Going to build my own pc :D

Since I'm a bit bored at the moment I thought I would tell you guys about my new project!

A couple of days ago while me and Spongie kidnapped my dads old desktop and upgraded it a little (http://i1013.photobucket.com/albums/af253/jazzi_bee/_MG_7836.jpg) I had the idea of building my own gaming pc. Hah. Well, I know a little about the actual components of a computer, so I've reeled the boyfriend into helping me too ;)

After a good look through http://www.ebuyer.com we've decided on this :D

Antec 902 Case - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/155939

Asus P5Q Motherboard - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145748

Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 Processor - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131823

Powercool 850W PCU - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/151296

3x Seagate ST3500418AS 500GB SATA HDD's - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/158860

3x Kingston 2GB RAM - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148853

PALIT GTX260 Graphics card - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/179733

2x LG GH22NS50 DVD±RW - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/169683

LG CH08LS10 Blu-Ray Reader - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/177383

Still haven't found a monitor/tv screen to connect it to, but we're hoping for a 32"-42" LG LH3000

It won't be getting built till summer next year, or whenever I get the money to do it, so components might be upgraded by then. But I'll keep it posted anyway.

:D :excited:

An 850W PSU seems a bit excessive for the components you have. I know people who are running more components on less power.

I'd also try to get a more trusted brand of PSU. It'll cost more buying it than budget PSUs but when the budget PSU goes bang you'll be spending alot more to fix your computer. I wouldn't take the risk of budgeting the PSU.

That sounds like an awesome project.. but erm.. that's a lot of money. Do you know what the total price will be? XD

For the main tower altogether I'm looking at about £900 :o Tis why i'm waiting a while till i get save up extra so its not going to sop me doing anything else

I hope you can handle that better then tomato soup.

Fingers crossed ;)

All seems abit to much... do you really need 3 drives? and 3 harddrives?

It looks to be set up as a media pc rather than gaming... so would only be very good at editing ect.

Stupidly expensive too.

I've decided not to add the blu-ray reader  To be honest, i'm just looking for something that can do what i need it to do. I need something with good graphics aswell as something that can handle lots of programs being open. The multi-purpose computer i guess lol.

I know quite alot of people that have a Powercool PSU and have had absolutely no problem with it, and Spongie recommended them so I'm going on his word  ;)

LOL!

Is it corsair 1000w? Thinking about getting a 1000w, it's all for the led's lol.

Absolutely no point in wasting your money on a 1000w Corsair. Very expensive and thats the kind of thing you would need to power 3 GTX295's in SLI and an I7 965 Extreme, which I highly doubt you have.

Just buy some Led's and stick them on there, would be much cheaper.

3 GTX295s? Not possible. :p

And LEDs don't use much power unless you have more LEDs than computer.
