BBC News - Saab to resume making cars in Sweden

 

The new owners seem to have gotten Saab back on its feet. We already knew they were going electric but they will restart the normal petrol version of the 9-3 before that happens. Wonder where this will go from now?

I remember seeing this back in October. I read an article somewhere they can't make the 9-5 and 9-4X due to intellectual property issues. I really like the new 9-5 wagon.

Nice! Looking pretty good still. Though that 9-3 is getting pretty old now, hopefully they'll be able to resurrect the new 9-3 project in some way.

Realistically if they changed the rear it would look a lot more modern, nice looking cars though (imo).

Going to feel strange when they have to stop calling them Saabs and change the badging and everything. :hmmm:

 

killalldude: I really like the 9-5 estate too but they didn't have time to get it approved/certified/whatever before they closed down in 2011 so it's not legal to drive on public roads anywhere I think. They only made very few of them and they are all in the hands of collectors now. All of them were auctioned off last year along with a few other cars, including Victor Muller's own former personal car. :hmmm:

Yeah, trying to sell a car on a more than 10 years old platform with rather not-so-modern looks. Who do they think will buy those things?

It says in the articles both that they haven't had the time to change the car that much as it's only been a year since they purchased all the rights to it, and that the cars they are building now have been bought by the Chinese government agencies. Change will come, only it takes a lot of time and a lot of money.
