this year via the fan vote but this is the first real indication that the GP circuit would be coming much quicker and it could be dropping on us in the next few days! Even better is it adds to the roster and inventory of the game as it builds its way up to it's final v1.0 release. Accessible F1 The Lotus Exos T125 is essentially an F1 car that those with the ability and cash can purchase, the original intent of the project was to create as close to possible an F1 car, but make it that bit easier to drive and a touch more comfortable due to it's bigger cockpit than your typical F1 car. Powered by a Cosworth 3.8 liter V8 that produces a staggering 640bhp and weighing only 590kg due to a bespoke carbon composite with Nomex and aluminium core chassis with carbon composite panels means a power-to-weight ratio of more than 1000bhp per tonne!! That means this fecker is FAST! The signs are good that these are more than likely coming in the next update so if you want to be in on it then click the link below and get the game now! Those of you already enjoying the title will be able to update the game through the normal means when the update is released. Find out more about the Lotus Exos T125 on the official website. Assetto Corsa: Early Access is available on Steam. Thanks - Assetto Corsa Facebook
  12. I Got the Power! Kunos Simulazioni have released the latest update for Assetto Corsa with v0.6.5, edging us ever closer to the final version. This update brings a new car in the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 and two upgrade packages with the Lotus Evora S Stage 2 and the BMW 1M Stage 3 to players. The full rundown can be seen in the Press Release below. Assetto Corsa Early Access v.0.6.5 has been released today. This version enables the first test of engine damage as well as lot’s of other features and new contents! Although still under development and balancing, gamers can experience engine damages if they downshift too aggressively and over rev the engine, or if they keep the turbo pressure too high on cars that permit turbo boost adjustments ingame (have a go at the BMW Z4 Drift and the new BMW 1M Stage 3 and experiment with keys 1-0 while driving..). This version also includes the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 race car: this is the first McLaren car built for FIA GT series racing since the McLaren F1 GTR finished production in 1997. The 12C GT3 is based on the new MP4-12C high-performance sports car and a team of engineers, designers and test drivers with vast experience in Formula 1 and GT racing has been assembled to undertake the process of adapting the carbon chassis-based 12C to racing specification. Kunos Simulazioni development team had a great opportunity to recreate in great detail this beautiful race car, and we are very excited to see what simracers think about it and what performances they will be able to achieve against other GT3 cars in the Assetto Corsa lineup. We also included two upgrades for existing cars. The very capable BMW 1M Stage 3, with extra power, adjustable turbo boost, shorter gearbox and much improved suspension, and the amazingly balanced Lotus Evora Stage 2 with a new compressor pulley for a bit of additional engine power and a much more track focused suspension. We have a new friends leaderboard app. Now, gamers can directly compete against their friends on Steam steam and reset your scores ingame, everytime you like. This app is not intended to go against the amazing leaderboards created by 3rd party modders, as it doesn’t checks for cheats or assists, but it is a leaderboard for you and for your friends you trust. It gives you the opportunity to compete against each other and “reset the scores” when you want to start again. It will keep laptimes as well as scores from drift and time attack modes, all synchronised with Steam leaderboard system. The cars McLaren MP4-12C GT3 Lotus Evora S Stage 2 BMW 1M Stage 3 Changelog Early Access 0.6.5 Oculus Rift improvements High fov on single screen (>80 degrees) rendering fix Car physics & apps fixes Balanced opponents volume Some ranking fixes fixed closing AC while a replay was playing after a race Replay performance improvements Fixed real time position on restart Best lap is kept when restarting session Fixed look back on replay Engine smoke when damaged Engine damage (not balanced yet) McLaren MP4-12C GT3 Upgrade BMW 1M Stage 3 Upgrade Lotus Evora Stage 2 Ferrari 599XX Aero center of pressure adjusted Ferrari 599XX improved cockpit view and adjusted bonnet cam Small aero improvements on BMW Z4 GT3, M3 GT2 and P4/5 Competizione New overboost function BMW Z4 Drift (keys 1-0 for 10% to 100% turbo boost. 80% default) Engine damage when turbo overboost is over 80% on cars that support it Engine damage from overreving the enging (i.e. downshifts) Steam friends leaderboard & Friends Leaderboard app for hotlap, drift & time attack Update: 0.6.6 also released Fixed old replays engine sound Launcher :: fixed small issues Audio : fixed low volume in a file Assetto Corsa: McLaren MP4-12C GT3 Gallery [gallery size=gallery-thumbnail" itemtag="div" icontag="span" link="file" columns="5]
  13. It's good to BTCC a sim-racer Image Space Incorporated (ISI) have released their latest add-on of the Honda Civic Touring Car for their incredibly popular rFactor 2 racing-sim. Fans of the infamous British Touring Car Championship - or BTCC as it's more widely known amongst its followers - will recognise some of the liveries being sported on the cars. Starting with the Honda Yuasa Racing Team we have Matt Neal and Gordon 'Flash' Shedden's NGTC (Next Generation Touring Car) Civics, both of whom are BTCC Champions with Shedden winning most recently with his first title in 2012 and the veteran racer Neal having won the series three times in 2005, 2006 and 2011! And that's not where the the mentions of 'Honda' and 'winning' end either, as along with the 'Works' team, players will also be available to race around in the current BTCC Driver's Champion 'Pirtek' Civic driven by Andrew Jordan. Being a Civic it's obviously a Front-Wheel Drive car but don't let that put you off as these cars are built for handling and if you watch any racing then you will know how much a good setup matters in allowing the driver to stick to the racing line and hug those apexes. Included in the download is a touching tribute from Tim Wheatley at ISI for his grandfather, with two AI cars showing as being sponsored by the 'RAF Benevolent Fund'. In memory of my grandfather, Kenneth Minard, our A.I. opponents include two cars ‘sponsored’ by the RAF Benevolent Fund. Both Honda and the RAFBF kindly agreed to allow this, to raise awareness and to allow me to connect this British touring car with something ‘back home’. – Tim Wheatley, ISI The car and more info can be found at http://rfactor.net/web/rf2/rf2dl/honda-civic-ngtc-touring-car/ Thanks rfactor.net [gallery size=gallery-thumbnail" itemtag="div" icontag="span" link="file" columns="4]
  14. The Ferrari TheFerrari If there's one thing a racing game can do to grab your attention it is show a sleek hot Italian rear end... and I was going to use this as an excuse to post an image of exactly that, but unfortunately when Kunos Simulazioni do it to show what is coming to their Assetto Corsa racing-sim, they do so with a Ferrari. So I guess this rear-end will have to do, not that many of you will complain of course. The latest premium addition to the Modena stable of Prancing Horse's will be coming as a free content update to version 1.0 which is due to hit some time this year.

  17. Home is Where the Racing is. The Italian racing circuit "Pierro Taruffi" of Vallenlunga has been revealed and will be included in KUNOS Simulazioni's racing-sim Assetto Corsa due out later this year. I know what you are thinking as I was thinking the same thing, Where? Well there's a good reason for this not well known circuit being in many games but coming to this one and that is that it is the home of KUNOS Simulazioni! Having a research&development studio in a racing track homologated for international races and Formula 1 tests, represents an excellent opportunity by a logistic and commercial point of view. It has allowed the development team of Assetto Corsa to improve its modeling techniques of 3D environments, in order to optimize the data collection on those tracks where timeline and weather conditions are not ideal. Along with this track announcement is a gallery where we also get a good look at the McLaren MP4-12C and it's active-aero in operation at certain points around the circuit. Thanks. Assetto Corsa Dev-blog In screen #15 there is a large ad for the Lamborghini Aventador, is this a hint to future content or just attention to detail of the circuit? Hmmm... 20. XXTREMELY FAST KUNOS Simulazioni is excited to announce yet another Ferrari that's coming to their Assetto Corsa game later this year. This time it's the Ferrari 599XX EVO, the super hardcore track toy for the rich racing enthusiast. As the car is not road-legal, owners can only use it on the track and for the million or two that they have put down for it they get the exclusive pleasure of having Ferrari transport the car to the track and also supply a group of their own engineers and a pit-crew to monitor and set-up the car to the owners liking or for the track itself. If you are not mega-rich then don't worry as Assetto Corsa will give you the opportunity to experience this outrageous car for yourself later this year. This ‘car’ is simply brutal, “nasty”. Vastly different in comparison to other road cars modified to be used in competitions, the 599XX Evo is much more like a prototype. When you see it in action, is difficult to imagine that it comes from a road-legal base. It looks, it drives, it sounds differently to any other car. And it’s an exclusive car, that just few lucky people in the world can drive on track. It’s the same on the virtual side: few racing games include the 599XX Evo, therefore we believe that gamers and car enthusiasts will appreciate our effort to bring this awesome car in Assetto Corsa. 21. Give me a Hell!, Give me a Yeah! First off I will introduce myself since I am a new writer for the site, although I am in no way new to Turboduck. I have been a member for over 3 years now so some of you may know me, for those who dont my name is TDUFREAK500 but you can just call me Josh. I am looking forward to writing for the site and I hope you will enjoy reading my posts. I have been working hard on this for the last 3 or 4 months and I am really stoked that it is finally finished. This is the 3rd Trailer that I have created so far and I don't plan on stopping here, I get happier and happier with each one I create! I hope you guys all enjoy watching it and feel free to leave a comment about it :) Without further ado here we go and a vimeo version [vimeo 66486601 w=640] Talk about and share your pics and videos with us in our forum!
  22. Outrun the Pack! Kunos Simulazioni have confirmed that the Ferrari 458 GT2 will be coming to their eagerly-anticipated simulation-racer Assetto Corsa on it's release which is due sometime later this year. They have also released some rather nice screenshots of the car from the game for us to gawp at and drool over. [gallery size=gallery-thumbnail" itemtag="div" icontag="span" link="file" columns="5]
  23. Ring Record Holders Two new cars have joined the Simbin free-to-play racer RaceRoom Racing Experience today, the Pagani Zonda R and the Radical SR9 are now available to players to test drive and buy for use in their game. The Radical can be used in a free track test around Hockenheimring for 24 hours from the 8th-9th May starting from 1800 (6PM) CEST with the Pagani having its free track test from the 9th-10th May on the newly announced Monza circuit. Find out more about R3E at the RaceRoom website. [gallery size=gallery-thumbnail" itemtag="div" icontag="span" link="file] Thanks. Simbin Insider
  24. Mmmonza! Simbin have announced that the infamous Monza racing circuit will be coming to RaceRoom Racing Experience in the very near future and will be available in two layouts. The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is the home of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix and is one of the fastest circuits in the world where drivers will find themselves running at full throttle for 80% of the lap due to its long straights and sweeping turns, and yet at the same time is extremely testing on brakes with low-speed chicanes where braking a few metres early or late could easily cost you time or even the race. Monza is always a circuit people love to see in their racing games so the fact it's coming to R3E is no real surprise but it is most certainly welcome that is for sure. Find out more about RaceRoom Racing Experience from Simbin [gallery size=gallery-thumbnail" itemtag="div" icontag="span" link="file" ids="1308,1307,1309] Thanks. Simbin Insider
  25. Oh Lord, won't you license me a Mercedes-Benz Slighty Mad Studios (SMS) have recently announced on their WMDPortal website that they have licensed some of the very best that Mercedes-Benz has to offer both now and from the past. As any car fanatic will know, Mercedes-Benz has a very popular history in not only racing but also with their road cars and as you would expect the team at SMS will be bringing the cream of the crop to Project CARS (pCARS). With legends such as the 300SL W194, the much loved Sauber C9 and - my personal favourite - the 190E 2.5-16 Evolution 2 DTM and more there is going to be something for every type of motorsport (ok except for F1) fan from Le Mans to Touring Cars. That's not all of them of course and it won't just be racers only as two road cars are also going to be included in the SLS AMG and the A45 AMG. List Of Included Cars 1952 300 SL W194 1971 300SEL 6.8 AMG ‘Rote Sau’ 1989 Sauber C9 1990 190E 2.5-16 Evolution 2 DTM 1998 CLK-LM 2012 SLS AMG GT3 2012 C-Class Coupe DTM 2013 A45 AMG 2010 SLS AMG Coupé Thanks.
