  1. When I said pre-2010 I had old NFS games and GTR2 in mind. Hardly anything amazing graphics wise. An old nVidia 460 card probably will outperform the latest and greatest Intel onboard graphics when it comes to gaming. And the price can't be that bad. Have you ever watched Scrapyard Wars on Youtube?
  2. Nothing will compete with escaping from a police chase by going offroad between trees to emerge on some other road nowhere near Waikiki and not having a clue where I was.
  3. So I found myself in a Samsung store in Melbourne today, where they had a Gear VR on demo next to their Galaxy S7's (get a free Gear VR with S7 purchase before June 30 btw) The screen was a little blurry (not focussed right) and I think someone else may have left a little hair product in one spot of the screen. My thoughts: The screen was VERY dotty. Much more than I expected. I sure hope the Rift is MUCH better. The demo consisted of various short scenes that suddenly switched. Despite standing I had no problem looking around as 'I' skied down a massive mountain, or surfed on a large wave. I even didn't have anywhere near the amounts of problems standing still for the rollercoaster scene compared to other clips, although it was the only scene where my heart sank a little and I had to brace my footing in advance - similar to if you stand in a moving train). The movie theatre scene was pretty good, as was the one where I appeared to have a private concert with Bono. While not perfectly adjusted, the front still seemed a little too heavy. I didn't find myself looking around that much in the moving scenes - basically just looking where 'I' was going, so the 360 aspect was a little lost on me, although practically flawless - no stitching issues. I wouldn't recommend buying one though. Maybe wait for version 2. I had no problem adapting - it feels a little like poking your head through a hole in the wall where the scenery is completely different. Standing in the noisy store certainly didn't give me any chance to feel fully immersed however. I'll be back with more feedback with the Rift whenever it arrives, expecting a better experience with the improved hardware and interactive content. I'm pretty sure VR is here to stay, much like 3D TVs.
  4. Downloading. For such little content I'm very surprised to see it weigh in at 18GB. That's much the same as The Crew.
  5. RAM on a video card stopped being most important quite a few years ago. tbh the only time it's really useful is if you mod a game with much larger texture files. 4GB is plenty for now.
  6. Let's not restrict potential future upgrade plans for the sake of what is usually only ~$20. The brand/quality is probably more important than the number. Especially if you care about noise. I went from an old $400 1200w Gold PSU (2012) to an 800W Platinum one last year to reduce the 'jet effect'. Rave reviews said this thing would be near silent, but well I'm going to have to watercool my GPU to find out if that's true. I wouldn't mind W/C'ing my next build and getting a fanless PSU but then they wouldn't have quite enough power to deal with the pumps.
  7. Might be a good time to promote the tduck PC Benchmarking Thead | turboduck forum again to see what hardware conclusions we can draw
  8. Checked online for second hand 980 Ti's just in case? 970 is still good though. Besides the CPU (unsure of it's modern gaming performance - check for benchmarks) the other specs are good. No need for more than 16GB of RAM when gaming. Keep in mind that a brand new CPU will mean DDR4 RAM.
  9. I think because the aerodynamics and steering rack are tuned to go left as fast as possible, evasive actions (which will require some sort of right turn) will cause major instability issues anyway, especially when you factor in the aero effects of all the other surrounding cars.
  10. There seems to be a fair bit of strange CPU recommendations lately. Perhaps it's either some sort of partnership with Intel or just inability to go far back enough to test. Remember that in the last few years improvements have been pretty small - around 10%. Some are still comfortable gaming on the 2500K. While I certainly have room for improvement with my 3750K I don't feel like it's causing any major performance bottlenecks on my system (that's with a Titan X graphics card too, btw). Maybe VR will change that, where high FPS is more critical.
  11. I recently hit the subscribe button on Mighty Car Mods, it's enough of a car fix while certain TV shows are not airing. Also have been watching Season 2 of TopGear UK again. Given how good he was in pod racers I would have expected Darth Vader to be the fastest Master of the Universe around the TG test track.
  12. It's an honor to have you here, Scotty from Scotland. Hopefully you bring more power with you.
  13. It's a very quiet road, evidenced by it's width and lack of painted lines. I didn't want to be the one to day, but yes I also thought the views were somewhat reminiscent of the UK. Most road enthusiasts normally head north into the forest; many may be unaware of this road.

  15. I launched the PS4 version of pCARS for the first time since preordering it to see how well it works with the 'unsupported' wheel (well enough) to see if it's worth joining one of the ROOZ leagues. Since I've got a tin-top career mode started on PC I decided to start with Formula Rookie on the PS4 (that said you can have multiple career modes on the same profile anyway).
  16. Have you tried using the 3 different gamepad handling modes? i.e. mode 1/2/3 (or A/B/C, I forgot). Basically the idea is these alter the way the gamepad feels to different tastes, since there is no perfect standard that 100% of players prefer.
  17. Funny, those were the exact two editions I was thinking of.. oh well.
  18. Well that came out of nowhere on my radar. Do we dare to imagine that that it has decent physics, handling, amazing open world, and cockpits with VR support to finish off a dream come true? Uhh, maybe not, assuming this is the opposite of enjoy a leisurely cruise - sounds like a twitchy NFS gamepad game from a few years back. Speed Elixir OFFICIAL website of Speed Elixir Game
  19. No doubt about it, excellent video. My CV1 is scheduled to ship end of June.
  20. I purchased some Audi R8 ignition coils with adapter for the 1.4 TSI to get more bang but I'm now thinking it might be better to try and sell my car untuned and save these for its replacement.
  21. So now's the time to spam them with TDU3 requests, right?
  22. This one is tempting, but I think I'll still wait for a low-km well specced Rising Blue Golf R for around the 30k mark. 2009 Volkswagen Golf GTI VI Auto MY10
  23. Not sure, but if I recall correctly, the quickest way to make money was to repeat on of the Speed missions that pays $75k and only takes around 15 seconds to complete - it was south-east.
