Yes, the patch 1.68 is required for mods.

With the megapack you get only 1.66A. 1.68b is a community patch.

 

1.68b and Djey's magic map and it should work, mate. If not, reinstall the game.

Since when is the community patch needed for standalone car mods? It's been ages since I tried out 1.68b but I ultimately ended up uninstalling it due to too many unwanted side effects.

 

Or is the patch only needed because of the designated car slot used for that mod?

As far as i remember 1.68b is not required for car mods, also did you modified physics of the car?? Sometimes it writes the name of the car with error that might be the cause too.

The patch is needed as long you install the car via installer. Because the installer requires the new database entries contained in the patch. If you just copy the files in the game, you just need the magic map.

That was needed for brands like Porsche, BMW and some others that weren't originally in the game, you can install any Lambo or Ferrari and the game shouldn't crash

IIIRC there are two S 65's for TDU and both don't have an auto installer.

 

OP, upload a screenshot of the car. And what slot did you install it on?
