  1. Glad to hear this. Knew he wouldn't fit in Top Gear and it's bothersome to think that someone at the BBC thought he was the perfect one to carry on the show at a pivotal point where the show had to do well and those fronting, be likeable. I'm not on the whole Matt fanbus either, he's got something but it needs worked on more before he develops his persona for the show imo. Harris has been stepping it up since his first appearance on Extra Gear for me. He wasn't looking well suited to being in front of the camera in those early moments but as time has gone on it's been amazing to see him properly grow in confidence in his presenting ability. Could do without Eddie Jordan and I am not really sure how Sabine can properly fit in. They need to rethink the guest interview and maybe the celebrity lap. I like the rallycross aspect but with the weather we get in the UK it's evident that the course will get to be real nuisance and may require two lapboards to keep track of the differing conditions they experienced on the day. I wonder if bringing in the u-turn and a jump in the typical lap could work?
  2. Chris Evans Quits Ever since it was even rumoured - from the darkest pits of hell - that Chris Evans may be one of those to front new Top Gear, myself and many others in the UK were scratching our heads at the appointment. (meanwhile many of those in the US wondered why a Hollywood actor wanted the part) If you think that is a bit harsh then you need to realise that Evans is a definite Love or Hate kind of personality, as his stint on Top Gear has shown. His voice is great for radio and when he was fronting The Big Breakfast, an early morning program that was literally all about waking you up from your slumber, hearing that loud siren-esque wail was perfect for getting you out of your bed and ready for the new day. As a typical presenter or narrator though, nope. His volume is just not suited properly for it. And this has nothing to do with the apparent need to hate whoever took over the role that became common with a large number of people (especially internationally). In fact, I've always been about giving the new Top Gear a chance. However it was obvious that with Evans being there, this was going to be tough and despite knowing that the team and the show would need time to gel and figure its own way, Evans was always seen as the worst of it. Whether it was in his failed efforts to replicate Clarkson's introduction style, the annoying attempts to invoke the crowd to cheer at "water splash!", the wooden interaction with an already wooden Matt LeBlanc or his poor way of delivering to the viewer what he was experiencing, you more endured him than watched him. In light of the announcement Evans himself took to twitter: So my advice would be: stick to radio Chris, you've got the voice for it. Main image credit: TopGear.com
  3. I think you will need to clarify just how much 'from the 80s' the car needs to be Softie. Is it a case of the make and model and so its subsequent variations are allowed or does the make and model NEED to be from the 80s itself. ie; 70s Countach no, 80s models yes?
  4. Red Bull Ring The Red Bull Ring is next for the detailing stage of the Assetto Corsa 'Red Pack' release-info-about-athon and inevitably the circuit is receiving the full laser scanned treatment in order to deliver an accurate rendition. Founded as the Österreichring, the circuit was host to the Austrian Formula One Grand Prix for 18 consecutive years from 1970-1987. Later it was shortened, rebuilt and was given the new name of A1-Ring, where under this new guise it became host of the Austrian GP from 1997-2003. With F1 outgrowing the track, plans were put in place and work started on extending the layout but construction stopped, the track fell into neglect and remained unusable until its owners Red Bull began a €70m reconstruction in late 2008, ending with and giving us the Red Bull Ring. The track opened again to professional racing with a visit from the DTM in its 2011 season and the championship has revisited every year since. Formula One also made its return, bringing the Austrian Grand Prix back to the F1 racing calendar after a ten-year absence with the Red Bull Ring's inclusion in the 2014 season. It would appear then, that this place has quite a history. The track will feature along with seven car models, some of which have already been confirmed: Maserati 250F, Lamborghini Aventador SV and the Ferrari SF15-T Formula 1. Assetto Corsa - Red Bull Ring Images [gallery link=file" columns="4" ids="5020,5021,5022,5023,5024,5025,5026,5027,5028,5029,5030,5031,5032,5033,5034,5035] The Red Pack DLC will be available to purchase July 14th on Steam and will be coming to consoles later in the year. Assetto Corsa is out now on Steam PC and will be released on console on August 26th in Europe and August 30th in North America.
  5. Scuderia Ferrari SF15-T Those crafty ones behind Assetto Corsa have been playing with our emotions again, titling their new upcoming content as the 'Red Pack' but with no Ferrari in sight. In fairness it was only a couple of days of no-show for the Prancing Horse and with a name like that for the pack you knew something from the stables of Modena had to be coming. What was not expected though was a Formula 1 car! The Scuderia Ferrari SF15-T from the 2015 F1 season was driven by cream of the crop drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen and had one of those fronts... or noses that only a mother or a diehard Tifosi could love. In the hands of Vettel it ('Eva' as he called it) won a few races, taking the chequered flag at Malaysia, Hungary and Singapore. Powered by a 1.6L V6 Turbo hybrid engine (WHYYYY?!?!?) that spat out 600 bhp with another 160 available via KERS and limited to a maximum of 15,000 rpm, the trailer that accompanies this announcement showing the car lapping around the also upcoming 'Red Pack' Red Bull Ring is more a treat for the eyes than the ears. In an interesting turn of events, this is not the F1 Ferrari that has been expected, as an F138 was shown quite predominantly in the original Console Announcement trailer back in January. Would Kunos be crazy enough to deliver two Scuderia Ferrari F1 racecars in the 'Red Pack'? Considering the season this car is from is the one where we had to look at those noses, let's hope so! 6. When I first saw the image I thought this was a Jupiter version of the typical earth aurora shots we see often but as it's using UV light, it's not.
  7. Assetto Corsa - Red Pack Tease Not taking much time to soak in the heaps of praise and adulation people have been throwing at Kunos Simulazioni after announcing that Porsche was coming to Assetto Corsa, the devs are back to teasing what else they have planned. Going by the game's official Facebook, this new downloadable content (DLC) for Assetto Corsa will be called the 'Red Pack' and will be out on July 14th. A couple of images of two of the vehicles that will be included was also shown as a small tease. Beginning with the gorgeous red Maserati 250F. This car was raced by two of the most famous names in motor-racing history: Juan Manuel Fangio and Sir Stirling Moss. With Fangio helping make the cars presence in motorsport felt immediately when it won its first race at the 1954 Argentine Grand Prix. An eyeful of orange (well you need red to make it I suppose) Lamborghini Aventador SV is next, and subtlety is most definitely not the case with this raging bull. With it's low and aggressive stance, sharp sticky out bits and huge rear wing, this thing wouldn't look out of place in Carmageddon mowing down cattle and scaring grannies! Powered by a thunderous V12 pumping out 740 bhp, a 0-60 time of less than 3 seconds and a sub 7 minute lap of the Nordschleife, this mad Lamborghini doesn't mind being on the road or the track. Speaking of track, Licensing Project Manager Marco Massarutto shared an in-game image of the Red Bull Ring, the latest addition to the game's already quite impressive circuit library. Interestingly the focus of this image seemed to be on a DRS marker. Does this hint to a modern Formula 1 car coming with this pack? If so there shouldn't be too long to wait before finding out. 8. That is cool but severely misleading no? :bdown:
  9. The rear of the new Panamera is a vast improvement over the first-gen but it's still got that side profile that I still believe is a love/hate thing. The new Citroen looks sharp, as it should being the demo its aimed at. I only wish they had carried the light design of the front into the rear in some way. And they've done this redesign very well, as it now appeals to more ages than what its predecessor did imo.
  10. This week has flown by and I still haven't caught up on the latest yet. In fact I think I am two EGs behind too. And the footy starts back up from tonight!
  11. You weren't kidding! The Mustang and desaturated Golf are real nice. :p
  12. I would like to see myself moving somewhere that has some good weather more often than not. Where that would be, I do not know. So much has gone on and could be set to go on in this world that answers I would have given 10 years ago are just not viable anymore. :(
  13. Nice shots cal and you could always post your pics in the new Gallery. Give people the option whether to view them or not.
  14. Thanks Ry. As most of it is down to myself to make happen it will be no quick thing and chances are I will probably break something else when going all mad scientist on it. :para: @Mike: Thanks man.
  15. Thanks Anders, that is good to hear as I have been staring it for ages and have only had myself and the blue team to get feedback from. And despite their observations being ever so helpful, it is good hearing from someone who has only seen it now. You're good to go now! The main point of this is to give people what they have (seemingly) been wanting for a while - a place where they can post their pics and vids in an easy manner. For a while we have heard how people wanted to post things but found it annoying to do so due to the broken up sections, this takes care of that does it not? And this is only part of what we have in mind for this place going forward. Just a bloody nuisance it's me that's gotta do it.
  16. Please bear with us while we put the relevant permissions in place. :warnsaw: //UPDATE: Permissions are a go and so now should be you! :nods:
  17. [headline]Gallery is NOW OPEN![/headline] You have probably seen us on the blue team (aka staff) talking about things that cannot be talked about or mentioning stuff that is being worked on and this is one of them. This media gallery is in response to us hearing how you do like to share your media you have taken from games and real life, but that it's hard to do so on the community because of the break-up of titles and sections we have. And that's completely understandable and is something we have wanted to do something about for a long time but, there just wasn't an adequate solution for doing so. Until now and even though it has been a lot of work, I personally feel it was worth it and hope that you guys will too. ...oh yeah the link is up there ^ :D On smaller devices the gallery is disabled. It is something we want to get working on and have done some tests in how to go about it but it's a big job and I wanted to get it on for the majority of our visitors. Please note this is essentially in Beta and so you may experience the occasional bug or glitch. Should this happen please post in here the 'what, when and why' so we can investigate the issue, hopefully find it and squash it. First and foremost: the gallery is for YOUR stuff. We want to encourage you to share your own photo mode shots, in-game captures, youtube videos and real life media with us. You can copy either the page link itself or the direct link and paste them in the forum to show your stuff in threads. (but not elsewhere as a hotlinking feature is in place) 1. UPDATE:// 15/7/16 – The blue team are now notified of media awaiting approval so this should help in the amount of waiting required. :)
  18. Well just like I said and wanted, the rain came out and shook up the grid. Some risk takers decided to go with slicks and this was completely the wrong decision, whereas others had the perfect setup along with the absolute no fear to go balls to the wall and drive like the world was about to end unless they won the race. And that is exactly what Sutton in his MG did. Boy was he in the zone and dialled in. Throwing the car about like it was perfect conditions and the grip was never in doubt... but on greasy ever getting wetter track. Full credit to the boy, he drove an absolute blinder. The safety cars helped bunch up the grid at times but the work still needed to be done and he did it. Now if all the rest of the remaining races could be in the rain, who knows what the MGs could end up doing. But the summer break is on and an AGE of waiting is beyond us as the next round isn't until the end of July. I always hate this time of the BTCC calendar. :impat:
  19. Really want this rain to stick around and get a bit heavier. Would throw in a factor that would reduce some of the RWD advantage Croft delivers.
