TDU Story line

I might come to regret this for all the harassment & booing I shall get but I just wanted to say what my concept for TDU would be.

 

The original idea was great but I though the idea of arriving and buying house straigh away was a big unrealistic (well so I think).

 

I reckon is should be more of a campain/career sorta sent up and once you arrive to the island (having done the same for what TDU intro offered, aka selected your character @ the airport and watch the intro movie - though this one will have off road cut seens! yay!) you rent a car.... and a caravan (boo :cry: )

 

Then you have to drive to a caravan park and live out of you caravan until you win enough to buy a house. But you can have like some perks. Like the car you rent is a Q7 (so you can go in off road events) and maybe as part of the story like a fellow camea has like a Class F car they let you use to race with to win some $$$$ :lol:

 

Then as you make money you can buy a house and buy your own car! So it start of like a campain you borrow a "friends" car until you get your feet set.

 

But reversing up a big (lol no pun intended :oook:) the caravan part.... when you arrive to the park no cutscene well maybe but I would like it if though you had to park the van yourself! Great chance of use to try out our G25's/G27's clutch control and our skill @ parking a van, lil alone the physic engine for TDU 2... I mean suspension flex on the car as it backs over the curve... and the back sagging from the weight of the trailer... ok maybe I'm starting to talk about a completly different game.... that doesn't exist? Does one :nuts:

 

Ok I can see I'm gonna get mean and rude messages and I may end up or a mod deleting this post, but for me! this would be the best story line for TDU 2 :lol:

by any chance, have you read any of the articles describing the whole concept of the game, living The High Life?

The story has been described as rags-to-riches, so it would be interesting to start off with low end items. Maybe start off by either buying a nice house or a nice car, but not having enough to buy both. So you buy a cheap 2 car house/trailer/apartment and a cheap car, do a few races/missions to get enough money to upgrade the car or if you're skilled enough, hold out until you can buy another car. Will be interesting to see how it pans out, but I know alot of people are going to want to step into "the high life" quickly, so it will probably start out almost exactly the same as TDU.

Nice idea. I've always thought rags-to-riches is a great metaphor for life. I think this could be a reality. It's making your way up to riches and then living the "High Life"...

I know the game is based on "high Life" sfy2004 but clearly there's people like you who I guess are too lazy to "work up the ranks and earn your hight life rather than jumping straight in.

 

Ok so maybe the caravan isn't a good Idea (Though I would like to pull a rental van with a rental Q7 :))

 

Plus for us who have game wheels such as the G25/27 & so forth but both Logitechs have a clutch so I would really like to start off the game trying to reverse park it ( I guess they would have a cut option? Either watch a quick cut scene of your charater reverse parking the van) or you can choose to do it yourself and park it within the hightlighted spot.

 

I know some people want to jump in deep straight away but I think they game should be based on WORKING up to the light life, by starting off with rags (aka a rental 4x4, a cravan living in a trailer park & a fellow camper lets you borrow their F class car until you make enough money to support your self. So say you start the game with Oh.... $1000

 

So just like the rental part for TDU 1, u can select a tow car/caravan so you can say pick a Q7 and a small single axle van or say another 4x4 and a double axle van but it will cost more and will cost more to for rent when camping but I guess it could have some perks.... IDK.... I'm starting to write a hole new script here but you know what I'm getting at :eek:

If you'd of seen the pre-production concept art you'd know that the trailer park idea was thought up a long time ago by the game devs and could well still be in the game.

 

The rags to riches idea would also add longevity to the game as it would make you work for all the "exclusive" items in the game such as the big houses, yacht, expensive cars etc.

 

Giving you access to them from the beginning would shorten the game quite a lot as most people wouldn't even go for the slower cars or smaller houses.

 

Just my thoughts on it.

Rags to Riches has been mentioned in at least one preview/first impression, can't remember which one but it sounds like there's still a lot to be revealed in regards to the actual story.

How about... instead of a car and a caravan you just buy an RV/motorhome(same thing really!) and live and race in it! Off road Motorhome championship... just might work!

Anyway, back to reality, I think something like this could work, maybe 2 modes: Jump straight in: Start with enough to buy a decent car and house. Work your way up: Start with a rental car and decent caravan/ decent car and rental caravan! Apart from that and some special acheivements for the 2nd mode they should be excactly the same!

They could just go the original TDU way, and the idea is since your in an average car and small house. Or they could do it along the idea you have!

 

Personally my idea would be: You go to ibiza and theres someone else on the plane, and sorta like the Pokomon games there your 'rival'. From there you make your way up from renting a car and appertment(or buying one, rent the other). From there you gain rep and money from your driving and partying(they did say you'd get rep and that from beeing social?) and every so often you get a call from your rival wanting to race, and every time there slightly better. Once you get so far, via racing, cruzing, socialising and all that you end up beeing 'Mr Popular' of the island, having a boat and all that.....from there you then do somthing that lets you fly to O'ahu! And thats kinda where the main story would end!

Maybe sorta changing your a bit they would either rent a car or rent a house buy a car but the house they can oly afford @ first is in a trailer park! Like a little water front cabin! Also, does anyone know if we will be able to work around our houses or will it be cut scenes like TDU?

 

But I like your idea, personally I would buy a car & then rent a cabin on the water front in a trailer park! The thing is you can ony store one car on your site/drive way so you have to race with this one car until you can afford a small house....

As much as a story may be interesting, ultimately I probably won't care whether it's good or bad. So long as it drives the game forwards and isn't wasting to much time with cutscenes (MGS4 anyone?).
