"Sony Online Entertainment has unveiled its next project, a massively multiplayer online game called H1Z1 that is set in a post-apocalyptic world.

 

According to Sony Online Entertainment, the free-to-play game will see players "fight for survival" in a world ravaged by a fictional virus named H1Z1. Set 15 years after the initial outbreak, players will face the Infected, wild animals, and other survivors. The game will include scavenging and crafting elements.

 

The main thing that differentiates H1Z1 from the other great games in the genre is the emphasis we are putting on player ownership and building. We want you to be able to form roving gangs that are headquartered out of an abandoned warehouse that you’ve taken over... or a house you’ve built from scratch after having cut trees down and secured the resources to make it."

 

Beta version is coming in six weeks for 20$. platform PC and PS4

This looks cool, sure the zombie thing may be stretching these days but if it's done well and it's fun to play solo as well as in a group then it could be a right laugh and scare!

Yeah they are kinda fun with friends i played some Infestation lately, this one looks really good its made by Sony after all

Fairly sure the first image is of DayZ Standalone rather than H1Z1. The backpack, abandoned car and two buildings are certainly something I recognise. It might be a rendering though as I've not seen that scene on my travels of Chernarus :p

 

As far as I know H1Z1 is meant to use the same game engine that was used for Planetside 2 which copes with big player counts quite decently so it should be ok in that respect. Another game I'm sort of interested in despite it's similarities with DayZ, maybe this will get updated (finished) a bit more/quicker :p

Even though I don't like zombie games, I'm gonna give this try because it's F2P... They should make something with the same idea but no zombies or strange magic powers...
