TDU2 Poker/Casino Q&A with Project Lead

As you know here at TDUC we have a great relationship with Atari and Eden and with this we can sneak people under desks and hide in their cupboards without being seen or even asked to leave. Well maybe not but we do get to ask them things and even better we get answered back ....sometimes! It's a sweet life I know. :susp:

 

Anyway I'd been seeing a few people asking some questions and with my own foray into TDU2 Poker I had spotted some things also and wanted to ask about them, so I did and they got answered by none other than Yannick Geffroy who is the Project lead of TDU2 Casino. So if anyone can Yan(nick) can! :coolspot:

TDUC: The Leaderboards for the Poker Tournament show gold, Silver and Bronze Cups, however it appears that only a 1st place on Level 4 is counted and 2nd and 3rd is ignored. Although it has been said that the cups actually reflect your wins in Levels 2-4 ie; Gold = Level 4 win Silver = Level 3 win and Bronze = Level 2 win. Is this accurate?

 

YG: Here are the rules of the VIP Poker Tournament:

 

1st place at Level1 = Nothing

1st place at Level2 = Bronze

1st place at Level3 = Silver

1st place at Level4 = Gold

 

TDUC: The Casino Ranking Leaderboards show the amount of Credits you have won in total, however they appear to count all or most of your chips in the Poker Tournament. For example if you win Level 4 you end with about 20 million credits but leave with the 1 million prize. If you then look at the Casino Rankings though you will see you have gained another 10,000,000+ credits. Why don't I have the $300,000,000 that the Casino shows I should? :)

 

YG: It’s true that Leaderboards show the sum of all your gains.

But in the case of the VIP Tournament, it’s not exactly what you win (1,000,000 if you finish 1st at level 4 per example) because it will be unfair by comparison with a classic Sit & Go at $25,000; [The] VIP Tournament is more difficult to win so we implement this rule for any levels of the VIP Tournament:

 

1st place : 50% of the sum of all the stacks

2nd place : 30% of the sum of all the stacks

3rd place : 20% of the sum of all the stacks

 

Per example, if you win the Poker Tournament level 4, the sum of all the stacks is 2,000,000 x 10 players = 20,000,000

 

50% of 20,000,000 = 10,000,000 -> your global ranking of the Casino will be increased [by] 10,000,000.

 

TDUC: Sometimes unfortunately due to connection issues players get kicked out even when in the last 3 of the [Level 4] Tournament, and if this happens they not only lose a guaranteed CR400,000 but also their Ticket for the Tournament itself. Is this a known issue that will be fixed or is there even a way to give those players the money and save it just in case a disconnect does happen? (obviously the ticket would still be lost)

 

YG: This happens when we update the server.

 

This issue is fixed on consoles and will be present in the next patch; players should get their money/ticket back if an error occurs during a Sit & Go/Tournament.

 

Unfortunately on PC we can’t detect properly if the server crashes or if the player has disconnected the cable link voluntarily, so it has not been implemented on PC to avoid another exploit.

TDUC: It's been noticed sometimes if you join a table or check your cards at a certain point that your character actually turns the transparent black (see attachment included), that shows when an avatar is out of range to you before they fully load in their appearance. We've also had a strange instance where the view got stuck looking down at our feet again when we check our cards at the table. Have you heard of this issue at all?

 

YG: I have forwarded this issue to concerned people and they will try to reproduce it.

 

TDUC: Some hands that should be strong get beaten by weaker hands, a Straight getting beat by 2 Pair or a very small amount of the pot being given to a player with a Pair against a Straight for example. Have you been able to replicate instances of this and if so will it be fixed?

 

YG: We believe this is fixed, and the update should be present in the next patch.

 

TDUC: Sometimes the text on screen shows different to what the player actually has, ie saying a Player has a Pair when in fact they don't. We caught one instance of this as you can see via the attached image.

TDUC: There are instances that have been happening in the last 7 days where the same cards seem to be showing up. In particular we've seen cards from the Flop come straight to us and others, only last night we got a pair of Aces 3 times! within about 7 dealt hands. And in fact twice of those were the same 2 Aces of a Diamond and a Club.

 

The night before that the number 5 seemed to be following us in that we kept getting it in the deal and also in the Flop. Easy pairs and even 3 of a kinds were nice but felt like a joke was being played somewhat. Any change to the shuffle in the last week or so or just a funny coincidence?

 

YG: Hmm, it’s the first time I heard about this one!

 

Nothing has changed on the server side; I think it’s just a funny coincidence :)

 

TDUC: Certain players like to 'Sit Out' until a number of people are out and then join back in with the money they went out with due to the game never seemingly taking any of the chips during blinds and such. In a way it's a sort of advantage as players can sit out until the medium sized blinds when about 5 or 6 remain and still have your money ready to play with. Can you please add that the game takes their money when they are sat out or even automatically kick them out if they remain in this way for a period of time like 3-5mins or something?

 

YG: That’s already the case; it’s the same rules like in real Tournaments: you are allowed to have a break but your blinds/antes will be taken even if you are not present at the table.

 

Observe carefully the stack of sit out players and you will see that it decreases when they are small/big blinds. [Ed - We will!]

 

TDUC: The sound going away during Poker is a well talked about and known issue so hopefully a fix is coming for that as that music is actually somewhat catchy! :)

 

YG: We are investigating [this issue].

 

TDUC: Any chance of Blackjack coming to the Casino? ;)

 

YG: It’s not planned for the moment [Ed - Nuts!]

Simple resolution:

When was this list actually submitted? Last time I played Poker (over a week ago) there were people sitting out and they were eventually busted out through blinds etc.

 

No mention on if roulette will like, ever work?

As for the Sit Out, yeah I saw last night the blinds and antes being taken from someone sitting out. In the Tournaments not many people sit out so perhaps the last time I saw someone doing it was a while ago hence the question was asked. The list was actually sent just the weekend that's passed.

Yes, I can confirm. Roulette is scheduled to be enabled on consoles when the next patch (Exploration Pack, Free DLC 1) goes live.

Last time I checked there were thousands of "clients" as you call them, and only one Destra :)

For the type of support you're thinking of, clients pay a heck of a lot more money as well ;)
