They aren't steelies though... they're actually alloys.

Hmmm, blue fronts, red rears, tempting.

I've actually got it booked for its MOT on Thursday, eep! If it passes that I've got an interesting idea for the exhaust...

Sooo....

It failed the MOT on Thursday due to smoke density. I turned the fuelling right down, to the point where it drove like a non-turbo diesel, then it passed yesterday.

I then drove it round the corner from the garage and 5 minutes with a screwdriver got it back to its smokey, boosted self.

The plan for the exhaust will probably materialise this coming Thursday, as I know some folk who will weld it for me, but they won't be about until Thursday evening.

DP: I did an adjustment to the fuel pump yesterday.

How do I explain it, hmm. There is a pin inside the top of the fuel pump which rests on top of a spring. The pin has a wedge cut out of it, and as the boost pushes the pin down against the spring, the wedge increases the fuelling in accordance with the boost.

You can lift this pin out and turn it 90 degrees so that the steepest angle is used. The steepest angle isn't used in the factory setting.

Basically, the fuelling increases faster as it boosts, so the boost pressure also increases faster. Result - better throttle response and OMG fast acceleration! My boost gauge just shoots up to 16-17psi almost instantly and just stays there!

EDIT: Watch

for a better explanation. It's the same Bosch VE fuel pump, but fitted to a Dodge Ram with a Cummins engine.

16psi isn't much for a diesel. It's running more like 17-18psi at the moment.

Plenty of people running these in the low-mid 20's, then they fit front mounted intercoolers and go mental. There's one guy running a massive turbo and 40psi! He is on his 3rd engine block now though...

Also, here's a picture of my massive mudguards:

They're so stupid...

Also, my plans for the exhaust involve this...

I hate how easy it is for you to get leaf-pattern half leathers :(

I need them but for a three-door and with side-airbags. Almost impossible. Think I'll settle for half leather, half alcantara ones.

Yours look good though, hardly any (if any at all) bolster wear on the driver's seat.

I'm liking the seats! Now you should color match those mud guards!!

Eeeeew, that would look nasty. Big white mud-flaps, no thanks.

The side exhaust, hmm, I'll get onto that. I think I'll need to ask an exhaust place to weld it on for me.

What about a big exhaust coming out of the bonnet and running up, kinda like an off-roader? That would be cool

Waaaay too much fabrication work.

At the moment I'm in the process of painting a smoothed grille I bought off the 306 forums. It's gonna look goooood.
