We are looking for writers for the site - games, cars, motorsport and other stuff

[headline]Contribute to the Site[/headline]

We've done this twice now, and it works for a short while but then it fizzles out and as this will be the third time we're hoping it will be third time lucky! :p

First of all we are looking for volunteers who would like to contribute to writing for the main site. This isn't a paid gig, but as has happened in the past it could open up some opportunities in helping you with your chosen subject. It also provides experience to those of you who may like to venture into this area more or are actively pursuing going into it. Yes it's the whole work for nothing that is rife these days but as a hobbyist site it's all we can offer unfortunately.

We're not looking for you to write stuff akin to the big names, that would be stupid and unfair. All we're looking for is a few people who are actively interested in certain games and subjects who would want to write about the news, teases and rumours that come out for them. There is also the cars and motorsport angle too that we would like to see someone take on-board. Again it's not an autoblog.com type scenario we're looking for these persons to do, just simple posts about those instances that are interesting, funny or well... newsworthy.

Maybe you'd like to talk about the latest episode of Top Gear or The Grand Tour or any snippets that has come to light about it or what that trio have been up to. Basically anything within the general subject matter of what we like to talk about on the board is good in our opinion.

Secondly we would LOVE to get some proof-editors with us. This is for myself personally as I do enjoy writing but man do I stink at it. I can string a sentence together and make some quips, however I have a real tendency to use the same words and style and it annoys me something terrible. So being able to get 1 or 2 good with their words and grammar folk would be a real bonus if possible. :D

That's not to say I would ease off in not trying to write better and just hope it be rewritten entirely by these proof-editors. Nope not at all, it's more to learn from them and thus improve in my own failings (hopefully!), and I am sure others may be the same.

So if you would like to put your hat in for this then let us know in this thread and we can see about getting you as a writing or editing :duck:. WordPress or other CMS (Joomla/blogspot/Drupal/etc) experience would be a bonus but not essential as we have a pretty comprehensive guide and as I've found personally, trial and error is the best way to learn anyway. :cheeky:

Thanks.

I did bear you in mind... bare when I read that though.

Also I recently learned years have no apostrophes (I HATE THESE THINGS!!) so 80's would be 80s, 2000s, 90s etc.

It doesn't have to be associated press type quality. Just not jump around all over the place, making the reader want to stick a fork in-between their thumb and index finger.

No hurt intended Adam, just got very confused as I thought the first thing wasn't a joke but then Scott made it into one but was it really, well it turns out it was. Then there's the confusion over if Andy wants a proof reader or not. I know PLENTY of mistakes are made in online jounalism and that we only write about cars and games to a small audience but why should that stop us striving for excellence if the means (editors/proof readers) is there? ...and then laughing at them for letting mistakes through :smig:

Isn't that what Andrew means when he refers to gaining experience?

I am going to write 1 article for a friend, about Gran Turismo in general, since GT Sport is comming. Talking about the whole franchise and etc. I could translate it to english, give to someone who could actually fix my grammar mistakes ( That will be a hard task, must see who would be willing to fix my text)... but that would be like, one. As i do not want to take the compromise of being a constant writer.

With GT Sport coming and everything that will come with it, not being able to take the subject on would be a bit of waste in that regard. Good luck with the article though, perhaps we could use it in some sort of member opinion piece (MOP ) type posting.

I don't know. I've been away from the forums for a while, i am kind of re-learning it. Plus, i'd like to be able to take on the subject. Although, i don't feel i am prepared, or good enough, mostly because i probably won't even buy the game. Not to mention i am not sure how many free time i will have this year, which will be a complicated one for me.

I know it all sound as an excuse, and it probably is . I can translate the text, and then you guys can see what to do with it. If it's worthless, not a problem either. :D

Edit: Even because my texts will probably need a lot of grammar fixing. Which can be a double-work. And a pain...

I understood what you said. It's quite pointless to write just one article. I mean, it's not the kind of help you're seeking with this thread.

But, let's recap... So far, i haven't seen anyone offer their help to write articles on the main page. I want to help, but i don't know if i can do it the way you'd like, or the way i'd like. My friend asked me to write one, i accepted it. Translate it would be like, the minimum i can do. It's something i know i can. But you know... it's only one. So, i better let it clear now, here, than say i can help and ending up not being able to.

When i get the text done, i will send to one of the staff members then, and you guys see what is the best thing to do with it.
