2009 F1 Cars

OK thought I'd start a thread for the new cars as they're going to be radically different to last seasons

So first out of the box today is ...

The Ferrari F60

Notice the big low front wing, high narrow rear wing, slick tyres and lack of barge boards or wings on the side pods ... it's a very clean shape ... I guess we'll get used to the look at some point

Was reading about this on the F1 site eailer. There was also a thing in Top Gear mag about it.

Dosn't look like he can see over the top.

Looks alright, except for the rear wing which I really hate. Too narrow and too tall, and the boards at the side have way too much surface area. Other than that, its fine aesthetically

some previous F1 cars have had an 'intake' in the nose ... I think it's to cool the driver ... could be wrong tho

it looks a lot like I'd thought it would ... sort of like a FW14B but with a modern shape main body

I'll post pics of the rest of them as and when they get launched

If im honest i dont really like these new cars i much prefer the 2008 cars to this.

But i will still watch f1 as i dont think the cars will affect the racing to much its the new rules and regulations that they change that will affect it.

Its a Ferrari F1 car so aside form pricing each individual component its fair to say its 'priceless'. You have to remember there'll be alot of secret tech stuff in there that Ferrari don't want anyone getting their grubby mits on (Alonso).

I really like the look of this car though... is quite pretty apart form those stupid wings just infront of the side pods.

And back to real slicks too! YAY.

That's something you'll never find out as it's kind of immaterial as it's not as if you can buy one from Ferrari ... well not until it's quite a few years old and then Ferrari may auction it but then it wouldn't be the cost to produce.

As to how you could cost it ... well it would be VERY expensive, especially if you start including development costs, the manufacturing would be expensive as the majority of it would either be built on very expensive machines or by some bloke who is very good at his job and so costs a bit in hourly rate

so you could say it's priceless as it's impossible to place a price on it

New McLaren out now too. Looks nice, but real car will be completely different (as with Ferrrari, Toyota).

Those stupid wings...:mad: I read in TG yesterday, they had 2008 Awards (magazine version of TG) and the last year McLaren won the racing car of the year. And it was a work of art with all those curves and things, and now...

I acutally prefer the old school look koenig, reminds me of when I used to watch Mansell in his red 5 (below), only thing is the newer cars have a wider front wing (yes i know there ar other major differences)
