  1. Don't know how long this will last but I'll give it a shot. Right now I have about 18 models cars/trucks that I have put together. I started this hobby about 2 or 3 years ago. Now I have put these vehicles together when I had my NFSU2 days and yes, they are riced out. Now I'm starting to redo these models and make them look better (hopefully). I'll be posting pics and perhaps updates of my progress. It's just like working on a real car in terms of custom bodywork and such. EDIT: Also, I've been collecting actual car parts here and there. If they need some fixing I'll post them here. Here is my 1st car to restore, I forgot to take a picture of what it looked like before but this is what it really looked like, but instead of orange its this dark green And the rim spokes were black: -- OLD IMAGE REMOVED (imageshack) -- Oh and also, I wanted to have a split hood like they had in NFSU2, so I had cut the hood/bonnet in half down the middle. Well that failed so I glued it back together and with a bit of cardboard pieces and a lot of body filler, I hid the cut with a roof scoop. It warped the hood and made it curl and I said whatever lol. Ok, here is the progress I made so far: This was what I had did to the interior... Also the previous wheels are on the left and the messed up hood underneath the body. I had to use a lighter to heat up the hood and twist it at many places to get the contours right and to make it fit properly.

  3. Hi im new btw, anyway i have gotten into this whole TDU modding scene just recently and its been really great! However, i think it's still lame to have all the names in the cars. I tried using teh name/brand tools with the TDU modding tools given but that didn't do anything (no change). I used the Performance editor to find that most of the brands were there (yay). But it causes crash! :(. Mostly the main thing i want to do is change something like "Lotus Elise R" to "Mini Cooper S" without effecting all the other cars. I tried manually opening up the data base, however, none of my save changes appear on the "change manufacturer" in TDU Vehicle manager. How would it be possible, without the game crashing, to do custom names?

  5. I decided to make this tutorial since installing a car is very simple thing once you do it by yourself. People have asked many times from me how to do it. Remember, modding your game might affect to multiplayer functionality. 1. Download SparkIV » This works with v1.0.0.4 2. Use WinRAR software to extract package » Homepage 3. Extract SparkIV directory anywhere you want 4. Open SparkIV 5. Press Browse 6. Scroll down the list and then choose Models » cdimages » Vehicles.img 7. Choose the car you want Sites: » www.gta4mods.com » www.gtainside.com » www.gta-expert.com » www.gta-modding.it » gta-worldmods.t-n-network.de 8. Download it and extract package same way like you did with SparkIV package 9. This might be the best moment to make backup files from the car that you are about to replace. You can do it in SparkIV, simply choose both files (.wtd and .wft), then we’ll choose “Export” function. After that save files to anywhere you want. 10. After backup files, let’s replace them with new ones. Choose “Import” and open both new files. 11. After that press “Save” 12. Close SparkIV. After that you can replace new handling, vehicle and carcols (Car colors) “values” that possibly came with the new car, there always isn't a custom values made for the new car. This isn’t required to do but might give you better experince in the game. 13. Replacing those values is simple and it happens by using notepad. You can find those text files from the game folder » \common\data. However, before opening them, choose all those three text files I mentioned earlier (step 13) and open their properties by right mouse button, then remove read-only check and apply changes. This needs to be done only once. 14. After that you can keep editing those text files. For example, let's edit handling value which is ofcourse located at handling.dat file. 15. Open it and search for the car name that you have replaced with some new car 16. Copy and paste new line from the car readme file. After that save it. Repeat this method with vehicle.ide and carcols.dat DO NOT REMOVE ANY SPACE BETWEEN NUMBERS OR CHARACTERS! DON'T MAKE ANY NEW SPACES EITHER. -- OLD IMAGE REMOVED (imageshack) -- Other useful things: ASI Loader, loads .asi scripts - http://alexander.sannybuilder.com/Files/IVAsiLoader.rar Filecheckfix, this sort of makes game think that you have original files - http://alexander.sannybuilder.com/Files/IV.FileCheckFix.rar ^ Place dsound.dll and filecheckfix.asi to game directory. Hopefully that was helpful guide and you understood my english :lol: Ask if you need any help.

(for now) Note: Most infos are already given in this forum or in the readme-files (included in the downloads) Backups: Please backup your files, before experimenting with mods. (Savegame & TDU-files) You'll find your savegame in "my documents"\Test Drive Unlimited\ Your database-files are located in "Your destination":\Atari\Test Drive Unlimited\Euro\Bnk\database\ It's your choice: Backup your complete TDU folder or individual subfolders. For more locations, have a look below. (Manual installation -- Q: Where should I place the mod-files?) Troubleshooting: First of all: Q: I want to use mods, but each time TDU crashes. - What should I do? A: First, you need Djey's Magic bnk1.map - find it here - please scroll down. Manual installation: Q: Where should I place the mod-files? A: "Your destination":\Atari\Test Drive Unlimited\Euro\Bnk\... ...Sound\Vehicules\ <-- Sounds ...FrontEnd\HiRes\Gauges\ <-- Gauges ...Vehicules\ <-- Cars ...Vehicules\Rim\manufacturer\ <-- Rims Destinations may vary ... Have a look into your TDU-directory it is not hard. Create backups before experiment! Q: Mod comes with "auto-installer" - Can I manually install the mod? A: Yes you can - search for "patchs"-folder, this contains all the important files. Note: Some installer come with camswap or other changes, so it can lead to problems. Q: Mod is based on RS4 - can i replace the A6? A: You can - just rename "RS4"-bnks to "A6_V8" and paste it on the right places. Note: Think of things, like cam-position - this can lead to problems. Automatic installation: Q: There is a .exe in the download, called "ModandPlay" or "Modname" - What is it/what is an "auto-installer"? A: "Auto-installer" is coded by Djey. - Modders can create scripts for it, that install the mod with all required files. Just double-click the .exe, click the arrow, ceck your TDU-path/choice your language and click install - have fun With this file, you can also uninstall the mod. Note: "auto-installer" creates backups of the bnk-files - BUT if you have already pasted a mod to this vehicle-slot, it can only backup the current files. Q: This installer doesn't work / bring the game to crash. What's wrong? A: Please contact the modder and attach your ModandPlay.log files. You will find it below the installer, after the Installation. And then, if it's needed, the incriminated modder will have to work with Djey to improve the tools / fix an issue. Q: I have used physics-installer - Every time I play online, i get an error message/ i be kicked from the server. What's wrong? A: In most cases you have to give up the physics, or play offline. For a better understanding, read Dredgy's guide. When the physics are hard modified, you can not play online. Miscellaneous settings: Q: The cockpit-view is not working. - What's wrong? A: You have to do a "cam-swap" - in top of the most mod-threads, a camswap is listed - if not, ask in the thread. Download and use Djey's Modding Tools to do the cam-swap in vehicle-manager. It is an easy to use program - if you do not work out how, you can look in the modding-tools-thread. - Most questions are answered. Do not forget to back up yor database files! Q: Position of the seatbelts/driver looks strange - What's wrong? A: You have to do a "ik-swap" - it is the same as above. More info: Q:Why does my game FPS go lower then average? A:When installing mods, each car has a different poly count. This effects drawing distances in order for the car to render within the game's graphics engine. The higher the poly count is, the more chance there is of lag or an fps drop occurring when playing. Sometimes, having higher system specs than the game recommends usually works out better when playing the game. Q: I installed my new Bmw - Can my friends see it in online-mode? A: NO - They see the car, that they have installed on this vehicle-slot, on their HDD. Q: Can we get "custom-physics" for our Bmws or Bugattis? A: Yes you can, but in most cases only for offline use ... some mods already come with "physics-installer". You can do your own physics with Dredgy's TDUPE, but read the thread in detail! Q: Some mods do not replace any car. - Can I do it myself/Why can not provide all modders this feature? A: TDU won't allow more than 2 more 'new' vehicles at the time. The reason is you can't add files - you can only replace existing files in TDU folder. Detailed information for programmers or people with such skills: Major part of the protect-system, is the bnk1.map file. If someone achieves one day to allow TDU to start without loading this file, he'll bring the solution everyone is waiting. If you feel adressed, feel free to post here, or contact Djey. - HELP is welcome. Q: How can I create my own car-mods? A: Just search - program-lists/basic-tutorials/guides are available in many forums and different languages.   7. Hi, I recently noticed another bug on my game, not all traffic car models, one in particular, can't specify yet, well yeah, I can see through them when I get close. It's not normal right? when others don't. I'm using the legal Version of the game with the latest patch 1.66A. Using some mods Car: 2Fast2Furious Skyline, Sound: Brake and Skyline engine sound.   10. Hi, I've made a model of a Lada Samara, made as a race car. Its based on a VAZ 2108 model by http://www.drive3dautos.com / G-cars / Bogdach from 3d warehouse (model site) . Its made in Sketchup 7. The model is complete with engine, (spartan) interior and driver (aid to place TDU driver). Work needed: conversion work (lights, reflections etc.) The model has few "image textures", mostly just colors, but has a transparent mesh texture, dont know if this will work in TDU... I guess it would replace the Saleen S7 or McLaren F1 LM...

(Ok, these three are based on the same car anyway but i'm just proving a point!)   17. you guessed it by the title, cars that we're failiures from the start and the ones that were winners from the start, 1 of each per post and please do not flame. i'll do one...some think of this as a good car...i say its a failiure. the Mercedez Benz CLK-GTR simply put the CLK-GTR is a rip off, at over £1,000,000 it cant even do 200 MP/H, its Fugly and its not exactly worth the money Now for my winner the '95 Mclaren F1 LM Now, for the price of the road going versions, its a bargain at well under £400,000 being able to do 225MP/H although it has no audio system and its loudness means a headset is needed, it is an amazing car for the year and price.
