My Capri

So here's how the sotry goes -

I have always loved Capris, and loved the opportunity to own one, so me and my Dad were halfway through purchasing one before he died in 2001, the day before my 10th Birthday. RIP old man.

Anyway, fast worward to Tuesday night (29th April)... Was generally browsing, and came across a 1986 Capri in the next town. Had a look though the images, looked a bit worse for wear, but arranged a viewing anyway.

Now fast forward to tonight, There I am standing next to this beautiful, long car. Instant love it really was. Needs a fair bit of work, new battery, exhaust, rust spots fixed etc. I offered him £400 on the spot for it, and we eventually agreed on £450. So it's mine now!

I'll be trailering it home in the next few weeks, so until then, you've only got these pictures. IT's not the fact that it's old, I love them, and how many 17 year old UK men can you say you know who own their first car outright with no financial help - I dont know any!

So ill be going up soon for another look at it, hand over the dosh and complete the deal.

I'm in love :D

Will get better pictures for you on Monday - but here it is.

Any questions, just fire away!

Thats the best bit! Staight off a 2.8 Injection, along with the interior.

Do you really like them?:oook:

In my eyes it makes the car boring! With a set of more racier wheels it would look better i believe.

I take it that's a 1.6? I love Capri's too, and if i don't get my Sierra XR4i for a first car i'll get a 1.6 Capri. My dad used to have one bored out to 3.0 litres and his friend used to have a Tickford Capri. That is beautiful though, and will look even better when work has been done to it :D.

EDIT: I love those wheels to, i don't think you should change them at all :D.

:)

Already started purchasing bits for it.. for anyone who works at bodyshop, I've bought some Farecla G3 and G10, and some 3M Finesse-It.

For those folk who dont, they are basically a cutting compuind, much better than T-Cut. That should bright the paint right back up to scratch.

And this is that (hopefully) it will be like next year. For it to look like this it would need -

Respray

Indicator light detangoed

Debadged

Anthracite wheel powdercoat

Window Tint

I reckon I could pull it off for about a Grand since I can do the respray myself at work.

not sure on them colour wheels with the body colour you got planned, think you should go with either bright white ( bugger to keep clean) or chrome ( bugger to keep shiny)

White looks a bit naff, just dosent blend. I think the Anthracite looks nice but you never know:)

I like it :D

the capri is a beauty, although if you were 10 in 2001 that means your 17 (my age) and the insurance will be plain manic :s

im on motorbikes for now (my 'ped gets me to and from college, and costs £130 a year to insure :D), but when i reach about 19/20 i plan on getting a VW scirrocco

  • 2 months later...

Wow.. it's been a while!

SHe's home.. finally.. Bit of a struggle but there we go. Put a new battery and she turned over first time - Fantastic. Then instantly remembered it had a broken exhaust - god it is LOUD!

So various bits have been collecting up.. These include -

16 inch Ford Escort Cosworth wheels

Alpine CD Player with Alpine speakers

And i just won an auction on eBay for 5 original Ford panels - Known as the X-Pack kit. Not a bodykit as such... more a wide arched look.

Looks like this now -

A bit of dosh thrown about here and there and this is how she will look later this year.

Budgeting quite a bit for this... Would rather not release the figures here but it's going to be a bit more than originally anticipated, but god it is worth it.

Cheers guys. Also forgot to say I got a new exhaust too - just an original one for now to get it through an MOT.

KTF, I'm the same - Not a clue where to start ! For inspiration, crawl through many Owners club forums - thats where I look and think "Hmm, thats quite good, would like that on mine" and build up a list of bits.

And eBay is god.

What car do you have?
