Thanks, mate!

I started automotive photography about two years ago. I had the luck that i knew someone with an Opel Speedster Turbo. So that one went first, and i actually liked it. The combination of photography, and my passion cars seemed to match perfectly.

Nowadays i'm photographer for a Dutch car testing website called: AutoGetest.nl. The cars i have to photograph for them go from a Toyota Aygo, to the Alfa 8C Competizione. I think i can say that i'm rather lucky with that unpayed 'job'.

But i'd suggest you to first try to photograph your own/dad's car, on a location of wich you think matches the car. Then you can try to make contact with owners of exotic cars. As example: You have person in your neighbourhood who has a Lamborghini.

1. Ding dong :p

2. Explain what you've been doing with automotive photography

3. Explain that you'd like to do a photoshoot with the Lambo, if possible.

4. If the owner agrees, cool. If not, no problem. It isn't the own Lamborghini in this world :).

I hope i've helped you a bit, good luck

Thanks! I think maybe photographing my parent's car wouldn't work too well. Its not very photogenic. Its a '99 Renault Kangoo...

I'll go and talk to a mate of mine (I was round his house on Saturday) who (at the age of 17 - sat was his birthday) has 3 cars of his own:

He was first given a Mini Cooper for his 13th which he refurbed and made ready for racing, he also has a mint MG Midget 1500 and has just started a project on a 1939 Ford 10 with a '60s custom body on it - of which there are only 4 in the world. He is lucky, but he does not act spoiled at all. He is actually very similar to James May :p

But yeah, I should be able to get photoshoots of all of them, then maybe I could ask another friend who's dad has a DB9...

I live in a fairly rich area, but I am just thinking that it is maybe too rich - it is a VERY conservative popular area too. That they won't want to let a 17 year old anywhere near their cars. I also think the opinion in Europe (especially the Netherlands) is much more relaxed, so you will get more chances than in the very lacking of community Britain.

But thanks for the advice!
