Unfair infraction

It doesn't matter, the rules say not to do that.

1.1 Inappropriate content

a. No profanity, swearing or obscenities

Be they in text, image or movie form. This includes trying to get around the swear filter with *’s and numbers and characters to represent letters. Please note that in “The Bin” and “General Chat” sections there may be some content that is not suitable for younger members and will be “Not Safe for Work or School” (NSFWoS). These are usually funny images or youtube videos and if you are posting these then please make sure you put NSFWoS along with some warning in bold red text in the first post itself to alert people to this.

Well 'What the frank/fudge/feck/funk/fighting-fish' can also be said to mean "WTF" and a big part of whether a word should be used is easily shown via the context it's being put in.

WTF??!?! / WTF?!?! That is brilliant = Jokey fun/Confused state

WTF are you talking about! / WTF are you going to do about it! / WTF idiot? = Argumentative

This I can understand, and as I said before my comment was supposed to be jokey, It is not an angry comment.

This I'm sorry but I can't accept. It's like covering the sun with your hand. We all know what it's behind, what it means. Plus if this applies to "WTF", why it can't apply to ***??? Many other words could fit in there too.

It amazes me the idiocy of this argument that people try to bring up once or twice a year.

Want the main answer? This is a privately owned and run community, you can say only what we allow and cannot say what we don't allow. Don't like it, join a community that allows you to say anything or create your own.

Got it? 99.99999998% of people understand this and yet amazingly there's still that minute minority that don't. Not to mention it only usually rears it's head when people have been warned or infracted for something they have done.

Congrats. You've made the Diablo lose his patience.

It's not so much the word/acrostic that's the problem. It's the way that it's used.

Like Diablo said "WTF... that's hilarious" is an expression of confusion, whereas "WTF, you moron" is just argumentative.

All we're meaning by these rules is "These rules are here to acommodate the younger members' best interests." If this site was all about swearing/abuse/pornography, then no one would come here and it certainly wouldn't be the place it is now.

Why would you cover it up with stars unless you meant some swearword? ;)

Good point. Thanks for the answer. End of argument.

Just wow. I never expected an answer like this from you just for trying to let things clear. I still have less than a year in experience with forums and still learning. Insulting and saying "you'll do as i say" wasn't necessary. I thought we were having a nice conversation.

Eh.. don't worry about it, take this as a lesson in that experience. Infractions are actually very discrete, you wouldn't lose any respect from the rest of us because we wouldn't know anything had ever happened. (Until you mentioned it publicly.) Infractions lie between yourself and staff.

Infractions wear off after a period of time anyway, you're not banned and so far as I can tell have no restrictions emplaced on you. Rules are rules, and we've all fallen foul of them, myself included.

Sorry but the ARSE thing is an in-house joke and if you weren't around when it started then you will have no idea what it means at all.

i don't need to understand it to quote it or use it out of any context or frame of referance.

how many of your userbase were there for it's inception anyway?
