A few facts about creating truly realistic physics

Recommended Posts

I think many know how to do physics for TDU and some believe that writing these data on the machine and create a believable physics, but unfortunately this is not the case and now for example I'll try to tell and show!

1)Consider the example of Chevrolet Corvette Z51 2015, as all corvettes ranging from C4 have almost the same platform that was easier to take the original physics from C6 or Z06!

Now go online and find real information about the Corvette for example here Chevrolet (USA) Corvette C7 data index

Find the gear ratio, and below we see the aisles these gear ratios, so they need(as in the TDU does not work the main steam need to compensate for speed)

There we see that the 7 transmission 515 km\h in this chapel we need to reflect in TDUPE in the Speed option, but to write we will not 515, and km\h (due to the fact that the game has so strange a parameter as an additional speed that is, if the TDU is said that the car goes 200 or 300 km\h its maximum speed will be 220 or 330 that is 200..300... added 10%) Thus 470+10%=km\h, error 2 km does not play a big role!

2)Now we have to enter the real weight of the car!

This Corvette it is 50: 50, as well inscribe the real coefficient of the vehicle which is 0.3 Cx !!

3)also on the Internet there are tons of gear ratios are not on the website http://www.automobile-catalog.com but you strongly want to do everything correctly. For this you will need a calculator PPC ÐlaаÑчет КПП. КалькулÑтор КПП: передаточные чиÑла Ñ€Ñдов и главных пар I think to learn it is not difficult, and the problem of language can solve a translator plugin for your browser!

The most important parameters are specified, these settings don't have to touch(only in rare exceptions when the 3D body made bad Cx may not correspond with this)

!!!All other parameters are adjusted at their own discretion, and experience! With the proper skill can get even very realistic physics!!!

!!!Do not trust 100% to this website http://www.automobile-catalog.com there are errors for information about the machines!!!

I hope you understand me))

The original

I don't really understand what you on about. I know auto-catalog and every data I've collected looks very true so far. I mean, the datas are the same you can find on manufacturer detailed specs (PDF pages for most of them)

Are you saying that we need to adjust the physics from this website to slightly different numbers to make the car realistic ?

Be aware that Google traduction is a bit rubish to translate from Russian to any other language. Some words are not clear like "nija" or "chapel"

No it is not in this site, it is shown as an example because there are more base (large Unfolded base information about cars)! I want to say that there is no TDU main pair (it works), and because of that the gear ratios are not deducted correctly and to avoid this you need to resort to mathematical calculations!

If I understood it correctly: when you copy the official gear ratios to TDUPE and you set the correct V-max and other data (let's say 250kph), in the game actually the car will have a different top speed because it does not use the given data correctly. And he is right as I have found that out, too.

That's what I've fault. But it looks so weird to me I wasn't so sure to understand that. So confusing

Thanks Qwerty :) gonna try it now

What he is saying is that gear ratios and Top Speed value are a bit broken in TDU.

A clear example is the Corvette, and most cars with an overdrive gear...

Corvette Z06 in TDU have a top speed of 320km/h... or something like it, which is real, although, the real Z06 acheives that speed in 5th gear, because the 6th is just for fuel economy, in TDU that doesn't happen...

Even though TDU have the correct gear ratios for the Z06 (Really long 6th), because the top speed is set to 320, the game understands that the top gear, in the top RPM = 320km/h, when actually, it should be about 500km/h... the top rpm in 5th should be 320. If you set the top speed 500km/h in TDUPE, your Corvette will probably get to 320km/h in 5th gear, but when you shift to 6th, it probably will keep accelerating, resulting in a wrong real speed.

And to be really honest, i don't think you will be able to fix the overdrive gear with simple mathematics... if you could make a video...

Right, I had a good run with your physics in both normal and Hardcore mod.

I'm gonna be very honest and really don't take me wrong of what I'm gonna say.

I've done an acceleration test and the best I've managed for a 0 to 60 MPH is 4.61. The real C7 can achieve that in 3.9sec. The other problem of that bad acceleration is I couldn't reach the top speed, I've managed max a 290 KM/H in 5th gear. I've got a Logitech G27 so I had to use automatic gearbox setting ingame because my Logitech gear shift have only 6 speed instead of 7.

About the Handling, I've tested the car on Oahu Raceway, You said the Corvette have a 50:50 weight balance, I felt too much understeer in both Normal and HC mode. The car can oversteer but you have to move frankly the wheel to transfer the mass of the car to loose grip. A standard original Jaguar XKR Coupe (TDU original Physics) can oversteer better than that.

I've checked also your work in TDUPE, gear ratios + Final Drive Ratios are all correct but the torque is wrong. You've put 543Nm at 4400rpm and the real car have 631Nm at 4600. Engine displacement too is wrong: Your value: 5967 cm3 and the real value is 6162 cm3. You've also tick "turbocharged" but the C7 Vette is Naturally Aspirated....

But you know, everyone have it's own driving style and like to set up physics they like. When I watch a review about the Corvette C7 (I've watched lots of them on different Youtube car review channels), Every people who tested the real Corvette says the car have tons of grip, good acceleration, Good balance Blablabla and You like me wants to simulate the same in the game. TDU is not a realistic sim with realistic overall physics but it's not extremely bad, it's better than most of the arcade games. So my point is no one will never be able to recreate perfect physics for any car. The best way to be close is to drive the real car and/or be part of the development of the real car.

Well, what i know about Corvettes is that they have a really tricky handling... they oversteer quite easily if you accelerate, although, under braking and while you are off the gas, they suffer from massive understeer.

Basically what you have to do is brake, and give the right amount of gas to loose that rear out, but not enough to spin or to get much speed and end up oversteering because you're too fast.

At least that's what i've always felt on Gran Turismo.

It's exactly that Milli ! But the C7 is as Top Gear said is the first American car to be able to handle properly  Gran Turismo is yea the best for have a felling of the car and the cheapest way for poor petrolheads we are

No really, during my test on TDU I was hard on the pedal and what I could feel on a small corner is continuous understeer and no power from the rear wheels to make it oversteer. I really had to move the wheel very hard to move the masses of the car and loose grip. Nothing like a real Corvette.

Friend about the controllability I wrote above "All other parameters are set at their discretion, and experience!". So it's all subjective and can be customized as much as you want I just pointed out the main parameters which are responsible for the correct acceleration, but you mentioned 631nm 4600 don't play here, not some role because they do not work as main channel , where you can write anything and the game will ignore anyway! Also speaking about realistic physics not talking about a full-fledged simulation as Assetta cors, GT5-6..... this is just a re-creation of the plausibility of the faster cars in the game which was lost Edem Games when creating this game, so I am brand new point of view within physics!

Today I noticed one strange fact that physics online Yandex.Disk is different from offline Yandex.Disk, what is that I don't know yet!

In General it again some bug of the game and that is not needed just to buy this Chevrolet !!
