3) SAFER. VW has equipped the new Golf with lots of advanced driver assistance systems such as pre-crash system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning system, driver drowsiness detection (Fatigue detection system) and so on. /those systems are actually pretty basic nowadays. :p

Besides Audi, BMW, Mercedes I don't know of any other hatch-backs that are spec'ed as well as the Golf. i30 is probably the only car that comes close (that comes to mind), but from what I've heard that's just new gadgets draped on top of what's basically a 10 year old car design/framework underneath. I also heard an Australian Hyundai senior exec mention on TV that their R&D work on DSG gearboxes due to the extra fuel efficiency + sportiness provided and hope to see it next year, 10 years after it appeared in the 2003 VW Mk4 Golf R32.

lol, might've gone a bit /ot there :)

There's a new infotainment system, too, which uses a 5-inch display on entry-level models, a 5.8-inch colour display on mid-level cars and a massive 8-inch WVGA screen on range-topping models. While they’ll all be capable of controlling the audio and air-conditioning settings, high-end versions will feature 3D sat-nav and be combined with new ‘Heptactic’ touch, which senses your finger approaching the screen and switches from display to operating modes.

Sounds promising, however I prefer buttons or controllers like BMW's iDrive or MB's COMAND. You can use them without looking at the screen when you know the system.

All-New 2013 Volkswagen Golf Mk7: This is Really It, First Official Photos - Carscoop

Focussing on the interior:

Notice the DSG it has D/S together on the same row. S (Sport mode) used to be underneath.

Then on the nav system the buttons say Radio, Media, Phone, Voice, Nav, Traffic, *Car*, Setup. Not sure what Car is for, might replace old MFD settings.

Also don't like the side mirror controls facing that way similar to the current Jetta, found it harder to move the mirrors precisely compared to it's current orientation on the Mk6 Golf.

Hard to tell but is the accelerator pedal not coming up from the floor this time?

Climatronic buttons in a row along the top as before, hard to get the one you want sometimes. Below in the middle dial they also have a Setup button???

Interesting perspective on it. The Mk6s lines are definitely more... pure (yeah, it's hard to describe - stately?). It's weird how different it looks with the addition of a few creases, a redesigned bumpers, and new lights. Also, keep in mind that VW is attempting to become the largest automaker in the world, and this is a major part of their efforts.

We'll have to wait to see if it works. :hmmm:

So, anyone excited for the Mk7 Golf R reveal in September? :)

There's actually more good news down under here, thanks to the new Mercedes Hot Hatches, Audi has dropped $11,000 off the price of the new S3 due here in December, which is pretty much the current Golf R price, which means that'll have to be cheaper, which means the GTI will have to be cheaper.

Win Win Win :D
