Anyone who thinks pick-ups aren't "high-life" enough are sadly mistaken.

The Ford F-450 King Ranch costs upwards of $60,000 and has a 6.5 L V-8.

The GMC Topkick/Chevy Kodiak costs up to $80,000.

Not all pick-ups are for blue-collar construction workers. They are actually incredibly expensive.

Just making something expensive doesn't automatically qualify it as High-Life. High Life has to do with a combination of having too much money and stuff that belongs to the most desirable stuff you can find on this planet. As much as you want to, pick-ups aren't as desirable as high-end exotic sportscars.

actually, that does depend on the region one lives in. in the states, and particularly states such as texas, montana, or wyoming where there is lots of land and land rich people, a truck such as the f-450 King Ranch is way more preferred than a supercar. not saying they dont have them, but the truck will get FAR more use than the car.

and if the driver/owner is a multi-millionaire and enjoys his truck, would that qualify as his version of the High Life?

I agree 100%, and I am from Texas and if i was a millionaire the first thing I'd do would be to blow $50,000 on a King Ranch then another $4000 on a lift kit. The High Life is about blowing money on ridiculous things just because you can. No one needs a $50,000 truck, a cheaper one would work, but someone living the highlife would buy the King Ranch package because they can.

Yet it's not the stereotypical view on High Life people, and I believe that's what TDU2 is aiming at. No matter how High Life is considered in specific regions, the general view consists of what TDU2 sofar has shown. No pick-up's in that image either.

among the 208 cars supposedly in the game how many have we actually seen in trailers?10-20? in other words, they have not shown us jack squat yet.

if they want to include off road vehicles, trucks are far more off road worthy than some overpriced vehicle like the Q7, Cayenne,or the Range Rover.

(yes, the rover has an excellent 4wd system,i know)

those suv's i mentioned are not "off road" vehicles. they are dirt road vehicles. there is a difference. a person in a truck will tackle a steep hill that has rocks sticking out on the sides, or a mud pit, or go into a swampy area. people in luxury suv's cringe at the very thought of getting their suv muddy, maybe even dented. not stereotyping anyone here,

just telling what i have seen down in Moab,Utah during the summer.

Well, i would disagree, most off road capible trucks are usally modifilied, stock they would really be that much better off road then something like a range rover or a hummer h2,the drivers would just be more reckless seeing how they have a lot less to break.

Eh, I'm not too bothered.

It's only a game, I'll probably end up giving most cars a bit of stick off-road even if they're super-cars.

I did it in TDU1 and I'll do the same in TDU2. It doesn't matter if it has four wheel drive or rear wheel drive, it's going off road.

There is MANY awesome trucks and SUV's people wont ever get to see or drive in there lifetime that I'd love to see included in this game.

Heck I'd like to see Atari drop the entire "high life" hooky and just include everything that would make a fantastic online automotive gaming community. Sure include the exotics but start from entry level cars like a 86 Ford escort or whatever. lol

I for one don't care about "space" if you lack space for the epic game then buy a new hard drive and upgrade your stuff...Its cheap now no excuses.

I have to disagree, if you look at a Cayenne or Q7, they still have less ground clearance than a lot of trucks. Any Ford with an FX4 package or any Chevy Z71 come stock pretty high. PLus, trucks (especially diesels) have a lot more power to climb hills and such.

And not to mention..what looks better covered in mud, a Cayenne or a Silverado?

Actually the 2010 ford f-150 has 8.3 inches of ground clearance, while the cayenne has 8.5 inches of ground clearance(10.7 with air suspension). Also diesels produce more torque not power, but although HD diesel trucks produce more torque they weight alot more.

I don't see anything wrong with having pick ups, though I'm not particularly chasing them myself. I personally don't have a need for everything to be all exotic and such, nothing wrong with a bit of variety here and there, and even so I bet plenty of rich people buy random vehicles like dirt bikes and pick ups as toys to play about in the masses of land they own.
