A-Z of test drive unlimited improvements:

AI - some things that these pesky things get totally wrong in any computer game is random spawning, when a title just makes a car appear dead front of you when your travelling at 100mph is wrong and a bus falling from the sky and crushing your prize sportscar is also bad. i dont so much think draw distance is so bad within tdu, though many have complained about this, i think the spawning issue is much more a problem

BUILDINGS - more buildings are required for example places like eden island, waterfalls, beaches, etc you should be able to stop off a building near these places and pay a fee perhaps to view history on them for example if you stopped of at a waterfall you would watch a flyby video of the area showing its relation to being there in real life so for example in real life oahu you stop at the crater it shows a tourist video about it and then rewards the player for visting it and is then ticked off on xbox achievements list when all places have been visited. just for more interactive club style a picture of that location is added to the clubs gallery and even added to a section in your photo album.

CARS - apart from the obvious desire to have more and more, they need to benefit from damage, two options the first being crumple zones, active visual damage, or secondly just some sort of display to show after a big crash etc the cars had it, and you either would lose the car (writeoff) or in the least have to pay to fix it before you can continue driving with it. maybe a FMV showing it being towed then you rejoing the game from a garage after paying the bill ?

DLC - cars are not enough here, lots of people have payed for the dlc car packs in test drive unlimited, but i feel that cars are simply not enough, even more so when you see that most of the new dlc cars are simply just revamped versions of the original content for example the 288 GTO looks like 2 of the dlc packages with very minor extra touches. but due to the way tdu is made what more can you add with regards to dlc, well what about roads and features. for example a dlc pack that contains things like carwashes, etc and finally a pack that contains more roads that only appear when you buy the road pack.

ENVIROMENT - more interaction is required with a lot of test drive, for example theres so many homes in the game which are we all know just a method for storing the cars, but why not make them more interactive, give each house an ability for example depending on which house your in, you gain an ability ranging from being able to view a different hints/tips tutorial or even something more daring like depending on the price of the house, depends on something like a social status rating, and the more propety you own the higher the rating and access to more hints, etc

FUEL - test drive is a lifestyle, you can tell its what the developers had in mind just by watching it much less playing the game, so working fuel tanks and petrol stations are a must in my eyes when you own all the homes and cars and have a 100% completed profile, fuel tanks and purchasing fuel would have a huge impact on crusing events and as ive mentioned before paying to have your car towed in the event of running dry on petrol is a pleasing thought in the least.

GARAGES - these need to be worked out much better, we need the ability to transfer cars to parking slots we wish to have them in and then stay there, i want my fav cars in my fav house at all times, i want the g-class cars in my oldest looking house and i want my convertibles in my beach front propertys. i think the most rewarding touch for this subject would be instead of click a button outside an house would be to drive your car into a garage and then click a once parked up (enter home) that way. automatic opening gates/doors as you approach your home.

HANDLING - it could be me here but after 1year of playing this title into the ground, and using all of the dlc cars i cant help to notice all to ofter that all the cars seem to handle to same, i agree theres slight differences, but the fundementals are always the same, you press the handbrake button in any car and your safe knowing pretty much how the cars will respond, its needs to be different, even if its just a case that each manufacturer handles different and not so much each and every car.

INDICATORS - i know from experience of hosting loads of crusie events and having other players follow me to a location/tuner because they dont yet have it marked on thier maps yets these would be used by everyone, they really are self explantory and would adore to see them added to tdu in some form.

JAIL - i like this idea, no money go to jail, but the construction if it could be built much better, for example theres no punishment for being sent there, i mean 30secs of nothing, make players lose they cars or something, i suppose a good thing to use would be force players to sell a house because players need to be left with at least one car. so forcing them to sell they last home to pay the police fine can still work as they will still have a car to race and rebuy a cheap home. its got to have some punishment to it for sure. maybe even send players to a secret level (advanced driving test course) make them complete one of them before allowing them back on the road.

KINKS - theres a few kinks in test drive unlimited one of the most annoying for me is theres a delivery mission where 98% of the time for no reason i lose a perfect bonus because the road marks me down as hitting something when i havent, its well annoying and these kinks need ironing out please. im sure im not the only one that hates this mission and good quailty control will only help any title and developer alike and should be taken into account without saying.

LIMITS - something has to be done to the max 8player limit per session for any tdu squel, it really is in no way satisfactory for a MOOR racing title, im sure technology limits this in some shape or form, but this said maybe an option based upon users detection of connection speeds can supply a bigger bubble to those who can spare it. at the end of the day maybe a second hidden bubble so that a cruise with 8 players can at least see other online players and chat to them if not lock to them would be a huge welcome to all i think.

MODS - i recently started playing NFS Most wanted, now tbh this title isint my thing, im not into arcade racing and boyracing in the slightest, however i just adore being able to assign spoilers and more so custom paint work to my cars. in the case of test drive unlimited, i dont much feel spoilers on most of the cars within the game fit into the scheme of things, but at the very least more alloy options (separte building to buy rims after showroom purchase) and a few sticker packs would be very welcome. if you wanted to do something really cool make a limit of the lenght of a users profile name and make the cars license plate display that.

NAVIGATION - the gps needs a slight tweek, the first being the ability to move it to another location on the screen would be nice and secondly for it to be able to be adjusted in real game time, so that when cruise events are taking place players can alter the destination without reverting back to the map screen and that simply is not an option as then all cruise players are required to re-sync back to each other and that simply spoils the entire experience.

OBJECTIVES - an more catogerys to the current single player / multi player / exploaration, etc that are required for gaining 100% completion, its the best part of playing test drive unlimited and for most players once these have been obtained the game pretty much becomes a cruise only thing. having more of these can only be a good thing. maybe the point i made in B can be used here.

POLICE - the absence of police presence is truly a kill joy, its like sex with rubber. in sinlge player the fact police cars actually hunt you down and activily seek out ways to stop you really makes a offline profile that bit more challenging, and if they responded to the users speeds, and actions would surely make the game more rewarding.. i dont believe adding them to multiplayer races is a step in the right direction, but multiplayer free ride mode is in desperate need of policing. and i would settle for the same police rules as single player on multi-free ride mode chased only for hitting the police.

QUES - more city traffic, when you enter the main city part i think it should feel different from being on the open country roads and all of a sudden find yourself in traffic jams etc maybe if possible make it happen at 5pm using the console/pc clock so the traffic is there at rush hour and not during off peak hours that would be so cool and tdu is the perfect game for this. maybe expand it to motorways with roadworks etc.

RACES - more racing options would extend the playibilty of test drive unlimited, for example most multiplayer races are simply track based much like all other driving games, but to fit in with the scheme of tdu single player mode they needs to be more cruise based events, perhaps players meet in one of the several hundred car packs until 8-12 players arrive them a random 10min cruise event is choosen and players then compete in a cannonball style race to a set destination which can be obtained by travelling in any direction to an unmarked fnished line (no route planned on gps, just the finish line displayed on the gps, just like a radar is display on speed events) would be a real hit.

SOUND - gran turismo, PGR, but to mention a few benefit from real world engine sounds, and much like handling in test drive unlimited the sounds suffers the same fate, all the cars seem to sound for the most part much like the one you raced yesterday. more intense sound would create a much better immersion into your driving habbits forcing players to respond in a much more competive manner. for all car and bike freaks a perfect sounding engine is just as rewarding as buying the car itself.

TRADE - big improvements required here, the trade system needs to stop auto buying 10million priced cars and only cars that are purchased should be removed from the list, it needs to display whether the cars tuned, milage, how many owners, a brief description, and most of all the ability to sell a dlc car (copyrighted cars) but only can be sold to those whom have already purchased the relevant carpack in the first place, which would not affect the sale of dlc cars to non payers.

USER - more user options, maybe a photo face feature so that i can upload my own face to be used on my ingame character would be good also the official website claimed apparell would be included in dlc and ive not seen any and got loads of clothes tokes left over on my pc account and will be faced with the same issue on my console account shortly. but the icing on the cake for me would to see my face in all of tdus cars, and sat in a 3million house, very nice.

VISUALS - has to be included, every addition to a game title just simply needs to be better looking each and every time, the graphics have to be upgraded, the whole nine yards it would be a crime to see tdu2 though the same eyes, its gotta look different and better. i know theres loads of forum banter about location, but just a totally revamped oahu could have the same impact as a new location.

WEATHER - tdu is in need of dymanic changing weather, all aspects of this including night/day sun/rain affects/handling because tdu is based upon the same island therefore extra tracks as such arent an option weather is the other road to go down to make each tdu experience different im not so sure snow would be needed, but rain and working windscreen wipers/headlights would really add a touch of spice and atmosphere whilst driving.

XTREME MODE - similar to hardcore mode, but instead of achieving the goal of increased feel via a steering wheel, its more based upon increasing the possibility of wheel spin and skid. therefore creating a sorta drifting aid, and supports pads and keyboards as well as the steering wheels. i think this would go down quite well with alot of tdu users.

y - still thinking

z - still thinking

come on folks lets hear your A-Z of improvements or maybe just help me out with X, Y, Z. the rules are they have to be valid points and in A-Z format. make no mistake the last three are hard, the aim of taking part is to see what you want as a tdu player and how realistic you feel about getting it also to try and convince the developers to delay tdu2 until we have what we want ;LMAO

i have voted despite it being my wishlist as realistic as possible and what i believe would be a priority for the developers based upon tdu1 and what i think would be possible based upon the fact production of tdu2 is probably for the most part already done which comes in at 34.8%

had to post as a new tdu2 thread for the poll purpose - sorry !!!

I'm going to move this to General TDU as then everyone can chime in but note any specific PC features list as PC next to your suggestion. Thanks!

Good list Razor, a lot of good things their. I've been creating my own A-Z for a wee while now and even was considering a video to show certain things also.

That is an exhaustive list! There are many things which i would like to see on TDU2.

Quit wasting time, i wanna read your A-Z of ideas... PLEASE!!!

How about Y= You got mail - an in game messaging system.

XBOX360 user already got this built into the system, but i do miss the ability to post a line of text whilst ingame that all players in your bubble see. however you can send a message via the built in method.

Thanks, Good idea...

Again fella when your A-Z is done post it up, let me read...

Wow, huge list there, lets hope some of it makes it's way into TDU 2 :D

im secretly hoping it all appears in tdu2, which reminds me... which negative soul voted 0-10%

Nice list, personally i think only 20-30% of ideas will go through

yea thats my predication area tbh, mainly because i would picture most of the source code was already done a while back myself.

I miss the online police (though I can normally keep it below 1.5 badges, I just assumed they were too busy chasing the rest of you guys :D ) too but perhaps a better implementation of the club house and player-player interaction. A bulletin board at the club house to help organize events. A way of communicating from your house (you do have that snazzy cell while relaxing on the couch ;) ) or even occupied seats when entering the club house.

I like your list Razor. If not damage modelling then at least repair costs.

A bulletin board at the club house to help organize events

well when me and desrat were planning the tdu-toolkit (version2) we have already paid for some software which would make TDU Club planner V2.0 110% more suitable to the quote above. The main goal behind that software would be a piece of software which would make it possible for users to instantly contact others for a race in realtime...

However despite the fact that the fee needed for that software has already been paid for by myself and desrat, i no longer wish to be involved in the next toolkit, and desrat has recently made it clear he has no intentions of buying TDU2 (he only played the first one because i got him the game as a gift) i dont think the new club planner will appear.

so in light of that i hope your right because online interaction is without a doubt one of test drives biggest downfalls, i really believe that eden games never intended to make tdu as a cruising style game, but more of a racer as its title "racing re-invented" would suggest. i believe the community figured that TDU suffered from any serious online interaction and invented cruise events to compenstate for that...

so fingers crossed, you will be right and online aspect of TDU2 will be better enhanced and most of all work !!!

i wish all the houses didnt look the same its annoying u want a nice house but u got like 5 styles and u can buy the same house for 1.9m and another be like 2.5m of the same house its crazy.

do you know something, ive never looked at this subject like that and your right... you can buy the same house cheaper and they is no reason why you shouldnt. theres only 2 explainations

1) the games developers couldnt be bothered

2) they didnt think anybody would notice

harsh words, but after a few mins thinkng i cant think of any other reason why ???

If you can have more then one for a letter, then i've got another one for

C - Collision Paramters

I'm sick of the game claiming that i've hit a car or a copper when i'm about 5 yards or even years away...it's got me too many fines and its stupid! But bikes, thats a whole different story...ever been racing on a bike and just gently clipped the side of a van yet the game reset you? yep, i have...ever been turning and your wheel just slip off the kurb, yet you've been reset? some for me...ever been doing 210MPH and jumped off a hill and practically gone through the windscreen of a car, bounced off and landed on the road, without resetting? same with me...

If you didn't get it from the above paragraph, SORT OUT THE COLLISION PARAMETERS!!!

I hope a new police system is like the Driver series (only ever played driver 1 though...)

If i remember correctly, Police in that game were mental

wrong side of the road, you got a chase, stupid speed, you got a chase, a little tap to a police car or a traffic car in the presence of a police car, you got a chase, repeatadly beeping horn at policecar, chase. and it was all based on teh concept of if the cop could see you

For TDU2, i'd have one for 'F'

Fictional Location

I was playing GTA: San Andreas the other day, and noticed that although being smaller than TDU in landmass, It feels less tedious going all the way around the map. There's loads of different kinds of terrain, and although being fictional, it can feel more realistic than TDU for enviroment, what with the better use of elevation in city areas, less repetitive scenery, different kinds of road (main roads, highways, dirt tracks, runways, Back alleys) Land features (railways and rivers) and in general, the whole map is more accessible (most mountains can be driven up in anything as underpowered as a golf kart) wheras in TDU huge sections of the map are just terrain to look at. Also, GTA:SA has a pretty good police system, better than TDU's. Oh, and basic weather. All on a PS2

Now this is a whole generation later, so it could theoretically be the same size but so realistic looking your eyes would explode, and remember, GTA:SA could do this on old hardware, and model pedestrians, and sort the story, and accomodate for planes, and boats, and trains, and then theres the whole off the road section with guns, health, relationships.

Imagine GTA:SA but only worrying about the roads. No developer focus on Character, Weapons, Planes/Boats etc., Story, OTT police system involving Tanks, Building interiors.

Now add the extra power that the current gen of consoles provides.

Alternatively, look at GTA IV, a packed metropolitan enviroment, almost the size of SanAndreas's map. Now, TDU wouldnt need this style enviroment, frankly, GTA IV sucks as a race enviroment. Who needs such a vertical enviroment when you are stuck at road level? Also hell of a lot of building interiors are rendered (they can go too). But look at the map, It's huge.

The traffic in GTA IV is exactly what TDU needs, as is the weather. the police system seems about right for TDU aswell, possibly toned down though, no police with guns to keep it as 'E'. GTA IV can do all of these simultaneously, and more. Even with 16 people doing it at the same time. Surely TDU2 could do this with ease?
