My Computer Exploded...

My computer literally blew up on me and I won't be modding for a while, or playing Test Drive Unlimited. I was playing GTA4 and all of a sudden I heard almost like a gunshot come from my computer and everything went dark. Then that was followed by a dreadful smell so I had to unplug it. Now an 512 VRAM Nvidia 9500GT graphics card computer with a 600 watt power supply sits on my bedroom floor in pieces and will be out of commission for the new year :ill:. I'm currently getting a new power supply for it as that is what I hope got fried. If its anything more, such as the motherboard, then I probably won't be modding anymore as I can't afford a new computer at the moment :sulk:

Holy crap! It blew up? How? I also recently blew my PSU, but the PC just stopped working, nothing like a bang.. I hope it's just the PSU.. But as Diablo said, we'll be here.. ;)

I blew my PSU a few months ago and it did the same thing. Not really a bang, but a loud pop and a burning smell. Hopefully it's just the PSU that's blown; that's all it was on mine (luckily).

How many watts was yours? Mine had 600 which is a lot. So maybe that explains why it was so loud.

Same, 600W. It wasn't TOO loud, but it was a strong smell.

My old MB got fried and heres how it went:

 

For like a few months, the CPU fan didn't turn on at all, we tried the spare cpu fan, nothing, the MB nearly SHORTED OUT on the pc case, so we replaced the motherboard, (its got an inner copper layer [2 oz]) and new cpu fan, and it runs much more cleaner than it did a few months ago. Took me a while to notice this problem which is an epic fail..
