Well it seems to be Ivory's baby with help and technical input from Reflections. Not long till we really find out though. The playtest looking for fans of both sim and arcade is interesting too.

Hard to say but the studio has been around since 2008 (maybe earlier?) but they obviously had to create their engine and all, but there has been plenty of hints via LinkedIn profiles that the game has been in develoment for a good 3+ years or so.

I know many people enjoyed the driving in DSF and I did too, the only thing I wasn't so hot about was the cars felt light so a bit more weight on them would be very welcome imo. I kind of hope if this game is happening that we get some of those coaches and lorries/trucks to drive in it. Do you think the next-gen versions will also be limited to 8 players?

What sort of event is this? The used-used-useless car show! :cheeese:

I've seen a good many people comment on the visuals actually lacking in places compared to the original GRID so why they removed the view and detail of them certainly isn't showing itself clearly to a number of folk.

You've posted it in WIP for a reason mate so any issues that remain you can sort out, then when you are happy that it's good to go you can release it. :D- 6 replies

When I played the first GRID demo I actually quite enjoyed the Mustang street race and in the cockpit view it was pure excitement due to the chicanes being narrow and the need to clip those apexes close to the barriers. The drifting I was a fan of much as I don't like it in general but having to guess where the rear of my car was something I could feel and viewing the replay proved it. :D

I have to disagree about the lack of cockpit view being moot due to the whole it's mainly used in sims argument as to me the cockpit view is a fundamental aspect of what makes games like these enjoyable. Whether it's a sim or not doesn't matter but that view does, why? Simply because it's more immersive due to being more restrictive. What I mean by this is that you need to know the width and length of the car when using these views, you need to feel what's around you and next to you, it believe it or not seems to heighten your senses compared to the typical behind the car view where you can see how close, how far, how steep, how close that car is next to you etc and it's all the better for it, and it's what makes replays worth watching! This is probably lost on some but when you race in these views you want to watch the replay to see just how close you were to clipping the wall, or how well you did in that final turn overtake because you don't know exactly how it happened because you are in a closed-in view that makes it hard to know just what went on around you. This may sound meh to some of you but this is why a cockpit view in racing games are needed, wanted and is passionately shouted about when it is excluded from a game.

Fantastic work Xarlith, you've put a lot of time and effort into doing this and I am sure it will be appreciated by many.

forza horizon DJdan's Forza Photobook - Ferrari F40 -
Eudemon replied to DJdan's topic in Screens, Videos & Streams
You need to have Xbox Live Gold first and foremost then you need to register/sign-in to the official forzamotorsport.net website then click 'My Forza'. This is where you will see your files you have uploaded via the game. -
A good diet should stop that from becoming an issue.

Some fantastic concepts their, I have a few favourites for sure amongst that lot. Andy's own #9 iirc is a definite pick but not with that logo, the 'helmet' logo is so much better and the perfect icon for the game even if it changes name from Project CARS to something else. Joint with Andy's is #19, I like the angle of the car and the placement of the logo, it's very striking though perhaps would need some more racing thrown into it somewhere to show the different motorsports that are in the game. After this would be #23 as like I just said I really think showing the progression or variety of racing available to the game would be a good thing to have and this does that in a clever way with each vehicle heading for the finish line. I like #24 for it's subtle look though a better car would fit the boxart and show the game off better imo. #21 would be next as I like the general look and placement of the assets but not the black inklines type effect of the car especially, as it doesn't sell the game to people who maybe don't know what the game is about. You want someone to look and get an instant idea about what the game is about just from the front of it with these people. And last but not least would be #30, the design is bit bare on the concept but the idea of having a logo, a set of different vehicles showcasing the different types of motorsport and the silhouette of a racing driver immediately symbolises what the game is about and what you're role in it will be. #26 has a very GT like feeling about it which I also like now I really stare at it.

Doesn't changes in the values that do speed and such get picked up by the server anyway? These things offline would be fine but the trouble that they could cause online is why many don't even attempt it or if they do know of or find a means they choose to not share it as they know that there are people who will misuse it. (not saying that's you btw)

An Ivory Tower employee just made a 'no comment' comment. :hmmm: Hervé Gengler @HerveGengler 7m @tduckteam "We do not comment on rumour and speculation." :) Also please tag tweets in regards to these guys with #IvoryTowerStudio as #IvoryTower is used too much and it's difficult to single out those that relate to them specifically. :nods:

If there is a company who could bring back the TEST DRIVE name it's SMS especially in using the pCARS engine, though I still like the idea of Ubisoft buying it for the Ivory game if it's sort of in the same vein.

Since there seems to be a real need for miscellaneous polls on here I've decided I'm going to do a past-midweek weekly poll to give you all your fill of poll'y goodness. This week we attack the worldwide crisis faced by Mars bars. Do you eat yours normally, like a rabbit by etching off the chocolate at the sides or even a third option where by your 'JAWS' it by coming up from below and scoffing away the tasty noughat leaving the chocolate covered caramel section all alone and ready to stick to every crevice of your teeth? Maybe it's none of those but either way let's find out!! :D How do you eat your Mars?

I think it will be, look at the numbers of Forza and GT and you have an idea of the potential for sales in that bracket for consoles, I know it won't hit those numbers but the game is looking good and if the reviewers say things like "pCARS is a great game for the GT/Forza enthusiast", "pCARS fits alongside GT/Forza" etc then you will have a decently perceived and received game. PC players will no doubt sell it to each other via videos, word of mouth and youtube shows like ISR and such. Then again maybe I'm just naive and want the game to do well so that the future may bring about more of them. :hmmm:

Today a number of people are in a kind of zombie-like gaming state in that they will only stick to one thing and that one thing only. Your typical CoD player will want every FPS to control like CoD despite it being so dumb and floaty with no weight or feeling of your character having body mass. Then we look at the diehard Forza and GT fans who are so adamant their game is so simulation like that any mention of negativity towards it results in a complete backlash, hell those two are even more realistic than real-life to some people! And let's not forget the worst thing of these people, the submissive tendency to lick the arse of the devs and praise every single bit of overpriced, cut from the game DLC. You're right, games cost a lot to make these days but I would like to use Project CARS as an argument for it not needing to be crazy money, even with 1-2 million of marketing that's not hitting too bad a budget for a multiplatform high-quality release that it's looking to be. Unfortunately though we seem to be a state where there's only a few major players and disappointingly the masses swarm to them because of their braindead controls and complete lack of needing any real cognitive function, but as some have shown, you can still be a success without pandering to the idiots! :)
