Guess I should post pictures of the evil wheels. They're here to stay permanently.

I was awaiting an update to this thread :p

I saw your update about these wheels on Pug306.net. The wheels look good, gone off the Swallows now?

You'll have to explain to me how to re-spray wheels correctly at some point. Tread's getting low on mine so I'll probably just have the tyres stripped off and have a bash at making a hash of some of my 'clones.

Well, for mine I went over them with a wire brush and then some sandpaper, then sprayed them with 6 coats of grey primer, lightly sanding every couple of coats. Then I did 6 coats of colour and 6 coats of lacquer. They're not the best looking wheels on the planet, if you look really close you can see imperfections in the surface, but that's due to how knackered they were before! With them on the car and in such a dark colour you don't notice the tiny imperfections though. They look almost military in the grey though, lol.

Snow is annoying, really struggling to get the power down. I'm basically driving around on half throttle not using the turbo whatsoever, maybe hitting 5psi of boost at the most. If I floor it even in 3rd the front end starts snaking about.

IMO The wheels like terrible. But hey if you like them, To each his own lol. I don't have to drive it, you do, to me they look like your hub caps fell off,and you just didn't bother to buy new ones.

That's probably what a lot of people think of them, lol.

My tastes definitely are 'different'.

How could I describe it... hmm. Anti-bling.:D

For example, in TDU2 I'm sooooo going to have a matte black old school muscle car with skulls on the doors.

Lol, thanks for that. They don't look too bad at all really. I think I'll have to get the filler out on mine because of some of the (large) chunks missing out of them. Don't really know what I'll do with them yet, I was originally going to sell them but now I kind of want to keep a rough set for use in the Winter and put some winter tyres on them. Keep the best ones for the Summer.

You know, I think the exact same way. Except I tend towards old BMW's and LS engines (E24 635 CSi + LS1 from a '99 Camaro = for me). Though I also find the idea of a CR-Z with a mid-mounted LS engine (or a high-revving Bimmer engine) highly appealing! :D

If you guys think that's wierd I guess I'm insane in dumping (well I won't get into the deets) but $50k+ worth of stuff our 1993 Chrysler Town & Country into a modern luxury cruiser and make it handle and perform as a sports sedan :p.

Now that would be properly awesome :p

Oi! Stop the thread hi-jacking!

Back on-topic, clean car!

I also touched up a couple of chips in the paint on the wheels, and fitted jubilee clips to either end of my boost gauge hose to try and eliminate leaks.

Maybe I'll get a photo of it with my new bike carrier on it. It mounts to the towbar and adds at least an extra 3 feet to the length of the car. It even has its own lights and numberplate.

As promised, pics of the bike rack!

I went to Kirkhill forest, just outside Aberdeen this morning. The car park was still sheet ice. A couple of tracks were passable on the bike, but I didn't hang around long, it was pretty rubbish.

Also, I now have wind deflectors. Yay!

I love the new bike rack though, it's so solid. The car doesn't even notice that it's on there, and I can just drive like normal. I was doing 70mph+ and the bike was wobbling just a tiny little bit!

The rack looks heavier than it is, it's only 12kg.

The bike is lighter than it was, as I've just re-built it on a new, lighter frame yesterday. A frame I got for my birthday on Saturday.

Actually, here's a couple of pics of the new bike:

This is all that's left of the bike in the photos above:

I added that skull sticker by myself btw. The photos don't do the frame justice either, it's super shiny!

I still look at both my bikes and can't quite believe that I built them both from scratch with my bare hands, myself, I created them! I have another bike I built last April from an old mountain bike frame, which has slick tyres and higher gearing for cycling around town. It's an aluminium frame too though, so both are lightweight.

I was bored this afternoon, so... sticker-bomb!

*image*

Yes it's silly, but I like it, and I still have the walnut dash sitting about spare, and it only takes a few minutes to swap them over anyway.

Sorry to say I'm not liking that really. Sticker's in general seem a bit tacky to me.

I'd get a silver or black dash and leave it at that really. But if you like it then you can't go wrong.

Radios aren't hard, really.

Get the keys (flat metal things) slide them down the side, old one comes out, new one goes in, providing you have the right leads. I even have a lead with a 3.5mm headphone jack coming from the back of that head unit, down behind the glovebox and up into the tray in front of the gear stick, for my MP3 player.

Maddog, I can get away with tacky on my tatty old phase 1, with mis-matched front and rear seats. I wouldn't do anything silly like that to a nice phase 3 like yours. Hell, it's different too, everybody on pug306.net has silver dashboards, cyclones, and 40mm suspension drops!

Next plan for the car, Bosch fuel pump conversion, when me and my mates have the time to do it. The guy who's garage we always use needs to do the front shocks and the clutch (eep! big job) on his 405 first.

I'd love to have a Bosch though, smoother power delivery, more potential for tuning, and veg oil! My mate with the 405 has a Bosch in it (as standard) and it feels like a totally different engine, the power delivery is so much better, and it just keeps revving!

Right, long story short. My driver's side headlight hasn't been right since I got the car. Bulb holder was borked. Got a pair of headlights cheap on ebay, and painted the plastic trim inside them white.

Here is the result:

http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z245/matt88sco/French%20shed/whitemasks2.jpg

SHINY! :D

EDIT: Before anyone asks, the bit I painted is a piece of trim just in front of the reflector unit, so it's not functional. Lots of people on pug306.net paint them black, to create 'black masks'. So theoretically, mine are white masks. Never been done before!

The bits of trim are painted silver as standard, to blend in with the rest of the headlight. They have a tendency to fade badly though, mine had.

Looks tidy, makes a change from all of the black masks. Then again black masks wouldn't have looked as good on a white car :p

You should see the fuss I've caused over on pug306.net... They were all like OMG, white masks?!

Then they decided they looked alright, lol.

Anyway, I found a new trick with my car. Well, it's not new, it's common with tuned turbo diesels. Off-boost smoke! Fun times.
