This is only for Atari Germany. Not any word as of yet from Atari UK.

The other German TDU Central Site has posted an article explaining that Atari has now officially allowed TDU PC Mods.

Site [in German]: http://tdu.gameprophets.com/news,id377.html

Translated Site into English: http://209.85.135.104/translate_c?hl=en&langpair=de%7Cen&u=http://tdu.gameprophets.com/news,id377.html

There is also in the field of the ever-popular TDU Modding erfreulicheres to report:

After examination by Atari and their lawyers is the modding now officially permitted, but there are some points, mainly legal nature, must be observed.

-- Atari is not responsible for the content of the modifications and points out that the installation of such is not covered by the support. Installation done so on their own responsibility.

-- Atari is not responsible for the consequences of modifications. Each player should pay attention to what he downloads, as well as damaging programs modifications can be camouflaged.

-- The guarantee and warranty for TDU completely forfeited when a modification is installed.

We would also once again pointed out that any modifications not meet these conditions, even in this forum no longer be posted. Such contributions will be removed and the user is blocked. Get advance consultation with the moderation, if you have questions.

Also, on the Official German TDU Forum, a Moderator posted this:

I run it a few times rules of thumb reasonable sense. We Mods keep us from these rules or to extend the sub forum again to close if the operation here is not reasonable.

Wenn sich alle daran halten, gibts auch keinen Ärger

If all this, there is no trouble icon_smile.gif

1.

If no nonsense here online. If you TDU-made modifications to the forum, want to go before ensure that the game with you so clean runs. Should we be caught Mods someone who wilfully damaging modifications provides online, which leads to the question of Auschluss forums operation (Ban).

2.

Your invites you all modifications at their own risk down. Because they do not come directly from Atari, Atari is also can not be held liable.

3.

It is here, despite the official release of Modifkationen no illegal action gedulded. The use or the linking of illegal software also leads to the forums so far as exclusion.

Question for you guys, looking around and checking out some vids on youtube the modding scene is picking up speed very quickly. So would you like a sub-forum at the top for TDU Modding or would you like TDU Modding to be it's own forum under the TDU PC forum on the front page?

Sound mods, car wheel mods, car colour mods (orange enzo with black rims, clk-dtm black with black wheels with a silver rim). Looking at the images above looks like some are working on the ability to convert the actual car models themselves. TDU's future will be prolonged with this and could even bring more people to the game after they see what may be possible.

Remember Atari Germany's stance is whereas they don't mind you posting mods and such, they warn that they will not be responsible for anything that may happen to your game or profile using them and though they don't say 'yes we approve', they don't exactly mind it being there but they aren't looking at it while it's going on, keeping a distance so to speak.

In other words, Atari Germany may be willing to discuss it on their forums, but other regions don't.

The best place for it to be for me would be a sub-section to the TDU PC [http://forum.turboduck.net/forumdisplay.php?f=8] As the Photomode and Videos are. This would be, for me, the best place for a section such as the one you propose :)

Obviously if it's no hastle for you :)

Not to rain on the parade, but by mods, I'm not so sure they mean car mods, as in adding cars, but smaller modifications to alter the game experience. I believe adding cars would take a it step too far, and possibly even allow people to cheat by altering the stats of cars, which is precisely why the release of cars was controlled by Atari when the online portion of the game is such an integral part of the game.

I wouldn't want to be the one caught doing something due to a mistranslation issue. I would much less like to be the one caught with my pants down. This could be disastrous to the community.

So, to clarify, I think what this announcement is saying is they're OK with sound mods, wheel rim mods, colour mods and night-time/fog mode. The minute that people start bringing in new cars that Atari hasn't officially OK'd, that change the game's impact for others, I think that's when problems will arise. It won't matter if they're the same models as on the X-Box, but that introducing them onto the PC version without Atari's consent will cause them to raise a red flag. That's not something the community wants to happen, does it?

Very true smooth, take it with a grain of salt and remember that the anti-cheat measures server side can be updated without warning, however I feel personally that the ability to customise your car and such isn't that big an issue in this matter but as you say creating whole new cars and altering stats and such certainly is which is why I would bet the server would be updated should this start to happen.

Basically it would be best to use any mods along those lines offline only.
