  1. 1. How long until you ditch TDU2?

    • Never! They'd have to seriously screw up TDU3 or 4 before I ditched them.

    • I'll give them a year from their original release date (~September 24)
      6
    • I'll wait to see if the next patch, or the patch after that fixes things, since they mention the iss
      22
    • I'll wait until the next big racing game comes out (DiRT 3 is out near the end of May)
      7
    • I've already given up and uninstalled it.

TDU2 has been crap thus far, I think we can all agree to that to come extent. I think a few things go into that.

We know Atari weren't financially stable enough to give us the TDU2 we all wanted, and we were right. We did not get everything we wanted. Also, we all had high hopes and held TDU2 to an extremely high standard before it was even released. Thus, we were let down. That is not to say that things cannot improve.

How long you ask? I voted for the third option. With Eden's "list" of things to do, it seems as though TDU2 has the potential to become vastly improved. If Eden actually follows through with their plans is something that is still up in the air. If I were a betting man, I would bet on being let down once again. If there were ever a time I wish I was wrong, that time is now.

The DLC must be better, the sounds must be better, and the damage must become optional. I honestly feel that leaving out any of the three of those vital components will spell failure.

TDU2 still has potential, let us hope Atari/Eden see this as well.

Of course. As long as they are seen to be implementing the smaller easier 'wants' of the community on a regular basis (say, fortnightly for the PC version, since we have the fancy launcher/updater), then it'll at least help us be patient while they work on the larger stuff like handling tweaks/rebuild.

Nobody uses Windows ME, but people still play TDU2, so I thought that was a + for the Vista comparison ;)

TDU2 is more like Windows XP at launch, fair amount of issues but full of promise. After some work and the release of some big Service Packs it was made good however some small updates caused more damage in places and caused errors elsewhere were there was none. Basically what I'm saying is wait for TDU2 SP3 for everything to be sorted out right.

i wont sell the game and i will probably continue to play it every once in a while with the hope that they will slowly perfect it. but that hope dwindles. i seriously doubt we will see a TDU3. In my opinion this was their chance to prove that they can make this series established and profitable. Instead it has been a nightmare.

they should just say screw it and start making DLC for TDU1. its established and has the licenses in it already (unless they expired or somethin)

We should call it Test Drive Vista, and wait for Test Drive 7 then ;)

I love Vista bashers. Funny people.

How about we wait for Test Drive Majove? (Google will help you understand why Majove is sooo funny, and proves that people made opinions on Vista before even trying it)

Anyway, onwards and upwards. All they need to do is get their acts together, and get a to-do list going, one that they actually look at before they sit down to start messing with gamecode again. I am also 100% sure that Eden offices is full of people just wandering around all day, jacking off into each others waste paper bins. Atleast that's the impression I get. :p

Hehe, I wasn't (and still am not really) a Vista basher. It was good if you had a fast PC, and it made faster components available in greater quantities, and hence cheaper which was good, but when 7 came out it was obviously much better.

;P I have Vista on my desktop, and I have never had a days trouble with it, ever. (The OS, I have had plenty of hardware trouble in the past, but that's all sorted now I have upgraded pretty much everything in it :p)

This laptop has 7 on it, and to be very honest with you, I struggle to see any differences between the two, they both have very much the same layout, same features, etc etc. No doubt 7 probably has a lot of extra work in the "background", but to me, the user, the only differences I see are the visual changes. :p

Sorry for off topic. ;p

I'm going to wait to see what the plans are after the release of the Exploration Pack (across all formats) are before I take a guess at how much longer I'll be interested in TDU2. Saying that though, I always have a quick blast whenever I can. The uniqueness of this game does help to overlook the bugs and missing features. :)

You just gotta hate loving TDU, or love hating it, whichever side of the fence you stand.

  • 3 weeks later...

So Diablo - any responses from the devs after sending that list of stuff TDU2 desperately needs?

Would anyone change their vote for the poll given the passing of time, the strike/redundancies (& the disappearance of GMDestra and InfoNinja), the lack of news on console patches, etc?

@Ryzza: lol, that's it! We aren't hearing anything because they're fixing/adding our entire suggestions list! :D

@Mikeh: Same here, but I won't sell it just yet (it's a steam game anway, wouldn't work xD). I'm still driving around a few times but it's too short. The game has 0 replayvalue if the online things don't work and you can't earn considerable money as easy as before completing the cups, and there's no sign things will improve. Activity on the TDU2.com forums is stalling, especially at Atari's side.

the only action on the tdu2 forums is Kalniel editing and locking threads. the way we have just been left in the lurch is a little disgusting, to be honest.

i cast my vote in this poll based on good faith that they would at least drop a bone here and there. if it was not for the people i have met in the poker games, i would have left this game 2 or 3 weeks ago. the poker is the only thing i do anymore. literally, i log in, drive to the casino port, play a while then go back to O'ahu and drive the car back to the house.

now we have an interesting new development to wory about....the tdu2 servers are registered to Cryptic Studios, and apparently they have been sold to a Chinese company Perfect World buys Star Trek Online maker Cryptic Studios- Destructoid

so what does this bit of news mean for the future of the entire Test Drive series? and does this now affect your vote in this poll?

As far as I know that doesn't really affect TDU2 or the servers, I'm sure we'll hear something once it's all official and completed though. Maybe once that's done in fact certain people will be able to talk and interact with the community again, until then though the silence will remain unfortunately much to the detriment of Atari and Eden in the eyes of the community.
