I would like to get into TDU2 Modding

Hi there!

I really got into TDU2 this summer and was wondering if any guides for modding the game exist? I am mainly looking into modding my own cars into the game. While most of the cars I would ever want have already been ported over, I wanted to learn about the process so that I could try it on my own. I tried to do some of my own research on modding the game but there doesn't seem to be much information regarding the same.

I am not that new to game modding and I have created quite a few mods for Burnout Paradise (BP) and Need for Speed MW as well. As far as I know, TDU2 requires ZModeler in the modding process as well just like BP and MW. Still, I feel that TDU2 modding might be completely different, so I'm willing to start from scratch again!.

I hope some of you experienced modders can guide me in the right direction, and I look forward to creating mods for this community!

Yea, I have the most experience with Zmodeler 2 as well. (The geomtery.bin exporter for BP and MW hasn't been updated for Z3d v3 iirc). Also, regarding the tutorials, I would love to use them as a basis for learning modding in this game. But, I guess it would be better if you had Minime's permission before uploading it anywhere. I hope he's ok with that...

Meanwhile, is there any other way I could get started?

Thanks for responding so quickly btw.

EDIT: Also, if you have discord, maybe we can continue this discussion there. My discord username is @sullym8#1962

Hey Sullym8,

I'm in the same process, also learning to create my own car mods for TDU2. I am using TDU1 tutorials, they are mostly the same as far as the process in Zmodeler goes. Importing is a little different though.

This is my current issue, maybe you know the answer:

At least you need ZModeler 2, version 3 doesn't support TDU (2) afaik.
I still have the video tutorials by Minime, but I don't know, if he would allow me to reupload them, perhaps here at Turboduck.

I would be very interested in TDU2 modding tutorials!
