Dude... I am reading some reviews and in one test the PSU burnt out. Dear God.

 

And FYI, it is Partis, not Part;s althought it is like that on the unit. :lol: I am taking it back to the shop on Friday.

Yea, cheap PSUs can be dangerous if they try to output anywhere near their max rated output. I remember reading an article where a few cheap PSUs were tested and one set on fire when taken to 50% of it's rated capacity...

 

It's not a snobby thing to only go for decent PSUs. It's for safety of the other components in the PC and also so you're don't set your house on fire.

We're not saying you have to buy the Rolls Royce of PSU's - just avoid the Proton's out there. :)

It's not as easy as "Corsair is good". You have to look at what the OEM is for the particular model you're looking at, each PSU brand uses several different ones. Some are better, some are worse.

I still have not bought anything new nor brought the new PSU back to the shop, but my dad disassembled the old unit, perfored some magic tricks and voila, it's running like new...

 

... well, umm, not so much.

 

I'll check the cables next time when I have time - hope it's the cables only. :lol:

The problem was indeed in the cables - forgot to plug in the PSU - HDD connector. It took me exactly one month to get the machine running again. :fp:

 

Let's hope the PSU will survive at least a few weeks.
