Oh man, freakin' 10 years. 10 YEARS.

Some time around 2007-2008 (ish) I was browsing YouTube, on my first personal computer, and I came across a video of a driving game. It was literally everything I'd dreamed of since I started playing driving games like Gran Turismo when I was maybe 5 years old, back on our PlayStation 1. Cockpit camera, massive open roads, loads of cars, beautiful scenery, even a Sims-like character and home customisation, it was my dream game. My memory is a little fuzzy now but I'm 99% that video was actually one of Diablo's, with his link to 'tdu-central' in the description.

Well I bought the game, or rather begged my dad to buy me the game, initially for the PS2 in fact as that was the only console I had at the time. Shortly afterwards I started lurking on TDUC, it was full of useful tips and resources that helped me find certain dealerships and tuning shops, etc. At some point (well, 8 years ago) I signed up to the site and met a bunch of great people who invited me to play with them, so I saved up my monies and got an Xbox 360 and the 360 version of TDU. It was so much better. The graphics and all the other improvements of what was then the "next gen" version were fantastic, but even better was the ability to play my favourite game and meet like-minded strangers from all around the world, people of all ages, and of course cruise with the wonderful people I'd met on this site. It's still a great highlight from my teen years, and I'll never forget the fun I had nor will I forget how kind and welcoming people were, even though I was a pain in the ass! :p

I've got some amazing memories that I wouldn't have had if it weren't for this place. In fact this site helped me through a really crappy time in my life, and I'm so grateful it exists. I've made some great friends here, even though we've all grown up, our lives have changed, and we're maybe not as close as we once were ("the MSN era"), I still love you all.

In the present day things have changed a bit. TDU is still alive, amazingly, thanks to some very talented people. However TDU is over a decade old now, even its long awaited and (IMO) disappointing sequel was released 6 years ago, a lifetime ago for most games. Turboduck has changed with the times, which is the only way we can move forward, and we've experienced the joys and disappointments of Forza Horizon, various Forza Motorsport games, The Crew, and numerous other games that have yet to fill the void left by our beloved Test Drive Unlimited. However we'll continue to struggle on, waiting for our next TDU and enjoying what we've got in the meantime, because thankfully due to the efforts of Diablo and the rest of #TEAMBLUE who came before me this site is still with us today, 10 years on. I don't know what the future holds, but if we give it a bloody good go, maybe turboduck can be around for another 10 years. I hope so.

    Happy birthday TDUCK.

Wow, 10 yrs already? I've been around here for almost 9 of them. I remember playing TDU for the first time on a friend's house. Since that first drive on an orange Corvette C6, I was hooked to the game. I remember not having a powerful enough PC to play it, and my first purpose built PC was mainly because of TDU. When I installed the game, it was like nothing I've ever seen before (But we can leave that for another post), and not too long after it, I found this site. I shared my first ever pictures of a racing game here, a 288GTO. It was always so good to visit the picture thread for updates and encounter so many works of art (This still happens today, though).
Sadly, I've always been outside the TDU meet ups, because I had a pirated copy of it. Getting PC games down here, in Argentina, was difficult and too expensive in those times. Also I've always been outside FM races, because I've never had a xbox, actually, that console officially "arrived" here no too long ago. But, despite of it, I always came back here again again, to check pics, and then mods... Oohh I remember the hype around tool831's Audi R8, the level of detail in it was awesome. But Forza models arrived shortly after, expanding the variety of high quality cars exponentially. And after that TDU slightly faded away, but many other games appeared, keeping this site alive.
Somehow, with mine and the site's ups and downs, I always end up here. Seeing photos, reading about some user's problems, arranging to play any other game... It's always a pleasure to be here, and we all enjoy being a part of it. The site grew up, their users grew up and of course I'm no exception. During my almost 9 year-stay here (With no check out date) I have: Finished High school, obtained a driver's license, obtained a boat driver's license, obtained a pilot's license, got a girlfriend, split up with her and met my current girlfriend, traveled through 4 continents (Haven't met any of you guys so far, I hope to revert that in July) and clear half way of my engineer's degree. During that time, I have always checked this site, and saw how it morphed from a dedicated TDU site to a racing gaming site, with new functionalities, new contests, new users and so much more things, I can't recall.
Wow, what a ride! Let's hope it just keeps going!

    Cheers!

Yep October 2012 IIRC. I remember those (what we thought were) last days well.

TDU2's map is fantastic, they added to and improved the already incredible Hawaii map and added a second Ibiza map. The graphics aren't incredible but they are pretty. If we could just fix those god awful physics. It may not ruin the game for everyone, but for me as a long-time TDU player it was just too bad in comparison. Even still, I've tried to pick it up a few times since and it just feels awful - weirdly disconnected from the inputs. I swear even the beta was slightly better.

It's a true shame that Assetto Corsa can't handle large maps (supposedly the further away from the start point the worse the physics become) because that could answer all our prayers.

I love the idea too, I've always loved Nintendo. Zelda's Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess are up there with some of the best games ever made imo.

If I had children under the age of 15 I'd be throwing their PS4/XBOne away and getting a Switch instead tbh, I'd much rather they were playing most of the Nintendo games than COD4 or GTA haha

TIMELESS reacted to Loek in Salon de TDUCK: New Car Releases
I found this article on a Dutch car site (but obviously you can't read it so I'll translate it for you)

It contains what BMW is planning for their model range. I found it very interesting

    1 and 2 Series
These two get a facelift in early 2017, together with the second facelift of the 3-Series. Design wise, nothing will change, they just update their cars to stay fresh. However, the future of these is interesting. In the question whether the RWD 1-Series will die, BMW said that they might drop the current shape of the 1-Series entirely, to make an A1-rival (currently this is what the Mini Cooper is doing). The 2-Series will be split into the FWD, functional series (2 Serie Active and Grand Tourer) and the RWD series (2 Serie Coupé and Convertible). The current shape of the 1-Series will be transformed into a 2-Series, whether it will join the RWD or FWD bunch, is unknown as of yet.
If the Chinese 2-Series Sedan will be sold in Europe is unclear too, but there is a chance that it will. Confirmed is that a 2-Series Gran Coupé is coming our way.

    3 and 4 Series
As said before, the 3 Series will get a facelift in 2017, while the new 3 and 4 will come in 2019. The recipe for the 3-Series won't change, sedan and Touring is what we will get from that. The 3 Series GT will be dropped, probably in favor for a new 4-Series Gran Coupé, which will fill in the hole that the current loss of the 3GT leaves open, while staying as the 4GC is now. Curious to see that working out.

    5 Series
The new 5 Series is already released, obviously. However, the full engine range is not complete yet. The M550i is known, which will get the big brother M5, with all-wheel drive. The article doesn't mention an M5 Touring, so let's not count on it. The M550i will also get a Diesel brother, the M550d, as it was before. However, it will also get an M550e variant. This will be the same engine as the M550d, but with electronic engine power added.

    X5 and X7
The F15 generation of the X5 isn't around for that long, however, in 2018, when the new one will come, it's 5 years old. It will be built on a completely new chassis which will also introduce the long awaited big brother of the X5: the X7.
For the new platform a lot of weight-shredding is planned, which is necessary, considering the F15 is largely based on the heavy chassis of the E70.

    Z Models
The Z4 is dropped, hence BMW hasn't got any Z-models for sale at the moment. Nor are they confirming to have one production ready between now and 2020. The BMW Z5 is likely to come in 2017/18 though, this will be developed together with the new Toyota Supra, which was planned for this year. This Z5 will be a convertible, placed higher than the Z5. Of this, a Z6 Coupé variant is planned, too. There are also rumours of smaller models to match, which will be the Z3 as convertible and Z4 as coupé. The last two however, are based on a rumour, BMW hasn't said anything about them yet.

    i Range
The current i-Range consists of the full electric i3 and the hybrid i8. With the hype around the i8 gone, and a potent rival, the NSX, it's time for BMW to make the i8 exciting again. And they will, with an i8 Roadster, coming in 2017/18. This will trade in it's three-cylinder engine for a four-cylinder engine.
BMW has also planned a car called iNext, a revolutionairy EV-Supersaloon which will replace the 7-Series. This won't happen before 2021, hence we don't have that much more info on it.

"But Santtu, don't we already have a thread for gaming videos?"

    Yes.

    "Then what's this all about?"

Well listen up! This thread here is meant for your short gaming clips. Both the Xbox One and the Playstation 4 are capable of saving the last few cool moments that might have happened to you during the gameplay - those are the clips I'm talking about. Unlike in the gaming video thread, the videos you post here should be kept quite short so that it'll take less effort for people to watch them.

"But Santtu, I have this extremely cool 1 hour race recording from my favourite racing sim! What do I do wit-"

You post it in the aforementioned gaming video thread.Even though there's this thread now you can still use the old one! This thread is meant for sharing all your cool clips that you might have recorded on your Xbox that you want to show everyone but nobody bothers watching them on their Xbox. The old thread is for posting this sweet lap you nailed on the Nordschleife or this trailer you made for this sweet upcoming racing sim etc.

"Okay, so how do I share these clips?"

You're in luck! In case you're a bit lost, I've made handy guides for capturing clips and sharing them here! You can find them at the bottom of the opening post in this thread. Obviously if you know how to do them in a different fashion, you're obviously more than welcome to do it your own way.

I don't think I need to be posting any big rules about it, let's keep the max clip length in this thread at 1-2 minutes. Short and sweet. Longer than that and you should turn to the video thread. And please warn others if there's NSFW content in your clips.

tl;dr We want to see your 1-2 min clips where something cool, stupid, funny or  happened.

Let's get this thread going with a clip from a few weeks back when I was playing Forza Horizon 3 with @hassan1995 @mau92 and @Rassva :D

We were playing infected and headed into this tube only to find out that the game area ran out at the other end and the only way out was the same way we came in. Mau was the infected and he was already entering the tube so Hassan panicked, Rass didn't get out either but I didn't give up. :duck:

Got my blood flowing quite well :eek2::eek:hno: Start sharing your clips people! :happyspin:
[spoiler=Guides to recording game clips][spoiler=Xbox One]Recording the clip: Double tap the Xbox button (the big white glowing thing on your controller) and press X. Alternatively you canshout at your Kinect if you happen to own one of them. The voice command is "Xbox, record that".

Adjusting your game clip length: Go to the console's settings by pressing the former start button (can't recall what it's new stupid name is) on the main screen and go to Preferences -> Game DVR & Streaming. From there, you can choose between 15/30/45 seconds or 1/3/5 minutes. This is the length of the saved clip once you tell your console to record what just happened.

Sharing the clip on turboduck: You can upload the clip straight to Youtube using the Youtube app on your Xbox. Just choose Upload from the sidebar menu and you'll get a list of the gaming clips on your console.

My favourite way of doing this, though, is through the Windows 10 Xbox app. Just navigate to the DVR section on the sidebar and choose to show clips on Xbox live. Then you can find your clip and once you click on it, you should have 2 buttons below the video information: Download and share. You can download the video to your PC and then upload it to Youtube the old fashioned way. The downloaded videos will be stored under the Videos folder in your PC, in a subfolder that's probably screen captures or screenshots. I wouldn't know as my PC language is set to finnish.

[spoiler=Playstation 4]Okay, I am prepared to be corrected on this one as I don't own a PS4 myself. All of this information was provided to me by Google and strangers on some gaming discussion forums.

Recording the clip: Press the Share button on your PS4 controller. Sorry - Dualshock 4. You'll open the share menu. Press square to save the clip.

Adjusting your game clip length: Press the Share button on your PS4 controller. Sorry - Dualshock 4. You'll open the share menu. Hit the options button (is this really what they call the select button these days?) and ta-da! You should be able to not only adjust the game clip length but also what the share button does. You can make it do different things when you do a short, a long or a double press.

Sharing the clip on turboduck: You can copy the saved clip from your PS4's HDD to a memory stick and upload it to Youtube on your PC. OR you could choose Upload Clip at the point where you're saving the clip. Though I can imagine that being a bit annoying if you're, for example, in the middle of a war. Or a race. I'm not sure if you can upload the already saved clips on your HDD straight to Youtube on your console. Like I said though - someone who actually owns a PS4 can correct me if there's a better way to do things.

[spoiler=PC using Shadowplay]For those of you that don't know what Shadowplay is, it is a feature on Nvidia graphics cards only. Basically it lets you do what you can do on the consoles, either record a clip for as long as you'd like or record a cool thing that already happened. For AMD users, there's apparently something called ReLive, though the first time I've stumbled upon it was now so I can't tell you much about it.

First you need to make sure that Shadowplay is enabled. You should have a program called Geforce Experience installed and running. Then you press the little triangle button on the top bar, known as the share button most likely. Then it opens the UI for the share feature (I'm not honestly even sure if it's called Shadowplay at all anymore? Let's just call it the share feature from this point onwards). You have to enable the Instant Replay feature. By clicking on it you can also adjust the game clip length and other settings related to it. You also have the microphone and the webcam options on the main screen of the UI. There you also have the small gear icon leading you to options. There you can adjust the save location for the clips and the hotkey that records the clip. I think the default bind might be Alt+F10. Then you go to the folder where the clips are saved and upload that file to Youtube.

[spoiler=PC using Xbox app]Okay, if you have the choice between this and Shadowpl- *cough* The Nvidia share overlay, definitely go for the latter and disable the Xbox DVR as it apparently loves to destroy your performance. If you want to use it though, here's how it works:

I think you have to have the Xbox app installed on your Win10 PC to have this feature in working order. You adjust the settings by going to the settings page in the Xbox app and by choosing Game DVR (or something like that, something something finnish PC). You might have to enable background recording from the options as it might not be enabled to begin with. Then you start the game and press Win+Alt+G to record a clip. The saved clips go to the videos folder in your PC under a subfolder that's apparently called captures. Upload the clip to Youtube and we're good to go.

Mr Softie, your Japanese correspondent here. (apparently)

    The new Lexus LS:

    All-new 3.5 L twin-turbo V6 engine producing 415bhp/310kW and 600Nm of torque.
10-speed automatic transmission. It is a torque converter automatic, yet with shift times that rival those of dual-clutch transmissions.
0-62mph acceleration time of 4.5 seconds
Built on Lexus’s new global architecture for luxury vehicles, an extended version of the rear-wheel drive GA-L platform that also underpins the new LC luxury coupe.
The GA-L platform is the stiffest in Lexus’s history, setting the stage for improved handling, ride smoothness and cabin quietness.
Lexus engineers used lightweight materials, including ultra-high-tensile steel and aluminium, to carve more than 90kg from the weight of the current LS’s platform and body. (It's still a boat though, come on)

I quite like the front (it's not for everybody) but I think that ass is ugly. And apparently so do Lexus, since this was the best photo available...

I saw it on Autoblog.nl, they got the numbers from Reuters (some international press agency). I got the exact smart and AMG numbers from the investor relations summary which is online as a PDF. The other brands is a combination of the same Reuters article, the dutch Autoblog article and Volvo's numbers by googling.
