I'm looking to change the Gallardo SE to the LP560, but now I'm a bit unsure. One entry is called "Gall_SE". Would changing that do anything, or is that the file name it looks for for the car?

No. If you change the SE entry in the TDU_CarPhysicsData.us in your DB_US (or your language) it will only change the car's type/modelname, not the file it looks for. (basicly, this is what you are looking for)

Just keep in mind that "Gall_LP560-4" is much longer then "Gall_SE" so you'll need to delete some unused types/modelnames and add some enters/spaces to get to the same filesize. I don;t know wheter a edited Bnk1.map works on that front. Best thing is to back up your files and try around. When it doesn't work, you'll know! :D

Good Luck!

Don't think so.

Most cars have their names in the TDU_Brands.us file.

--edit--

Just checked the TDU_CarPhysicsData.us file... I don't think other cars get "Ferrari" in steead of "Lamborghini" (for instance). Just backup your files and try. It's the best way to learn (and to find out which entry you actually need to change)! :)

So you can change the names in there without a problem? Do you use any special program to open that file? And you mean the TDU_CarPhysicsData.us out DB_US right?

A) Yes, I mean mean the TDU_CarPhysicsData.us out DB_US.

B) No, I just use notepad. Works like a charm.

C) You chancge the names but when you import TDU_CarPhysicsData.us back into DB_US you need to make sure it says that the file size difference is only 2 bytes (either + or -). Just ad enters/spaces or delete cartypes that aren't in use.

You could test it without doing that and applying the edited Bnk1.map, but I don;t knwo wheter that's going to do the trick.

JUST MAKE SURE TO BACK-UP YOUR FILES!

I always use notepad. Simple and effective. What exactly are you trying to change?

Seemed to be more entries the second time when I opened it in Wordpad and searched for SE O_O First time I opened it in Notes...

[e]WTF? I changed the entry Gall_SE to Gall_LP560-4 (and deleted characters in an unused model somewhere else), this is the result:

If I go to the DB9 which is next to it and then go back, this car says Aston Martin DB9 o_O I'm gonna use my back-up this time, I'm done :p

[e2] Actually, this is quite interesting, I got some investigation to do

So.... You changed Gall_SE to Gall_LP560-4 and got Lotus Esprit V8?!?

strange... I never had the other problem, neither did I ever have this problem.

The car is a chameleon. Lotus Esprit was first in my garage, when I went one step back it came to this, that had the name Lotus Esprit. If I went one further step to the right, came to the DB9 and then went back to this, it was named Aston Martin DB9. It also 'imported' all the mileage, performance stats, etc etc from the previous car. o_o

I decided to try it out a little, and it's even paintable!

Although when I go back to the garage, it gets the old red colour back. I also asked a person what car he saw me in, and he said green Gallardo. This car had the speedometer of the Gallardo, but no sound. I never checked interior. :(

I think the entry I edited (Gall_SE) referred to the bnk file Gall_SE, and when I changed it, TDU loaded this instead. I still have Tools LP560 rims though o_O

I just played around with the DB Editor. Nice little tool... but not for what we are doing since we have to play around with the bits and bytes.

If you check the "keep original filesize" box, and you (for instance) change RUF to PORSCHE it will be truncated to 3 characters... thus making it POR.

So if you ask me... just stick with notepad... works best for this kind of stuff.

Ah............. Okay, this is how you do it: DO NOT CHANGE (Gall_SE)

-----------------

1 Open Djeys tools

2 Go into 'File Browser'

3 Then go to 'Database' select your language for example i would use 'DB_US'

4. Extract 'Carphysicsdata'

5. Once extracted to where ever you extracted it, open it with 'Notepad'

6. 'Ctrl + F' to find and search for 'SE'

7. Change it to 'LP560-4'

8. Save

9. Import back, i suggest import 'Modify Size'

;)
