Dan's Civic Coupe

Hi all :)

Just getting a thread going for the new civic as it's already on 3 jap car forums lol.

Basic info:

'99 Civic Coupe vti "EM1" (one below the EK9 Type R hatch performance wise, same as the EK4 hatch) meaning it comes with the legendary bulletproof vtec engine, this one being the B16A2 variant.

This is how she sat when I got her a couple of weeks ago:

All four tyres were illegal so I rubbered up the 4 standard wheels that the previous owner gave me with the car:

So she now sits like this:

Bits to add, well a previous owner installed the clocks from the hatch version, as the normal ones in the coupes come from the lesser versions and they didn't put the clocks from the performance models in

Also has a Type R replica gear knob and gaitor, looks the part at least:

Engine bay needs a clean:

I plan to paint that rocker cover, change the ITG cold air feed intake it has, plus lose that horrible red battery.

A few engine bay dress up bits are in the post so I'll update when I get them.

These are most recent pics, from yesterday while avoiding the snow in an underground car park with a couple of mates, we'd just been to the pub, sadly just coke and waters for me don't worry:

Sadly it was becks and guiness for my mate :cheeky: Who decided to pose on my bonnet.

To be honest I like the sedan better. If I could find one I would really like one as a first car if that was possible. Too bad we are obsessed with loading capacity over here, meaning 99% of all cars ever are estate or hatchbacks, which I find boring.

Yours looks great, especially in that silver colour. What did she cost if you don't mind me asking and what's the performance like? :hmmm:

Nice! :D I might be joining the civic club later this year, the hatches have kept their value pretty well though so we'll see if I can get the money for it :hmmm:

Good plan mate :) the B16'd ones are the best at keeping value if they're tidy examples, the 1.4 and 1.5 D series ones can be picked up very cheap indeed now. I wanted a hatch at first but I came across this one and I just realised how the coupes just stand out so much more.

You're from sweden right? So home of the volvo estate car :cheeky: Wouldn't blame you really if that's what's important out there, and thanks :) The guy (also a Dan) wanted £2100 for it but we knocked him down to £1850 in the end :D Good deal really, very quick car, 160bhp standard and probably 170 with the magnafow exhaust, DC ceramic manifold and cold air intake it has.

Very nice, what are your exterior plans? Wheels, bodykits (standard bodykit, maybe the type r kit?), etc? Looks great, mate :)

Thanks, wheels wise I want more rotas, I like the subzero's it came on but I'm gonna go for 16" rota slipstreams in black :) Not gonna add any body kits the vti comes standard with the Type R front lip and side skirts, some people delete the rear spoiler but I like it. Gonna try and raise that front end too, mainly by getting some coilovers on, it's currently sitting on lowering springs which I hate, not good for the OEM shocks. The body work needs a touch up here and there too, the front right wing is dented and there's a couple of marks on the bumpers, can all and will be sorted.

Tidy looking car. Always liked the older Civics.

Loved this in The Getaway.

Thanks mate :)

This is my inspiration car btw:

I prefer the old rims too mate, the standard wheels are just a winter thing for a month or two then I'll get some black rota slipstreams as I said.

Ahh sorry dude, was watching TV while on the forum :D Wheels for drifting in the snow? ;)

Nice indeed! I don't know why, but that Honda 'H' emblem bugs me without the bracket things.

Don't worry about that I'll be getting a Type R grill to replace it :) I know what you mean though, weird why they didn't put a border on it.

Nice one Dan. Have fun but stay safe.

Am I the only one who was a little bit sus about getting the clock/dash changed? Sounds like a good excuse to also reduce the recorded mileage :susp:

I'm aware of that too, but it's all verified by the MOT history so it's fine :)

Isn't it hell to get somewhere when the front is that low? It looks good when it's low but....

Mine was also very low in the front when i bought it but it just isn't worth it the hassle of always worrying about scraping something in the end on an everyday car. Plus driving a low car in wintertime isn't the best idea.
